In it for the wrong reasons…

In it for the wrong reasons…

We booked our Montenegrin wedding through ‘Go Wedding Montenegro’ agency after doing our research online from England and doing what most people do, reading the reviews on various websites and social media. This agency appears to be one of only 3 agencies’ in Montenegro (according to Google) and we felt the package they were offering was closest to our expectations.

We were assigned a wedding planner, Julia Glazova, and the whole process didn’t start off too badly, as she seemed friendly and enthusiastic. But as we got closer to the date we started to feel that they weren’t quite pulling their weight as much as we’d hoped. Trying to plan everything from England without having visited the country was proving challenging and stressful so as you can imagine we were having to place all our trust in these guys to source what we were after and at the best price. It soon became apparent that with a bit of extra effort on our part we could source the individual items for things such as the overlay much cheaper!

Perhaps it’s partly down to the Montenegrin, or Russian, style of style of doing business where you don’t necessarily see everything upfront or see the small print in advance but we found it frustrating, and in the end gave us little recourse for saying or doing anything such as demanding refunds. We’re not just talking about the purchasing of different things, but also the logistics and itinerary on the day and in the lead up to it. They didn’t communicate some key info to us like where to be and at what time etc.

We did however have a magical wedding day! But this is down to the hard work and compassion shown by the hotel/catering staff. Shout outs to ‘Casa Del Mare’ hotel group - they were brilliant. We felt like our day was a success in spite of the wedding agency rather than because of them, which is of course totally the wrong way round!

Our wedding coordinator on the day, Olga Getun, who was incidentally, the director of the agency, lacked compassion and professionalism. We’re going to refrain from going into specific detail but she behaved inappropriately and caused much distress to the bride! Totally unprofessional and she never followed up after the day with a call / text. We have not heard from her since! There has been no message of congratulations the day after from her, our wedding coordinator or anyone at the agency.

The only communication we have had with them recently, was when I emailed them last week to tell them to remove our wedding photographs from the portfolio pages of their website, which they were using without our permission!

All of this is not an easy write, but we feel that other couples planning their wedding in Montenegro should know about these guys. That is not to say the other agencies are necessarily any better, but we wanted to give an honest summary of our day so that other couples, especially booking from the UK, have a bit more of an informed choice.

Good Luck
