Wealthsimple - a big No for trading

If you are a serious trader , do not transfer funds to Wealth simple . Stick with Interactive Brokers . Platform is not mature to support trading requirements. Have raised concern in various forums no good response .

They provide awful service and are unreliable. After requiring me to undergo many identification checks and even requesting additional papers, they put my account on wait for days. I feel like my privacy is being disrespected and invaded. Contacts with #ECHOMINES have been easy and transparent, and they respond promptly when I need them.

Lost confidence in Wealthsimple

Had to contact Wealthsimple support for a minor funds transfer issue. I was given assurances and was told they would get back to me ASAP. After days I contacted them again and I was given a very different answer (and the window for my opportunity had closed). This was a minor issue, but their complete flip-flop after giving me assurances concerns me. If they won't stand by their commitments (for even a minor issue) how will they handle any significant issue relating to my investments? I lost confidence in them after this. Time to look for a new investment firm.

This is a lousy company and app to do…

This is a lousy company and app to do your everyday banking with. It is currently impossible to do cash deposits, they say it is in the beta stages and will roll out whenever. That's no good. If they can call themselves a bank they need to be professional and have these things already going before they start to lure people into their frustrating world. Real life customer service is not in the cards only an annoying AI response which gets you nowhere. My advice is to take your banking elsewhere stick with the majors, I guess.

Unprofessional customer service- they…

Unprofessional customer service- they hold the check clearing amount for more than 10 days - dont provide clear answer when escalate- Their associates close call on customer face and do not take ownership for their own created issues. Digital banking is ending you no where to talk with a real human being in person
I have switched my account to physical a bank.
Definitely do not recommend.

Fraudulent activity without support

Account was created (and apparently confirmed) via this website. I am not even in Canada.

Trying to submit this information is not possible on online channels and unhelpful AI agent simply says that the account has been flagged for review even though no account details or email has been provided.

Provide a way to ensure fraudulent activity is prevented.

Run away......

The account opening and transfer of assets process is awful. I spent hours with the call centre trying to get it sorted out. I finally gave up and asked to delete my account, that took even more time.
Run away, this is a startup and their tech platform is a disaster. I feel fortunate that I did not entrust them with my investments.

I am writing this to highlight a significant security flaw and a complete lack of meaningful customer support at Wealthsimple. Recently, I discovered that my personal email address was used by an unauthorised individual to register for a Wealthsimple account.

Upon discovering this, I immediately attempted to "recover" the account to secure my identity, but the platform’s security protocols prevented me from logging in. While I appreciate some level of security, the subsequent hurdles to resolve this have been unacceptable:

Automated Support Loop: The "live chat" function is restricted to an AI bot that provides nothing but pre-canned, unhelpful responses. There seems to be no straightforward way to escalate to a human agent through the chat interface.

Lack of Email Response: I have reached out to their complaints email address to report this identity concern, yet I have received no response.

Inaccessible for International Users: As I am not based in Canada, Wealthsimple's support has been entirely inflexible. They refused to join a Teams or Google Meet call to verify my identity and instead insisted I dial an international number. In a modern fintech environment, the refusal to use standard digital conferencing tools for international clients is archaic and creates an unnecessary barrier to resolving urgent security issues.

It is deeply unsettling that a financial institution makes it this difficult to report and rectify a fraudulent account registration. If you are an international user, be aware that if something goes wrong, you may find yourself locked out and ignored.

Wealthsimple=Garbage

Wealthsimple has been taken over by liberals it seems! The information they want is intrusive to say the least and they have the audacity to question you to see if you have/make enough money for their app lol Last time I checked it's my money and I'll spend it when, where and on what I want but this is the liberals hard at work to track all your money and gain even more control over what people make. You will not be successful as long as wealthsimple works with the government to intrude/ control your life. Find a different trading app this ones been ruined.

Do not use this banking app for your…

Do not use this banking app for your money. Especially if u have a few $.
My husband tried etranfering a large sum to his CIBC account as we wanted access to buy a home. Had to cancel as they flagged the large amount. Took over a month to unfreeze his accounts and get our money back. Super scary experience.
We even had to involve our financial Ombudsman.

Run!

Once you deposit, don't expect to get your cryptocurrency or even your money back anytime soon. This is a nonstop game of kick the can, being told I have sent an expedited message to the back office. Expect a reply in 3-5days. We are now approaching one month of this nonsense with no recourse.
On #Qu𝘰rent'sevens, responses have been more direct and I haven't had to wait weeks just to get basic updates on my money.

Having this experience as of 2026 I was shocked to find that they still don't have any security backend team with experience. I was saving money for ETFs, basically saving money thinking it was being saved. Tried accessing my account, but account was gone. Even cash card did not work. They had all my credentials and they knew all my details but they will not allow me access to any of my funds because I did not have an active account. I suddenly lost access to my account in Wealthsimple. They asked for SIN, government id, selfies, hundreds of phone calls and they denied I was the account holder. I had to go to one of the big banks to provide me with evidence of money transfer I have been doing to wealthsimple and am still waiting for response to access my funds. Goodbye Fiat money. I don't think I will get my money back :(

They refuse to let me delete my profile

I had a stock that crashed in value and did a reverse split. We got some shares of a new stock that wasn’t listed yet with the promise that it would soon be worth what we lost on the reverse split. I ended up with 5.5 shares of this unlisted, valueless stock. 5 years later and it is still valueless. I want to close my wealthsimple profile but this stock prevents me from doing so. I have contacted their so called support team multiple times and they refuse to remove this stock from my account so that I can delete my profile.

worst experience with them

worst experience with them. while i do think they make automating investments easy. I tried using cheque deposit and they locked my account for 2 weeks for an "investigation". Not sure why they didnt just put a hold on the cheque until it cleared. Anyways they made me jump through verification hoops and I'm still waiting. Their customer service is also terrible at responding. Going to invest elsewhere

They can't be trusted and the service…

They can't be trusted and the service is terrible. They've had my account on hold for days after making me go through multiple identity checks, even going so far as to demand for more documents. It's feel intrusive and disrespect for my privacy. My experience with #Stovëx #Global has been smooth and clear, and responses come quickly when needed.
