We’re really sorry to hear that you didn’t get a quick lather you were hoping for from the applicator.

We’ve recently upgraded our formula to deliver a richer lather and stronger scent. Because our bars are made with naturally derived ingredients (and skip sulfates), they can feel a little different from standard supermarket soaps, but we know how important a good lather is.

Our recommendation is to ensure both your skin and the applicator are fully wet before use. Then, apply in circular motions to create the best lather and maximise efficiency with your applicator.

Like most suction mounts, Bob’s shower mount works best on glass or shiny tiles. That said, we know not everyone has those surfaces, so we’ve been working hard behind the shower curtain on an adhesive accessory that will work across more surface types. It’s already in the testing phase, and we’re hoping to launch it very soon! 👀

We’re glad you enjoyed the scents, but we'd really like to improve your experience regarding lather and longevity. Bob is definitely a different way of showering compared to traditional gels or standard bar soap, and we appreciate that it won’t click with everyone straight away.

Many of our community members find that once they get the rhythm with Bob, the experience becomes much quicker and smoother, especially by first building up a good lather before washing. In terms of the bar size, the bars are intentionally designed to work with the applicator, which helps control how much soap is used per wash. Most customers get around 10–15 washes per bar, although this can vary depending on usage. We’ve also recently introduced Bob Bundles, which offer more refills at a discounted cost for customers who go through bars more quickly.

We completely understand why you were disappointed, expecting to receive an applicator alongside your bars. After looking into this, it appears that a refill order was placed rather than a shower pack; however, we appreciate that this may not have been clear during the ordering process.

We’ve responded to your email and have arranged for a shower pack to be sent out to you.

In terms of the bar size, Bob bars are designed to be used with the applicator, which helps control how much soap is used per wash. Most of our community gets around 10–15 washes per bar, although this can vary depending on usage.

We also recently introduced Bob Bundles, which offer more refills at a discounted cost for customers who go through bars more quickly and want better overall value.

Thank you for sharing your experience so far.

We're really sorry to hear you're having some trouble using your applicator. You should be able to push the soap up by pressing the “+” button on the side of the applicator.

Once the bar has been pushed up, we recommend ensuring both your skin and the applicator are fully wet before use. Then, apply in fast circular motions to create the best lather and get the most efficiency out of your applicator.

Thanks so much for the great review. It really means a lot, especially coming from someone who’s been with Bob since the early days.

It's great that you've had a great experience thus far. And you'll be pleased to know that we’ve been working hard behind the shower curtain on some exciting new things, and we can’t wait to share them with you soon 👀

Also, thanks as well for flagging the applicator bristles. Bob’s bristles are designed to be durable and flexible, but they can sometimes get bent out of shape if caught in the lid or not dried correctly in the mount.

We’ve found the following steps can help:
Hold the applicator, bristles facing down, in a bowl or sink of hot water for around 20 seconds (just be careful not to burn yourself). Then, gently massage them back into place with your fingers. Lastly, let Bob air dry in its mount, bristles facing down, so they can reform.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Bob.

Bob was originally designed to wash your “bits and bobs” (hence the name Bob). The long, slim design of the applicator was created to comfortably wash harder-to-reach areas, such as the groin and between the cheeks. However, we completely understand your sentiments around the surface area.

Our recommendation for a fast, efficient wash is to ensure you're completely wet and that the applicator is wet before you make contact with your skin in fast circular motions to get the most efficiency out of your applicator.

That said, we completely understand that everyone has their own preferred way of washing, especially if you’re used to using a flannel or sponge, so we really appreciate you sharing your experience with us - we're a very new startup, but we're constantly learning from our customers' experiences.

While our bars are sulfate-free and naturally derived (which can create a different type of lather compared to traditional shower gels), we completely understand that if it doesn’t feel like it’s working for you, that’s incredibly disappointing.

We’ve recently upgraded our formula to improve both the richness of the lather and scent performance, but we appreciate that it can still feel different to traditional shower gels.

We appreciate we’re not the cheapest on the market, but we pride ourselves on using the cleanest and best ingredients, and manufacturing in Scotland, both of which come at a premium. We are always trying to reduce the price where we can, but as a new start-up, it takes time to build order volume and achieve economies of scale.

Bob can take a little getting used to as it’s a completely new way to wash. For anyone struggling with lather, a small tweak in technique usually does the trick. A quick, firm circular motion with the applicator builds the lather up properly, then you can spread it from there.

If it’s still not sticking, it may be due to the surface type. Like most suction mounts, Bob works best on glass or shiny tiles.

We know that’s not ideal for everyone, so we’re currently testing a new adhesive accessory that will work across more surface types, something we’re planning to launch in the near future.

Great to hear you're enjoying the fragrances and convenience of Bob!

We really appreciate your feedback on the last bit of the bar, too. The applicator is designed that way to hold the soap securely; if it is pushed up too far, it would likely fall out during use.

That said, we completely understand your point. This is something we could look at for future development. For now, we usually recommend applying a bit more pressure toward the end to get the most out of the bar. Some customers also prefer to pop the remaining piece out and use it manually to avoid any waste.

There should only be a couple of millimetres of soap left. If it seems like more than that or doesn’t look quite right, feel free to send us a photo at info@welcometobob.com and we’ll happily take a look.
