Wanderio is great

Phase I rating

This is a rating based only on reservations. My train reservations were easy to make and cost less than on the direct train website. However, I did not leave a tip on the payment page, where it was an opt-out charge. I am not a fan of pre-tipping, as a tip should be for great service. Does leaving that pre-tip guarantee better service? Not sure, but I'll be back to leave another rating after our trip. Planning travel in another country is hard work! Ratings, reviews and tips are a huge benefit for all of us out there trying to do the best we can with our hard-earned money.

Beware check-in scam

I booked a flight for 2people from Bologna to Catania on Ryan Air. At the airport the Ryan Air agents told me I owe $60 for a "check-in charge, because I did not check-in online as per Ryan Air policy". They also said " If you had not booked through a broker (Wanderio), there would not have been a charge"

As far as I am aware, the normal, standard practice of all other airlines provides for check in at the airport at no cost. Further, in this case, my two bags had to be physically processedat the counter anyway...

Wanderio acknowledged that "the details that we shared in the confirmation e-mail might have not been clear enough regarding this issue" . To add injury to insult, it also informed me that the extra charge over the price of the tickets was not $60 as at the airport, but rather 79 Euros or about $85!. It then grandly offered not a CC refund as I requested, but a voucher for that amount for future bookings, which is worthless to me under the circumstances!

The whole episode is a total scam IMHO. There were other passengers at the airport who went through this scenario as well.

Moral: Don't book on Ryan Air and on Wanderio if you don't want it to happen to you too!

As anticipated in the last messages, during the booking and in the confirmation e-mail it was specified that it was necessary to check in with the airline to get the boarding pass and that the conditions depend exclusively on the company that manages the route, in this case Ryaniar. As an online travel agency, we manage bookings of lots of different airlines and each airline has different terms and conditions. Regrettably, the low cost airline Ryanair has very restrictive conditions, especially regarding baggage and check-in process, that might include extra fees if their conditions are not respected and those conditions are accepted whilst completing the booking.

Regarding this specific situation, the company Ryanair requires a payment of € 55/£55 if the check-in is completed at the airport and not online, even for passengers that book directly through Ryanair.

Nonetheless, even if the conditions depend exclusively and directly on the airline Ryanair, as specified in the terms and conditions that you accepted at the moment of the booking, we exceptionally decided to offer you a voucher of € 55, which is the amount you paid at the airport, in order to let you know that we understand your situation and to solve, at least partially, this inconvenience, but you didn’t accepted it, unfortunately.

Moreover, we would like to clarify that the amount of € 76.47 deals with the original reservation, since it is the total price of your booking that you paid online when you confirmed the booking, whereas the amount of € 55 is what you paid at the airport it was paid directly to the airline Ryanair because of the airline rules regarding the check-in at the airport.

As we also stated along our latest conversations, we thank you for the time spent sharing your feedback and we will absolutely take into consideration your opinion regarding this topic and we will work on improving the details within the confirmation messages in order to make the information clearer.

Great travel app

App is easy to use, lots of trip options, easy payment functionality & mobile tickets available so no need to print or collect from a ticket office. I had to swap my tickets when my plans changed & the Wanderio reps organised everything for me within a few mins which was great:)

I felt so dumb when I booked train …

I felt so dumb when I booked train tickets for the wrong day. I contacted customer support and had a full refund within 45 minutes and was able to book a train for the right day. Very impressed
