Negligent Customer Services

My brother and I had booked a 60th birthday trip for my mom from South Africa.

Given the countless logistics surrounding the surprise trip, we mistakenly booked a car with Volta4u for the 9th (the day our mom arrived at Schiphol Airport) instead of the 10th (when we were due to arrive in Athens). Understandably our fault, however failure to collect on the 9th was never communicated to us by Volta4u.

Upon arrival in Athens on the 10th we had to search for a Volta representative (who was unpunctual) only for her to inform us we werent on her collection list for the evening. Her manager informed her telephonically that our booking was from the 9th and are car was no longer available. The booking therefore considered cancelled and we had to promptly find an alternative given the late hour and the trip to follow.

We were not only surprised at how Volta addressed this as
A. The Volta team had our air ticket (arrival 10th in Athens) for reference regardless of our booking for the 9th.
B. There was no communication from Volta regarding the missed collection on the 9th leaving us blindsided at the airport
C. The Volta team weren't interested in helping us resolve this issue - as we remained stranded in a foreign country without a car.

Further from this, the full amount has been debited from our credited card which includes all 10 days.
This shouldn't be the case considering the conversation that happened on the 10th between the Volta employee and their manager. We should not have been charged for more than 1 x day for this booking considering the mistake on our behalf regarding collection on the 9th.

We would like to urgently escalate this with both Volta4u and Booking.com and request a refund for the x9 days due to us. This has left an extremely bitter taste in our entire familys mouth regarding the professionalism of this business - making one question the values of the brand. Volta4u customer services were negligent in this case and have caused great financial constraint on us (as young adults) spoiling our mother for her 60th.

Please could we ask that you address the above with immediate effect

Santorini Airport Volta4u

we rent a car for the week at Santorini airport. This company is very serious and we have been very satisfied. The office is only 25 meters from the exit of the airport. The staff was super helpful, kind and polite. Everything there was so easy and so fast. Afrodite and the staff are doing an excellent job!

DO NOT USE. We were told to wait for a representative from the company in the arrivals hall. Nobody to be found for an hour. Tried to call the company number multiple times for 30 minutes and but no answer. But they wanted pre paying for the rental. Useless company.

Never seen a service like this

Never seen a service like this.
Just one person to assist. A long line of 6 customers waiting in the Santorini airport counter!! They asked us for 240 euros non refundable if we pay with cash or debit card. The guy didn’t talk. He just yelled. How is it possible Booking word with such a business partner???

When I was at their office at Athens…

When I was at their office at Athens Airport on 12 Sep 23, a man served us and persuaded me to take up full insurance as my earlier insurance with RentalCover had excess of Euro450. For zero excess he quoted a so called discounted rate of Euro200 which I paid up.

I gave the man my credit card, International Driving Licence (IDL) & Passport. However, he only returned me my credit card after charging Euro200 to the card and retained my passport and IDL. Then he quickly pass me to another man to explain how to return the car on 19 Sep 23 and he disappeared from the scene.

The 2nd man hurriedly passed me the car. Made me signed documents but never printed out the rental agreement. But simply a piece of paper that I had zero excess to pass to the car return booth on 19 Sep 23.

I drove off the car and forgot they didn't return me my passport and IDL. After crossing the 1st toll booth we drove to a rest area. Then I realised that they didn't return me my passport and IDL. I had to drive all the way back to their office to retrieve my documents! Had to pay tolls 2 additional times. Waste of precious time, fuel and toll charges! Imagine if I discovered my passport and IDL were not with me when I arrive at my destination Meteora 200km away??

Very poor customer service! The ladies staff were ok and helpful but the men are lazy and terrible! Be very careful dealing with the male staff at the counter!

When I got to their office the 2nd man simply smiled and said he tried to call my hp (they had their fun I supposed) How could they call me when I'm using ICC? Never emailed me either which I always access.

