Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people expressed concerns about the consistency between initial online quotes and final offers received in person. Customers frequently reported substantial reductions in the offered price, often by hundreds or even thousands of pounds, citing various reasons such as minor cosmetic wear or other discrepancies. This led to a strong sense of dissatisfaction regarding the value for money provided. Some people were dissatisfied with the service and staff, describing certain interactions as unprofessional, rude, or confrontational. Reviewers mentioned instances where staff members were perceived as dismissive or unhelpful, and some felt that the inspection process was superficial. However, a few other people also felt that some staff members were pleasant, professional, and provided a good experience.

Dishonest, misleading, avoid like the plague

We went to the pod at Locks Heath, Hampshire. We didn't expect to be offered the online price, which seems to be just bait to get you in. However, the operative rated the car at level 2, which is the second best available, and that price was acceptable. We weren't able to sell the car immediately but the operative assured us the price would be held for 4 days subject to no material change in condition.
On our return, 4 days later, there was a different operative. He claimed to have input the same details as the first one but the offer price had dropped by some £300. He had no sensible explanation for this and just blamed the system.
No problem we thought. This business sells itself as trustworthy. We parted with the car and decided to complain to management, who we expected to honour the commitment made by their agent.
Not a chance. The reason for the lower price was that operative 2 had secretly reduced the condition score to 3 and lied about doing so. Management rejected the complaint by e mail and eventually phoned us when we persisted. They basically blamed operative 1 for the misleading information given but refused to make any move towards honouring the commitment he made.
Might as well go to any other dodgy second hand car dealer.

Trustpilot rating they advertise is not for UK

My car is old but low mileage, good condition, MOT, I brought full service history, every garage bill for 15 years, every MOT cert. Two keys. The price offered online was about right. I was offered half on the day! The guy explained the online offer assumes perfect condition. A 15 year old car! It’s assumed that having gone to the trouble of going there with all documents, you will just accept their offer. I left. This was a waste of time. They had a 4.5 star Trustpilot rating on the front of their portocabin. This is fake. It is based on the US parent company, they are exploiting.

Not even worthy of one star

Unfortunately, I had read reviews on Trustpilot for ‘We buy any Car.com’ instead of ‘We buy any car. Uk. I can only reiterate what other reviewers are saying DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. An appallingly dishonest company. I was offered less than one eighth of what I had been quoted online. The rude ‘youth’ who dealt with me said the valuation was wrong due to the incorrect mileage being entered despite the fact that I had noticed my error and corrected the mileage and was still given a comparable online quote. Absolutely the worst company I have ever had dealings with.

When I went for my appointment it dropped to £320. The youth doing the appraisal was unable or incapable of explaining why.

I declined his generous offer.

Sold 3 days later through motorway for £1,123

Unless your car is near enough scrap don’t bother with this robbing bunch. My recommendation would be use motorway, they were exceptional throughout!

Seller Beware

When I took the car for the appointment, the offer dropped by 10%. They classed it as age related wear and tear - what does one expect for a 9 year old car? That was the key reason they reduced the offer. When I queried it, they said they can't assume the condition when making an initial offer. But apparently they did - they assumed it was in showroom condition! One might think they should assume it is in age related wear and tear condition but that is obviously too much to ask. Then when I said I couldn't leave the car that day, but could bring it back 2 days later they started reducing the price further.

I also noted that the guy who examined the car hardly looked at the interior and spent less than 2 minutes examining the exterior and didn't even start the engine. Overall, not a good experience.

However, I should be fair in stating that the final offer was probably a fair one so it's the unfair practice of quoting a price they were never going to pay that I object to.

I should also say in fairness, that I sold a car to them about 2 years and sale was dealt with in a much more professional manner.

Avoid unless you’re desperate. Reasonable offer made to lure you in…

Reasonable offer made to lure you in then any excuse to drop the offer. My 12 year old car had a couple of scuffs and some rusted stone chips marks on bonnet but very good for the age of car. They dropped the offer by £900 for that. Said they graded it 4, 5 is the lowest grading. Absolutley ridiculous and waste of my time. I did not sell my car tonight them but received a much much better offer from another company. I wouldn’t recommend them atall. The only reason I gave a star is the young man working for them was very pleasant and friendly

We rip you off more like

We rip you off more like - they reel you in with a message saying your car valuation is so much - you make an appointment and go to one of there vary silly sheds (which the over heads are very little as there is nothing in there other than a chair) to then be told your car value is about 2k less than they said - I’ve been twice now with the same vehicle and believed me there was £1k difference on the offer price within a week - do not trust these people they tell lies and temp you - there is a saying - if it’s to good to be true then it isn’t- maybe they should change their name to this

Legal scam

Horsham branch.

My car has been valued online £5000.

It’s already £4000 lower than autotrader.

At home we agreed to take £5000 and remove the car from the car park because we don’t drive very often.

16 plates
Fully service history
Ceramic coating
New tyres
Front window tinted
Clean in and out
So shiny

Once at the office they offered £4400.

Penalise what?

The inspector said wow about everything!!!!

They take advantage of vulnerable people that mean my car stay at home till is a block of rust but I won’t give you anything.

Good luck sellers 👋🏼
