Refuse to advertise their high rates

If this company was reputable they would advertise their prices. You won't find them posted anywhere. I made the mistake of relying on other websites detailing Valvolines rates. As of Sept 2024 a full synthetic change of 6 quarts is $111 plus tax. I'll never go back.

2nd time I've been to this location...both times blocked in were I couldn't get out. Over 3 hours in line not including the oil change...the 2nd time 3 cars in the bays..I'm the only one waiting at at this point it's been 1 hour 40 mins...and no body has moved.....I will drive back to Dixie hwy to get my oil changed. I know Valvoline is going to back down with their time but if you get people leaving how's that going to profit your business....

Just got back from Valvoline

Just got back from Valvoline. My first time. My last time! I supposedly received a synthetic oil change and a radiator flush and fill. They also replaced an air filter. Cost aprox. $275.00. That’s with a 10% discount. So I left and at my next stop decide to check the engine. I noticed that the new antifreeze was the same color (dull orange) and not yellow like new antifreeze. I went back and complained. They said it was residual antifreeze but said they would do it over for me. This time they had me put my heat on before they flushed the radiator. I told him they didn’t do that last time. The supervisor admitted the employee didn’t do it correctly. He said he needed more training. I then checked my dip stick and the oil didn’t look new (light honey colored) it still had a dark tint to it. He assured me it was changed. Point is beware of this company. Find a good mechanic you can trust.

WARNING!!!!

WARNING!!!!
On 06/06/2024 Valvoline Instant Oil Change located at 1405 NW HWY 7, Blue Springs, MO 64014 performed an oil change on my son's 2012 Hyundai Sonata. They removed the gasket off of the drain plug and reinstalled it without a gasket. This caused the oil to leak out while he was on the highway, totally ruining his motor. He had Take 5 oil change document everything before they put a new drainplug in and filled it up with oil, with the hopes that the motor might still be ok. The motor was not ok. We then took it to Blue Springs Hyundai for further evaluation before contacting Valvoline.
Hyundai said that the motor was shot and needed replaced. They also noted that the only location oil had leaked from the car was the drain plug location. I contacted Valvoline at this time. At first they seemed like they would pay for the damages. They called me back and stated that they could see on video that their tech did improperly install the drain plug but they would not pay for the damages because Take 5 put a new plug in and top the oil off.
Do not use any Valvoline location because they will not stand behind their work when they are at fault and even admitted that they were at fault.
Please feel free to share this.

Quickies are not good

In the process of preparing for a road trip most people do general maintenance on your vehicle for optimal safety. Oil change is my main priority ok cool so I thought. During the process I was advised that I was in need of my transmission fluid to be exchanged service, I asked are they up to date on my car and what it needed and was told yes. Depends on the car if you have a filter that will need to be cleaned as well or the clean fluid will be contaminated. The young man assured they did everything the service was performed A few days later I had trouble shifting and gears slipping, I called back to the shop to inquire as to exactly what they did, I was told they only transfer the fluid but not the filter, I called customer service and the young lady stated oh no they should have cleaned the filter if I had one. To make a ling ongoing story shorter, I requested a refund due to services not performed properly which damaged my transmission and on their website complaints are many more of the same. The supposingly area manager called and stated he would investigate and call back, three months later still no call or update, as stated they are not accountable and do not take responsibility for any damage to your car and you would need to use the legal system to get satisfaction if they refuse your request, however they have not refused but they have not answered either. These 5 minute shops do not use the most experienced people and apparently don't have the knowledge of every vehicle that enters that shop. My car takes 6 it's oil and they charge extra but only put 4, I always double check because they don't do it correctly. I have made many complaints to the management who apparently don't care about the service as long as they get the money. Anyway I don't recommend these quick services and always go do a double check to be sure your oil is at the correct level, it's been 3 months still no call back to my situation or refund. I will keep you updated as to how this ends. I do not reccomend this quickie oil change place, I guess its you get what you pay for or not!! Very bad service for long time care of your car. Young inexperienced workers that aren't knowledgeable about cars.

When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going.

After a brief disappointment (oil leak after change), Tyler (manager) made things right. After several attempts to locate the oil leak, by two other service employees. Tyler took the time to investigate the situation further. Two more visits were necessary before he nailed it. The aluminum oil pan plug was deformed. He replaced it with a steel plug that has a rubber O-Ring seal instead. Ironically, the aluminum one is the recommended plug. So, I deleted my one star and converted into 5 stars. That did the trick. No more oil spots in my garage. Kudos to Tyler for his tenacious efforts. Nice guy too. No attitude except one of professionalism and courtesy. This facility is in San Clemente, CA.

When I brought my car in for oil…

When I brought my car in for oil change, Caleb, the assistant manager and Anthony, service tech, both did an exemplary job in explaining everything more about my car oil change. I am very pleased with Caleb's knowledge and drove away a satisfied customer.
Thank you Valvoline for hiring such competent employees, who represent your company well.

I came to put oil in the car

I came to put oil in the car, explained everything to the worker, but the worker poured too much and did not want to listen to me, then ran away, I found him and asked for the general manager, the manager did not want to listen to me either and started talking about the payment, in the end I managed to ask to drain the oil and put it back into my can(he wanted to take my oil to himself) i don't advice their service!

