I was a potential teacher looking for a job. Even though I have read many, many negative reviews for VIPKID/VIPTEACHER (like the low pay, few bookings), I decided to give them a try. Man were the right! First off, there is no point of contact between you and the company, so if you have any questions at all you are on your own. Essentially, you create a profile then look at the slides that you are going to present to the fake student (i.e. recruiter). Also, bare in mind that these slides come with notes or guidelines to follow. If these notes aren't followed it creates a bit of confusion as to what to do. I have my mock class with a less than enthusiastic recruiter. I use TPR, I am friendly, I repeat some words but not all of them. If they do a great job, I let them know with a thumbs up, or a gold star. Five minutes into the demo, the recruiter finally gives me some feedback that some words could have been repeated. The rest of the lesson was fine though. I was a bit confused because I did follow the lesson notes, and in nowhere there does it state to repeat words or sentences. If that were the case I would have changed my demo. Sometimes I did repeat the words if the student had trouble saying them, but I have learned through other companies like AirReading that they don't like you going off script. This is what is missing with VIPTeacher- Organization-Transperency-making things clear. Anyhow, one business day later, I get the nicest rejection ever: " You are an excellent teacher, but unfortunately, your expertise does not quite match our current business needs. Please note that currently we do not offer a second chance." There is of course no explanation or reason as to why I shouldn't have passed the mock class. This is quite a waste of time. I mean I know did well on the class, so why not pass me? Avoid this company at all costs!!!!
