Wheelsports.de A Complete Nightmare !
On April 18, 2023 I ordered an Orbea Urrun 30 from Orbea-versand.de (= Wheelsports.de). 3025,- euros paid by bank. Orbea-versand.de is an international supplier of the brand is stated on their website with the slogan: Der Orbea Bike Onlineshop mit weltweitem Versand.
What should have been a nice experience turned into a nightmare with a lot of frustration and damage for me as a customer.
The bike was in stock at Wheelsports.de and the shipping would be 1-6 working days + 5-6 days extra because of a lack of employers. Because I needed the bike for a cycling holiday abroad, I reguarly contacted Wheelsports.de so that everything would run smoothly and the bike would be delivered on time. For shipping, Wheelsports works with shipping partners DHL, UPS and DPD and on May 9, Wheelsports announced that the bike was shipping with DHL. No shipment was known at DHL. I also received the message from Wheelsports that the shipment would go through GEL expedition. GEL only stated that it was stored there in overnight storage. GEL was supposed to call me but nothing happened and my email to GEL went unanswered.
I emailed Frank Dressler, the owner of Wheelsports, and was told that the bike was on its way and that he thought (!!!) that they should be able to make the delivery on time.
Nothing happened and the bike remained in GEL's overnight storage.
In the meantime I had gone abroad without the bike and on May 26 I received the message from Dani (Wheelsports administration?). She said that GEL does not deliver to private individuals. (!!!!) And her question was if I had a company or if I knew someone with a company (?????????????) WHAT DO I HEAR NOW? I ordered as a private person.
Wheelsports has on its website that they ship bicycles to the Netherlands for 49 euros. But in the end, (almost 2 months later !) I was told they couldn't find a shipping company for that price. (?????)
The bike was still in GEL's overnight storage on June 13, almost two months after my order.
So Wheelsports had done nothing to properly arrange the shipment or get my bike back from GEL.
Confidence in the professionalism of Wheelsports was completely lost and I demanded my money back. I have already received that. Wheelsports commentary: unfortunately it is now the case that we cannot find a shipper to the Netherlands.(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Result: Much annoyance, a ruined cycling holiday, financial loss for me and no bike after two months.
Conclusion: Orbea-versand.de (by Wheelsports.de) has no overview of shipments, has no staff and is not able to ship to another (neighboring) country.
What they offer beautifully on their website is not true and only leads to misery.
And in doing so, they also damage the Orbea brand.
Buy at Wheelsports.de ? NEVER AGAIN.
So on 4 september 2025 TWO AND A HALF YEAR LATER finally a reaction on the my review. Says enough about the complete chaos at Wheelsports.de. And they still think that Amsterdam is situated in Belgium !
It shows that Wheelsports is no more than an embarrassing "bussiness" Shame on you !
