Less than expected for our Corvette
I wanted to sell our 1 owner 2017 1LT Stingray Corvette with 8 speed automatic and 55,000 miles in January 2022. They initially offered my 45,500. However, a CarFax report showed a minor body repair to the front bumper. Then, they dropped their price to $42,000 and said take it or leave it. We wanted it sold so we took the offer. At the time, the retail market for our car was $50,000 plus so we lost at least $8k on the deal. But, we did receive a check on the spot and they hauled our car away. Looking back, we should have sold it ourself!

Our online valuation is an estimate based on the information provided by the customer, and the offer is set once a professional, in-person appraisal has verified the vehicle's condition and history. On your Corvette, the CARFAX report showed a reported damage event. Many dealers and private buyers will not touch a car with damage or accident history of any kind on its CARFAX, however well the repair was done, so that record has a real effect on value. We kept our adjustment for it to the absolute minimum, which left us only a small margin on the deal.
A retail price is what a dealer sells a car for off their lot, so it will always be higher than an outright cash offer. Dealers are in business to make money, and the markup you mentioned on a car like yours is a reasonable one given the risks and overheads a dealer takes on when selling a used vehicle. Selling privately can get you closer to a retail number, but it is a risky path when the car is an expensive sports car.

When you valued your vehicle online on 9/13/2026, you told us it had never been involved in an accident and had no physical or mechanical issues. The estimate was built on that information provided by the customer, which in your case described a car in great shape with no problems. Our offer follows a professional, in-person appraisal, and that is where the verified condition of the vehicle painted a different picture.
Your vehicle's Experian AutoCheck history discloses an accident reported by police. That matters to any buyer, not only to us. Every future buyer who pulls a history report will see it, an accident on the record reduces what a vehicle is worth even when the damage was fixed well, and it means the quality of that work has to be checked closely rather than taken on trust.
Our appraisal identified 5 physical and cosmetic issues that were not reflected in the online estimate, including:
- A cracked windshield that needs replacing
- Poor previous repairs to the passenger side rear door and quarter panel, leaving both panels to be refinished
- A dented tailgate
- A damaged alloy wheel
Our OBD-II diagnostic scan revealed 1 active fault code:
- P2610 - ECM/PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance

Exceptional experience with Jonathan!
I had an exceptional experience with Jonathan at Webuyanycar.com location in Kissimmee. He was very friendly and explained from start to finish how the processed worked and what was entailed. He answered all of my questions carefully, and also did an thorough inspection of the car. I wasn't sure if I was going to sell it today or not, and he never pressured me to do so. He gave me all of the information and made an offer which was very fair, much higher than the dealer was going to give me on trade. It was a good enough deal that we made the deal on the spot, and I took an Uber home. Jonathan was easy to talk to, and I genuinely enjoyed meeting him and working through the transaction. I had the money in my bank account via Zelle before my Uber even got there after we signed the paperwork. The whole process took about 90 minutes but would probably have been faster if we weren't having such a great conversation, honestly. Thanks Jonathan!
