Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 250 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported that their appliances, including washers, stoves, refrigerators, and microwaves, stopped working or malfunctioned shortly after purchase, some within months or a few years. Reviewers frequently encountered issues with product quality, such as a washer tank rusting, a dryer stopping after 10 minutes, or a refrigerator light failing prematurely, indicating a lack of durability. The customer service was widely criticized for long wait times, unhelpful representatives, and an inability to resolve problems, often leading to frustration and repeated calls without resolution. Many also expressed dissatisfaction with the warranty process, finding that advertised 10-year warranties did not cover critical parts or that service providers were unwilling to honor them, leading to significant repair costs. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that despite initial damage, their issue was eventually resolved with a replacement and follow-up, suggesting some positive outcomes in specific cases.

Bought this French door fridge 5 months…

Bought this French door fridge 5 months ago since then it has never worked correctly so far it has had 3 icemskers replaced every valve and water line has been replaced but now it's leaking water from the door and not cooling properly spoke with jeneverre Thomas on numerous occasions and its always something mostly my fault from not enough water flow to not enough pressure even though I had to go buy a new supply line because the installer they sent never came back with one as he promised he would now it's my water pressure even though my pump is set at 60psi and normal city pressure is 20 to 40 psi. This fridge is nothing but junk and they just keep wanting to throw papers and service to a junk fridge attempting to fix a fridge that doesn't cool properly and leaks water everywhere I've had 6 repeat repairs in 5 months and the customer service at this company truly is a joke I will not recommend or buy another pile of junk from whirlpool Corp

My Whirlpool model WTW4816FW3.

My Whirlpool model WTW4816FW3.
It broke down four months after the warranty expired.
I called WP for this issue and their support were very terrible. They transfered one person to the next one, and the wait times were almost half of the day.
The last person could not help me much. She collected the model and the serial number of the machine and told me that my machine is out of warranty.
I still have other two machines; the dishwashing and the refrigerator. Once they get older, I will get rid of them and will never come back!

Worst support!

Attempts to reach customer support were unsuccessful; the phone line was not answered, and the live chat had no available agents.

Washer issues, horrible customer service.

Brand new washer issue within first two months. Whirpool came out, ordered two parts. One was on "national back order". Never received a call. Had a techinican scheduled, had a car accident, no show, no call. Got a new service appoitment and no one is showin up again. Can't get a hold of customer service. Been on hold for hours, multiple times. 3 months later. Unaccetable.

Zero customer service / broken promises / ghosting

Used to be Whirlpool missionary but not anymore! Whirlpool told us 4 weeks ago replacement parts for our brand new water softener that broke around the 30 day mark were going to be mailed to us in 5-7 business days. We have since called and left multiple messages, multiple emails, which no one responds. I just went to their website to do "live chat" and have been waiting for almost 1 hour with message "Please wait while we connect you to an agent." It's quite clear Whirlpool is NOT what it used to be! And unfortunately makes sense why they are 1.5 stars on Trustpiolot and 2.8 stars on Google. I should have seen this before I spent the money on a brand new unit. It's has now been sitting in my basement longer broken than it was working. Until this gets resolved I will NEVER buy Whirlpool product again. This already cost them a sale since I just bought a new microwave, there was an LG and Whirlpool on sale for the same price - which one do you think I bought!

Can’t ever reach customer service

Can’t ever reach customer service. I have Whirlpool Gold Series electric convection wall unit oven. When you use the self clean mode, the unit overheats, blows the fuse and oven locks up. Cost $250 to repair. Do Not BUY. Very disappointed.

My dishwasher broke down within a year

My dishwasher broke down within a year, then I was roped into a customer service plan that was so difficult to get out of. This has been the WORST experience I have had with an appliance. It is NOT worth it, do not buy whirlpool unless you want a product that breaks, and have to deal with a plan that is expensive to cancel.

service is horrid

Earlier this year, around April I think, our fridge started making noise in the damper, I guess its called, in the fridge section. While tech was here I mentioned the freezer not making ice, and that I had to keep a chopstick on the bar so I could go in and manually "defrost" the ice maker, so the ice tray could dump. he replaced the damper (2nd visit). Third visit he replaced the ice maker. Still wasn't making ice, so called Costco again. Sent tech out again, 4th visit, he ordered a new ice/water dispenser. 5th visit he came out to install said dispenser. 6th visit, I called Costco again because the ice was side shooting, so tech came out again, and we realized that whirlpool did not send the funnel thing that makes the ice fall straight into the glass. I also mentioned that I was still not getting ice. 7th visit to replace ice/water dispenser with funnel and I believe another ice maker. 7th visit still not making ice, tech came out and told me I am getting you a new door. He is as fed up as I am. he ordered the door, He came out, 8th visit, unpackaged the door and it was the WRONG COLOR. At this point the tech and I laughed. He ordered the door AGAIN and had it shipped to his shop. Finally came in, another 8 weeks later. 9th visit now, he came out and installed the door. Worked fine for about a month and, last weekend and this weekend I had to go buy ice! It is just me and my husband...we don't go through a lot of ice. I called Costco again today, and they are going to send my tech out again. I don't think a new fridge or a refund costs as much as the RPL parts and shipping of said parts and the cost of my tech coming out now, what...at LEAST 10 times (I honestly lost count). I of course can't get a hold of whirlpool to them out, so I am trying to hold my anger towards Costco. It ain't their fault, but I think they would have enough influence with whirlpool to facilitate a new fridge or a refund.

