Camera doesn’t work with EE sim and rubbish support
It all started well, receiving the solar Pan-tilt-zoom camera to watch our horses in an area without wi-fi or power - so needed 4G access (via EE - the only provider with reasonable signal in that area).
I wrapped it as a Christmas present - when opened found a 30-day ‘3’ mobile sim had been pre-installed - so the sim was now useless. Went to buy a contracted EE data-only sim. It didn’t acquire a signal. Took camera home and put in my own O2 mobile sim - it worked fine.
The supplier email address bounced back so used mobile/text to communicate with them. Supplier didn’t want to hear the reality of the problems and tried to wriggle out saying I had purchased wrong type of sim and signal strength probably wasn’t good (EE = 4 bars). He even sent his own ‘working’ EE sim - when I loaded it into my camera it didn’t work. At his request the final step was for me to pay to send the camera, his sim and my sim to him to check. He then went quiet and I had to chase again - so he sent me a battered second-hand replacement which was also the previous model - which amazingly worked with EE sim. He said he had no new cameras left - and yet they have still been for sale ever since on his website! He offered me £50 of the £250 original cost to accept the replacement - I said ‘no’ - asked for my money back - he said ‘return the camera’ - I said ‘you have it collected’ which he did, eventually. Then I had to chase for my refund.
What a rogue!
