100% recommend!

Matt is always on hand for any questions that I have and really adapted the food suggestions to suit my lifestyle. The check-ins are great and he really motivates me on days when I need it! 100% recommend Matt. He is so knowledgable and really looks at the bigger picture of not just exercise. Plus he's got a great sense of humour!! If you are thinking of having an Online Coach - THIS IS YOUR MAN!!

If Matt can help me, he can literally help anyone!

I’ve been online training with Matt for 3 months now, with his guidance and the app I am smashing my goals at losing weight, getting stronger and getting healthier mentally and physically. I was really in a rut before his programme, completely inexperienced in the gym and working long hours and caring for my four year old, like so many people are. He managed to help find a way to find time for myself and my health which I didn’t think was possible. Thank you Matt!

Matt has a huge amount of knowledge in the fitness industry. When it comes to exercise and nutrition there’s not a lot that will challenge Matt. I thank him for my amazing transformation. For over two years Matt put me through my paces and changed my entire mindset regarding strength training. Thanks for being the #1 personal trainer.

Incredible knowledge & very result driven

Having spent the best part of two years with Matt, he completely changed my mindset from ‘I can easily reach my fitness goals myself’, to understanding the value he could add as a personal trainer and lifestyle coach. My fitness and general well-being improved quickly after our one-to-one sessions, plus my lifestyle choices has greatly improved as well.
I’d highly recommend Matt if you’re looking to improve your overall health and fitness.

World Class Trainer

I have trained with Matt for a few years with a goal of improving my strength and general fitness. This year we set a goal of achieving 400Kgs on the sledge leg press which with his encouragement and training we achieved yesterday, not bad for a 60-year-old!
Each session includes humour (so he says), encouragement and challenging workouts which as I get fitter he has to adjust and introduce new exercises, so you don’t get bored and always enjoy the sessions.
Matt is a world class trainer, and I would recommend him to anyone.

Great PT, and all round fitness and health professional

When I first went to the gym, I was always a bit worried about whether I was doing the right thing and never had a plan. I also had no idea about diet.

We sat down and agreed some goals, and Matt put the necessary steps in place to make me both a confident and competent gym goer. Never in a million years, would I have found myself doing weights or thinking about resiliency based excercise. Now I go into the gym and find myself happy, confident, with people remarking, ‘you must have a really good trainer’ as they observe the excercise that I undertake.

In this fast paced world, where work, family and friends can take centre stage, Matt has helped to really align my priorities to thinking about my health and well-being too.

Best shape of my life

I asked Matt coach me in the run up to my wedding. In approx 4 and 1/2 months I lost 7kg and 10% body fat. I was motivated and accountable which is somthing I have always struggled with and Matt was always on hand every time I needed a pep talk or to have a chat about how it was going.
He knew the right time to switch things up to keep my body guessing and responding.
Now a run up to wedding is not without it's fun times and I achieve all my goals and felt the most confident I ever have without having to miss out on a single event or limit myself to not enjoy myself. Truly if you work hard most of the time, it takes a lot for hard work to be undone!
Thanks so much Matt for making me wedding ready and having my honeymoon body on point!

Very highly recommended

Matt has a fantastic approach to fitness and nutrition. He is super supportive with my goals and provides realistic targets. He is very knowledgeable about the impact of physical health on mental health and appreciates people have different training needs at different times. His online coaching also works really well when I’m pushed for time and need more regular nudges!

