Poor comms.

Having previously sold a Rolex to WM as a straight forward sale and the process going so smoothly, my partner and I were interested in selling two further Rolexes to WM by consignment with a combined value of c£35k.

Communication is poor - a week after signing and returning my consignment agreement, I still am no further forward in getting a confirmed date for collection of my watch. WM say they’re getting quotes for the the transportation, but this doesn’t take a week. When asking questions relating to the T&Cs, various fees, commission etc, a straight answer is hard to get and the T&Cs can be ambiguous.

My concern is if communication is this difficult when trying to get my watch to WM, how tricky will it become once the watch is there.

Obviously, I can’t give any feedback on the consignment process as I’m pulling out, having been put off by the lack of communication and energy from WM in getting things moving.

Dear Wakefield,

I know the team are working very hard to get this right for you. Yourself and your partner's decision to ship the watches together has added complexity to an otherwise streamlined process, but nevertheless we are keen to accommodate.
As it stands I believe collections are booked for the coming days and I look forward to being able to put this right and turn your experience round by getting you and your partner's watches sold ASAP and without a hitch.

Watch this space!

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly on +442035100477 should you wish to discuss the matter further.

Kind regards

Will or won’t I get my watch?

I had been looking for a watch for a while and decided to go with watchmaster after looking at their reviews, express delivery and wide selection of watches.
I decided on my dream watch Deepsea 126660
After paying for the watch it stated that I would receive the item 21-26 of April 2022 once the order has been marked as paid, complete utter rubbish.
I waited 3 days before contacting the office which I was on hold for over an hour before they put me through to a watch specialist or whatever they claimed this person was, which I was confused as I was after a delivery date not information about a watch.
They told me that it wasn’t paid but after I gave them confirmation via reading the email receipt when the payment was complete they were miraculously aware and it was a “error”. They didn’t ask for a confirmation number or anything so how did they all of a sudden say oh yes I can see it’s an error?!

It’s now been 10 days
I have no delivery date
I have asked via email for this date as I will need to be home to accept the delivery especially due to the high value of it
No response just an automated email

After looking at the reviews now I can see they have a high percentage of negative reviews for similar and worse reasons not only on trust pilot but Facebook also- just search watchmaster and click posts- you’ll find them.

IF I could I would entice people not to waste your time and effort into buying a watch from this company, they don’t communicate, they don’t really care when you ask questions and it will cause you stress.

I am very understanding person, if they were to give a valid excuse such as low staff, work overload, miscommunication between their departments then I would accept that it may be delayed, but to basically be fobbed off and still no closer to knowing where and if I’m going to receive my order, I’ll keep it PG and say it’s rather annoying.

I will if I can update this when/if I receive and update.

Dear Murphy Abraham,

I am really very sorry to hear of the confusion you have faced in trying to order your watch.
Unfortunately due to the 3 attempts to purchase the watch leaving us with 3 different names and 3 different addresses, your order was flagged internally for investigation.
Apologies, we were not able to be fully candid whilst that was ongoing.
We take our customer security very seriously and given the value of the items we are trading in cannot be too careful.
I do understand you have now decided to cancel the order, and I am sorry to hear we unable to find a resolution.

Please don't hesitate to call in to discuss the situation, I would be happy to talk it through.

Kind regards

it was a very pleasant experience indeed to deal with Watchmaster. they are professional , fast, efficient , friendly , keep their promise and very supportive. It is very convenient to be able to communicate in so many different languages with this team simply as there aspects to a watch that you can only express in your mother tongue.

Panerai - Radiomir Manual

I submitted my watch for evaluation and this was subsequently collected from my home. The sale went through smoothly and transparently, with the only delay being out of the companies control. Customer service throughout the process could not be faulted.

Selling with Watchmaster is very easy…

Selling with Watchmaster is very easy and they sold my watch for the required price. The communication that I had with my watch consultant and the team was excellent and he was very helpful and pleasant. Couldn’t fault him at all!
However if you decide to sell with Watchmaster you must check the terms and conditions. Obviously they charge commission but they also bring the watch up to the required standard which the seller pays for. With a luxury watch this can make a dent in your payment. Having said that I suspect that I would not have made any more money selling it in any other way. And it also means that buying a watch from Watchmaster is good way to obtain a high quality watch!

Horses for courses I would say

Horses for courses I would say, but worked for me.
In my case the watch was a one off needed to sell situation, and I was apprehensive about doing so bearing in mind the commission fee, ultimate courier costs, and service cost to make the piece saleable condition. However, I was not going to easily sell it any other way.
Good communication with Jason, both phone and email. My only issue was with the bad photo they took of the watch to put on the website, but before this was rectified I was informed that the piece had sold. The price achieved made the deal worth it for me. So really a case of right place at right time.
I recommend this service if you do the research, read the T's & C's, and weigh up pro's and cons of your own situation.

Watch master really are a great team to…

Watch master really are a great team to deal with when it comes to selling your watch.
From pickup to sale you are confident of their knowledge.

Watch selling can be a risky business.

I’d like a little bit more communication on units that are with them for a time. I do think there could have been better communication after a few months. Possibly with opt in or out on some of their deals.