I took my car for an oil change…

I took my car for an oil change somewhere else 10 days ago. Right after the oil change I noticed my car was making a weird sound. I wound up coming to Valvoline to do another oil change thinking the other mechanic maybe didn't put the filter back right or just to make sure the oil itself was good. They decided to do a visual inspection and noticed a coolant leak. They gave me advice on where to go from there and I felt confident when I left. They did not charge me for this either.

Extremely poor customer service

I do not recommend taking your vehicle to Valvoline. They forgot to put my oil cap back on the vehicle after the oil change, and they refuse to take responsibility for their mistake. I had to get the oil changed again because the filter surely got dirty while driving around without the cap. And, oil splattered all over my engine bay and chassis, which is a major fire hazard and will cause other parts to wear out from the oil as it dries. I had to get the engine and chassis steam cleaned to remove the mess and risk of fire, and they refuse to reimburse me for this expense.

The area manager asked me to get a full engine diagnostic to prove the engine damage was a result of the cap being left off. Then, he also denied they did anything wrong. Umm, then why the request for the diagnostic?

Valvoline has done nothing to make the situation right, even though this was their fault. I don't recommend taking your vehicle to a place that lies to their customers and fails to take responsibilities for their costly mistakes.

Worst Experience

I went to Valvoline last minute for an oil change on 6/8th. JUST FOR AN OIL CHANGE! The Employee that was taking care of my vehicle looked like he was in training. They decided to check the levels and pressure of my air conditioner WITHOUT asking me or my knowledge. I paid for my oil change and went about my day. Later on, in the day when I went to turn the air conditioner on, it wasn't working. Let's not forget I just went for an oil change and prior to going to Valvoline my air conditioner was working perfectly fine. I called the Middletown CT location that is where I had the service and they tried to tell me that they always offered that service (which is a lie). so now I had to replace and fix air conditioner which cost me $150.00 already on top of what I spend for an oil change. Spoke to TJ who stated he was the Assistant manager, very rude, argumentative and unprofessional. The store manager is Crystal who tried to convince me that this service has always been part of Valvoline and it has not. I will not recommend anyone to Valvoline and definitely won't be going to any of them ever again. Majority of time they are just hanging outside and smoking.

Run!

We thought we would give this place a shot and it was a MAJOR mistake. After 45 minutes, our Explorer was completed, or so we thought. We pulled out of our drive and heard a noise and thought it was the transmission . Thank goodness it wasn’t, but it was the noise panel that they didn’t clip back properly. Now that one is broken and we have to replace it. BEWARE!!

They rip-off elderly customers…

My elderly mother who has dementia brought her car in to have the air conditioner looked at. Valivoline doesn’t service air conditioners but charged her $159.99 for staring at it. She came home crying and I called to speak to a manager. Moses is a manager and refused to refund the purchase and just said “Yeah I referred her to someone who could fix it.” I am disgusted that these people knew they couldn’t help my poor mother who knows nothing about cars yet took her money for nothing in return. Total scum

Went to new store and got in line and waited 30 minutes. When it was my turn the asst mgr came out and told me to move to another line there was someone in another line that was there first. He was totallly wrong they were the last one there and I can show on dash cam. I left never to return if they want to do that tell me up front and hand out numbers or something. Probably because I am a senior and he thinks we have all time in the world. Taking advantage.

Valvoline broke my car and didn't take responsibility

I had my oil changed at a Valvoline instant oil change in Gilbert Arizona. When I pulled out of the parking lot my car died in front of the shop. They pushed me back into a bay and got it to run again but barely. I had to take it to my mechanic and eventually had to replace a fuel mixture sensor that they wacked when removing my dirty air filter. I contacted their support and was told to submit my receipt to an email address and then I sent them three emails that they did not respond to. Then finally when I sent a nasty email saying I was unhappy I got a terse reply to call their support. No apology or feeling for a customer that they wronged. I will never go here again....

I'll be going elsewhere!

Went for an oil change at the Bradenton, Florida SR 70 location. Soon after my truck started leaking oil in my driveway. Took it in to the auto shop and they said the filter was loose and I lost a quart of oil. I wrote Valvoline headquarters about the problem with documentation from the auto shop. NOT EVEN THE COURTESY OF A REPLY. Really!

Paid for full synthetic oil change I'm sure I got regular oil. They pulled my airfilter without asking, sprinkled leaf pieces and pine needles on the clean side and showed it to me. When I didn't fall for their scam they over tightened my filter and drain plug. Have bought 6 different oil filter wrench still can't get their filter off. Changing oil myself every 3k miles as several shops have failed to filter off.

If I could give 0 stars after this…

If I could give 0 stars after this experience, I would. I was a customer for years since moving to the area. However I will make it a point to never return again.
I took my vehicle for a tire check. The Assistant Manager at the time also took a look at my fluid levels. He said I needed coolant and windshield wiper fluid. It was no charge at the time of service. 1 week later, my car overheats and there is brown sludge coming out of the coolant pipes. Towed it to the dealership, where I was told I will need to replace the engine, coolant pipes, radiator, thermostat and heater core, as the sludge is throughout the engine. It's inoperable. I called and opened a claim with Valvoline. An estimate of repairs was given to me which I forwarded to Valvoline. Valvoline's Area Manager is saying he viewed the vehicle and determined the issues are not from the service. They are not taking any responsibility for the repairs and subsequent rental costs. I called the dealer to confirm; they state no one has been out to view the vehicle at all. Sounds like someone is trying to get out of doing their job, or simply believe I don't have the time to pursue this further. This shady business will not receive another penny out of me.