Knowledgeable and results driven

I first met Matt through a personal friend and we'd spoken about fitness on and off.
As 2019 arrived my weight was on the rise (I'd had major knee reconstruction in 2017 which had failed in 2018 so some movement was limited), so coupled with a fairly sedentary job and a drop in motivation I reached out to Matt to see what could be done.
From our first conversation he was understanding of challenges faced, however undaunted, we set clear objectives and didn't look back. My weight dropped, strength increased and within 12-months was back to pre knee injury levels for compound moves.
Over 2020 and 2021 Matt kept the motivation going when the gyms weren't open due to lockdown, going above and beyond to ensure nutrition was on track and movement was key to my day.
Now I regularly work with Matt on prehab (afore mentioned injury being rebuilt again) and general fitness levels to ensure home working and family life with young children doesn't take its toll on my waistline!
To anyone starting their fitness journey, need help if they've hit a plateau or just need that extra level of motivation I would highly recommend Matt as the guy to help them reach their goals.

Great online content

I've known Matt for a number of years and followed his online presence which is great content. I've got to know him better since he's been dating my sister, so her review of him might be better or worse. Time will tell. He is funny and knowledgable, but most importantly he's up front with his views, and there's no doubt that his methods work for his clients.

Great PT!

Matt helped me get my nutrition intake to an optimum standard for a much healthier lifestyle and helped me 2.5 stone for my wedding. His continual support was amazing and gave me to tools to continue on with my health journey. Would recommend very highly at anyone at any level of fitness.

Excellent Basingstoke based PT

Matt is a highly knowledgable and personable PT who excels in tailoring training plans to an individual’s specific needs. If you need to lose some weight or pack on some muscle fast then he’s your guy.

Excellent and fun personal trainer

I first met Matt about 10 years back at the gym in Basingstoke, when Matt also used to run spinning classes, besides being a PT. I used to work in Basingstoke, so went to the gym lunchtimes.
As time went by I wanted to up my game from just cardio/running to adding proper weight sessions which would help my running.
I asked around my local work office and Matts name always came up as the best Personal Trainer at the gym. One of my work collegues starting using Matt as a PT, and I noticed the vast difference in my work collegues fitness as he progressed, so I contacted Matt and away we went.
Having Matt as a PT helped me progress with form on my weight sessions, which included anything from deadlifts, squats, bench presses, barbell hip thrusts, bulgarian leg squats and a vast array of other exercises I had never seen or heard of before.
It was always great fun, and those weight exercises helped me progress my main love of running.
HR at my work place commissioned Matt to give a presentation to our office on diet, nutrition and fitness which was well received by the office. So if you need any diet or nutrition information, Matt is the person to speak to.
Sadly I no longer work in Basingstoke, and certainly miss my PT sessions with Matt, but for anyone looking for a very good PT who also has a weath of fitness, diet and nutrition information around Basingstoke and beyond, Matt Cowell is your man.

Trained with Matt for 6+ years. He's the ultimate professional with a surgical knowledge of fitness and nutrition. He has always been extremely flexible to accommodate my often rapidly changing schedule and knows how to get the best results for me.

Recommend Matt 100%

For the last 6 months I’ve been doing Online Coaching with Matt and never looked back. I’ve been training in the gym for over 40 years and even competed in weightlifting, but as I’ve got into my 60’s I’ve struggled with motivation. Matt has completely changed that for me! He’s got me back to even the basics such as walking every day, his training programmes have over time got me back to training harder and with more intensity, and the meal plans have been so helpful. Matt has taught me so much, particularly on the nutrition side which I can tell he’s very passionate about. I’ve lost SO much weight since starting my journey with Matt and am back to enjoying my training like I used to.

If you are looking for someone to motivate and inspire you plus ensure you get the results you’re after, Matt’s your guy!

Fantastic Coach

I’ve been doing Online Coaching with Matt since the first lockdown and never looked back. Matt has kept me motivated to do regular at home and gym workouts and helped so much with my food choices. He’s so knowledgeable but most importantly goes at your pace, he listens and has supported me with all challenages I’ve had along the way.

As a woman in my 50’s it’s been tough to start and harder to shift the weight but through Matt’s amazing coaching I’ve lost so much weight but most importantly am much more confident in myself and with my training. Plus, I feel much healthier! I’d highly recommend Matt and his Online Coaching services to everyone. You won’t regret it!