Excellent

We booked a car on Santorini. The car was ready and waiting. The staff were friendly and gave us a free update. They were very thorough with the vehicle check and noted every mark we identified. They took a deposit of £600+ and explained it could take a month to be repaid into my account. When we returned the car, they had a cursory look at it and signed to say the car was returned in the same condition. The money was repaid into my account within a few days. No fuss; just an efficient and friendly service.

This company is a scam!!!!

This company is a scam!!!!
1) they don't accept debit cards and they don't mention this on the sales page of their bookings. You only discover this when you arrive at their office. Therefore I could not even rent the car after waiting long time to get to their office from the airport.
2) the cost of their insurance is 4 times higher than other companies
3) They make it very difficult to cancel your booking.
4) Customer Service don t speak English

DO NOT RENT!! Thieves who try to charge for damage that was already there. Rented from Mykonos and they tried to say a very large piece of damage was my fault (as this didn’t mark it down on their paper and “could never miss that”) and charge me, lucky I had photos and videos at pick up. Looking at other reviews this is definitely a scam they have done repeatedly at Mykonos this year

This company is a SCAM!!!!

I unfortunately booked twice with this company, one in Santorini and one in Mykonos.

It’s been a month and they didn’t returned my the insurance payment that they’ve blocked on my credit card. In Mykonos they also came out of nowhere with one damage on the car that I didn’t do, and I had to pay for it. I’m trying to contact them to get my money back but they don’t even reply!

This company is a SCAM!! Never use them!

Wish I could give zero stars!
Lost of money and time! I don’t recommend. They take payment from your card then ask you to read terms and conditions 30 pages and sign. Then they ask for credit card to stop £800 and you need to claim this back after 20 days with a lot of proof and bills. If you don’t have credit card at all or at the airport with you, then you lost your money and you are left without car. Better use different company and be careful with who you book!

Wished I could give zero stars

The only reason that this company gets 1 star is because it can’t be given zero. Rented a car from them while on vacation in Athens. I waited for one hr in the airport before being picked up from the shuttle service. The process at the rental car office was satisfactory. I was charged for the rental along with a safety deposit on my credit card. It’s been two months since my visit and I am yet to get my safety deposit back. Countless phone calls, Facebook messages and emails have been sent with no results. Don’t rent from Volta unless you are willing to make a $1000 dollar donation to them. I don’t think I will ever get back my safety deposit.

Friendly, quick, professional

Rented a car from Athens airport, they picked us up and drove us to where the car was parked, they were very lovely, quick, and they dealt quickly with the deposit after we returned the car

WORST CAR RENTAL EVER

Worst experience ever, firstly they demanded an extra insurance with them of €20 a day even if I had prepay full insurance from rentalcars.com. It took 45 mins to sort that out ( sitting there with a 13 month old baby). Finally,they getting the key for me.
Then I had a baby seat preordered so the girl came outside at the car and she threw the baby seat at me to fit it in the car. No instructions on the car seat whatsoever, broken and filty dirt. I said I don't know how to fit this with no instructions it has no isofix. She said I'll go on and ask if someone knows how to fit it in the car. She never returned, I had to go back in and ask for a different baby car seat. They brought me in a room with car seats covered in dust for me to pick one. After another 30 minutes trying to figure out what to do they said we are not responsible for fitting the car seats. So I had to drive off with a car seat that doesn't fit the car properly. Unreal.

They are Thieves

They are Thieves.
Hired a car, very inferior for a top price.
Returning car back at athens airport on the 25/5 instead of 28/5 with their authorisation, still waiting for the 3 day credit.
Also sold to us insurance and Roadside assistance which they didn't honour
Only take our euros ,that's an 200 euro

First Class

Very surprised to read poor reviews on here as our experience with the lovely guys from Santorini was first class. Really friendly, helpful and thorough. We had a bright orange Panda and made a joke that you could spot it a mile off in any car park. Situated immediately outside the airport, no pressure on taking extra cover like others have and all in all a first class service. Impressed.

Very friendly and helpful team. Car collection was processed quickly and efficiently at the airport. Their office is next to arrivals/departures so very convenient. Good price and the car was in great condition. Drop-off was also very quick and they wished us a good journey - very nice people.
