Will raise your storage rental more than SB702 allows

I entered into a rental agreement on December 16, 2025, and on May 1, 2026, I received a notification after reaching out to the company due to an increase in the amount due on the payment portal, which rose from $119 to $164. In accordance with California’s SB 702, Storage Rental Act, any increase should not exceed 5% plus the inflation rate or 10%, whichever is lower, which would amount to a maximum of $11.90. After I communicated with the company, their reply indicated that they would lower the rental fee to $159, which still exceeds the requirements set forth by SB 702. I foresee a potential class action lawsuit as they are knowingly violating the law. If you have experienced a similar situation, it is important to hold them accountable.