NO REAL-TIME SERVICE IN AZ

I have a 4-month old Whirlpool side by side refrigerator freezer that is 4 months old. The temperature control for the fridge section has started to take very long to cool down, to where food will spoil. I put in a work order to Whirlpool, but they have no direct service in AZ, and only have one authorized service company for the whole Phoenix area: Guinco Service. Guinco is 14 days out for service. IT IS NOT REASONABLE TO BE WITHOUT A REFRIGERATOR FOR 2+ WEEK.

Service Job Number: SWPT94A7B7D7-1
Model: WRS315SNHM
Serial: HRC3807202

I wanted to buy American, but with so little concern for local customer service, no wonder they are losing market share to China and Korea.

Placed an order for a microwave

Placed an order for a microwave. Waited a week for delivery. A driver called 5 minutes before delivery when we had already left to drop kids off at school. Said he wouldn’t leave it Re delivery….. another week away .. called to cancel my order because that’s absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. Lady argued with me for my refund Once she “issued the refund request” gave me a confirmation number. I asked for an email confirmation showing the refund is in process. She stated they don’t do that. So they’re quick to email you once you place and order and take your money but won’t email when you request a refund. First and Absolute LAST time i order a product from whirlpool

Please Avoid the NIGHTMARES with WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCES

Is there any rating that is less than a zero? That is what Whirlpool deserves based on my experiences with this company. I bought a new house with Whirlpool dish washer. From day one this dishwasher never worked. I was asked to call ASI - a company that does all the Whirlpool appliance warranty repairs. ASI works hand in hand with Whirlpool. ASI made several trips to my house to repair my brand new dishwasher. ( AT LEAST 8 VISITS) They replaced the soap dispensing unit and INSTRUCTED ME NOT TO USE THE SOAP AND RINSE AID THAT CAME WITH THE DISHWASHER. I stopped using it and bought a different kind of soap.
There was no way of removing the rinse aid from the dishwasher according to them, so how was I suppose to stop using the rinse aid? I was told to wait until it runs out. Whirlpool believes that it was the rinse aid that was preventing the dishwasher from washing the dishes properly.
By this time, my warranty was about to run out and the dishwasher still has a lot of rinse aid in it. I was told by Whirlpool to call them when the rinse aid runs out and that sinse this it was an ongoing issue, they would honor the request. So I called Whirlpool only to be told that "SORRY WE CAN'T HELP YOU BECAUSE YOUR APPLIANCE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. YOU NEED TO BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM US IN ORDER TO FIX YOUR DISHWASHER. I REMINDED THEM OF THEIR PROMISES AND TOLD THEM I WAS NOT NOT GOING TO PAY THEM TO EXTEND MY
PAIN AND HEADACHE.
WHIRLPOOL PROMISED TO REPLACE THE APPLIANCE AFTER 4 REPAIRS, AND THEY MADE OVER 8 TRIPS TO MY HOUSE. YET, THEY REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR PROMISES. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HEARTBROKEN IN MY LIFE.
AS FOR ME, MY HOUSEHOLD, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, WE WILL NEVER USE WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS EVER AGAIN!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WHIRLPOOL MAKE OTHER PRODUCTS WITH DIFFERENT NAMES. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND AVOID THEM. IT IS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE!!!!

Bought a new refrigerator in July 2025

Bought a new refrigerator in July 2025, freezer doesn't get below 34 degrees. Service tech came out said it was low on freon but didn't have any with him. Talked to him twice about coming back out, but now he isn't returning may calls and it's been 6-weeks since he was here.
Emails to Whirlpool have gone unanswered. 9-18-25 I have been on hold for over 33 minutes. Never buy this brand again !!

Worst appliance company to date *Beware*

Purchased a home in at the end of July with new appliances included. We recently got power turned on and plugged in our new fridge. To our surprise it did not cool, so we reached out and was told to contact whirlpool as it was under warranty.

We contacted whirlpool who then would not put the warranty start date as the day we got power, keep saying it had to be the day we bought the home. (Strike one - they made me lose 2 months of a warranty).

Then they offered me a service plan for additional insurance on the appliance which I refused. Then they told me for a service tech to come out it would cost me $150. When I told them it was a new appliance and that it should not cost me, they told me that is why they offered me the other plan. So to avoid the $150 fee, I signed up for the insurance at a discounted rate. (Strike 2 - Scam to force you into an insurance purchase).

The service Tech comes out and says they are unable to do the repair, so we call back and they tell us they will have to send anther company out. They did not provide me a date, so I called back to be told that they are trying to find someone as there is no other service providers in my area. Then they start asking for move-in date documents which can't be provided as we have not moved in. Since we could not provide a date, they then ask for purchase documents of the home (which should not be any of their business). Then proceeded to tell me that they will call me back the next business day. (Strike - 3 refusing to replace a broken appliance)

Whirlpool/Maytag Wouldn't Honor Warranty

Whirlpool/Maytag refused to replace the glass cooktop while under warranty. On August 14th their recommended technician came out to examine a hairline crack in our electric Maytag oven/cooktop. Whirlpool/Maytag refused to replace the repair because they called the crack cosmetic. I called back and scheduled another service call with a different repair company that they sent on the 29 of August and they again denied the replacement even after this service calls there were now 2 cracks. I spoke to a care advisor, a supervisor and a manager over a period of 3 or 4 days and they wanted to call the cracks cosmetic. The manger state that cast iron skillets or cooking wear that doesn't have smooth bottoms could cause gouges in the cook top. That was a ridiculous statement. Glass cooking tops are not wood or plastic that one could make a gouge if they were beating the stove top with them. Sliding cookware across the glass top wouldn't make the glass crack. The model number of my Maytag stove/cook top is MES8800PZ1. Avoid this model and I would encourage anyone considering a Whirlpool or Maytag appliance to think twice about buying since they wouldn't honor their one year warranty.