I did feel that over time I could have seen a loss in the watch when they offer discounts. I’d rather been able to opt out or at least have a say.

Would give 6 stars if I could

First time using Watchmaster, a fantastic experience. I was greeted at the store for an appointment only appointment by Jay (new boy) and Thomas. I just wanted to say a massive thank you for a great experience, I enjoyed every minute and had a fantastic outcome. My only feedback is that I would have preferred to complete the transaction in a more comfortable area, than in the reception. But I can honestly say the service I received from all at Watchmaster was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and would not hesitate to use them again.

Extremely poor customer service

Personally wouldn’t recommend watchmaster. Had the misfortune of encountering them and Jason when I was recently debating selling one of my watches. Initially received an offer which I deemed fair however at the time I explained I hadn’t made my mind up if I wanted to go ahead. 2 weeks passed and I decided to go ahead however the “value” of my watch had suddenly dropped by nearly £300 as well as the commission being increased from 18% to 19%. Apparently this was due to the cost of business having suddenly gone up (questionable choice of excuse). Having informed Jason that my brother who I had recommended them to since our first conversation, had received a commission of 17%. I was told that it was due to the price of his watch, although he had no clue of the model of the watch nor who my brother was, another questionable quick excuse. Having questioned this I was politely told ‘this is a no goer mate’. Fantastic customer service to say the least, wasn’t aware the word ‘mate’ was in the vocabulary of a ‘luxury’ specialist.

Dear Daniel,
I am really very sorry to hear of your frustration with the variations in our offers unfortunately because you requested a valuation three times for the same watch this has resulted in some internal confusion and your watch being priced twice independently of one another which has clearly introduced some human error. I would really like the opportunity to put this right for you and to discuss the matter in person. I did also just try to give you a call but was not able to reach you.
Please do give me a call back on 02035100477 and one of the team will put you through to me, alternatively please drop us an email with when would be a good time to catch you.

Nothing but praise for this company from start to finish.
They offered me a fair price for my Rolex Submariner it sold within days I think it was 2 days maximum and the transaction was in my account in 3 weeks allowing the purchaser a cooling off period of 2 weeks.
Absolutely fantastic service from Watchmaster from start to finish to quote a phrase ( they did exactly what it said on the tin.)
Thank you Watchmaster

Excellent

Professional, efficient, honest and personalised service.
I have never sold a watch before and the head of sales actually advised me to wait 3 months to ensure I get a better price - he was absolutely correct as sale was £2k higher (4k more than other selling platforms).
Very impressed.

Very disappointed -Very Poor service and stakeholder management

After researching for some time to find a safe, professional and reliable company to sell my luxury time piece, I came across Watchmaster. With healthy reviews on Trust pilot I thought I had made the correct decision when I agreed terms with watchmaster to sell the time piece on my behalf - how wrong was I!! As soon as I had signed on the dotted line it all went downhill very quickly. I was enticed by my 'personal watch consultant' at the time (one of three since I engaged with the company) that the time piece would be sold within 2-3 months, and that I would be kept updated on the progress of the sale, along with any other marketing amendments that could be implemented to support the sale if this was to pass the 3 month period. I have received none of this, I only ever receive brief updates when I request what the status of the sale is at.

The general communication from this company, when you have entrusted them with such a high value item, is abysmal. I have been passed through 3 'personal watch consultants' Ciaran, Esmee and now Barry. All of which take weeks to respond to any emails.

As time passed and with the communication being so poor, I decided to call their London based office for actual updates. What a shambles that was!! after waiting on hold for over an hour I was genuinely getting the felling that I have defiantly been scammed - very little response to emails and no one answering any calls, I sure most would have felt the same way. After being on hold for over an hour someone finally answered. I was informally and unprofessionally greeted by Akash who was as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike! He deflected every question I asked and was reluctant to pass me onto a manager. He couldn't wait to get me off the phone. He advised that a manger would call me back at 9:00am the next morning, but you guessed correct! not a phone call has ever been received. Coming off this call I was even more uncertain around the whole service and still have worries that this may indeed be a scam and a that I won't see any return or indeed my timepiece returned after the 365 days. I really do hope this is not the case.

Watchmaster have now had my timepiece since December 2021 - This is now April and there has been no signs of any progress on the sale. That call and further emails where sent weeks ago and I only received an update from Barry on the 25th March with nothing other than "given time, we will get you a result" that's not good enough from a company whom you have entrusted with a personal high value item.

I definitely would not recommend this "Luxury" watch selling company to anyone.

Dear John,

I am really very sorry to hear of your experience with us. This is not at all the service we seek to provide. I am mostly troubled with your inability to reach us and have begun a detailed investigation as to why you were forced to wait so long to get through, as at the time of your calling we had multiple agents available. I will also be speaking with the team members you spoke with as you certainly should not have felt rushed off the phone!
I would like the opportunity to discuss the matter with you personally to ensure I can restore your confidence and put these issues right for you.
I did just try to phone but was unable to get through. Please do call back on 02035100477, alternatively you could send an email marked for my attention with a preferred time for me to reach you. I will try to reach you again on Monday.

Kind regards
