I had an extremely frustrating and unbelievable experience with Brightside Moving Company. Initially, they quoted me $4,444 for my move (spoke to both Washington Sena, and Vincent Giudice), which seemed fair, so I was pressured into quickly paying a deposit without being able to do a 100% accurate inventory. I made sure to overestimate the number of boxes, and listed all large furniture pieces. Five days later, I was contacted for an item-by-item inventory by James, only to be told that the total cost would now be over $12,000 – nearly three times the original quote. When I asked for a refund of my deposit, I was told no because it had passed the 72-hour window for refunds. They made everything sound smooth and easy when it came to getting my money, but when it came down to the actual move, they completely hustled me and tried to charge me far more than what I had initially agreed to. I would highly advise avoiding this company – they are misleading and dishonest in their pricing practices. I was called tonight for this inventory 2/9/25 at around 6:30 pm, who then assured me there was no one higher up that I could speak to in regards to this modern day scam they just pulled off. After I refused to agree to the new quote, he called me back and said he applied every discount he could, and gave me a new quote for $10,000! If I could give zero stars, I would.

Our initial estimate was based on the information you provided, including your household inventory and specific moving requirements. In your complaint, you acknowledged that your inventory list was not entirely accurate. While you included all large furniture items and overestimated your box count, your initial inventory consisted of 24 items and 145 pieces, including 115 boxes. However, the final inventory you provided to James included 108 items and 232 pieces, with approximately 100 boxes. This means that about 100 additional furniture and unboxable items were not included in your original inventory.

As our representative explained, any increase in the inventory would result in a corresponding price adjustment at the same rate as your original reservation.

We regret that this experience did not meet your expectations. Our representatives thoroughly explained the pricing structure and estimation process. While you acknowledged uncertainty in your inventory and chose to overestimate your box count to account for space requirements, the omission of approximately 100 items significantly impacted the accuracy of the estimate. This company is a joke

This company is a joke. I was charged an additional $250 for a large bulky item. When the movers showed up, they did not have the equipment or man power to move the item so we left it behind. Multiple calls to customers service about adjusting my price and all I got was promises to call me back, which never happened. Then, the company that was delivering the rest of the items notifies me that deliver will be an additional $450 because they put my stuff on a truck that was too big to get into my residence. How many residences can take a 70'truck? This move cost me $700 more than I was quoted and part of it was not even picked up. When my items were delivered, the boxes were wet, many of them are crushed, at least one box was opened and then re taped shut. Very disappointing experience.

Scammers...This company is a scam

Scammers...This company is a scam. I had to call the police to get my things. They get deposits Then contract another company to do the move. That company will charge you thousands in additional hidden fees.

SCAM ARTISTS

SCAM ARTISTS! They tell u a low price then tell u have plenty of room, once they get deposit then they tell u its in the system wrong and the price goes up and up. Then they want u to sign something saying that if the price goes up you pay. They are not BBB accredited and apparently it comes right up online they have a bunch of lawsuits pending.

Worst experience- Heartless and Unresponsive

Do NOT trust this company!!! My client’s immediate family member died unexpectedly changing their moving plans. I have personally reached out to the manager Carl (7 times). They are refusing to reimburse this couples deposit or respond to calls or emails! When my client and their family reached out they offered a $500 refund - they paid $2300 to move across country.
We understand contractual agreements but when a family has been hit with such unexpected tragedy you would hope a “moving company” that prides themselves on self as being a stress free relocation company would have the heart to refund their money as they no longer are relocating. And after the heartless reaction and lack of response why would they trust this company if they do make a local move ???

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. I was provided a quote for 63 items moving from Maine to Massachusetts. This was not finalized until I was supposed to receive a quality assurance call.(that was scheduled 4 different times). I was able to break down my inventory in half from 63 to 33 items and was charged another 400 dollars over the phone. Finally when moving day came they showed up loaded my stuff and charged another 400 dollars on top of it. They threatened to add more money on if they had to wait at the drop off location and the only forms of payment they expected is cash or postal money order. They bumped my entire move up to 5 grand when my quote was around three. The customer service was non existent and they are horribly rude once they got you in contract. They used another company to move my items called Express Movers Services who showed up in a budget truck. They blind side you and over charge. They took advantage of our family.

Don't even think about using them

Don't even think about using them. I called just to get a quote (actually they returned my call). They quoted me a price but then continued to give a hard hard sell to me to sign today for a "discount ". When I said cannot commit to anything, and that I am just checking around for estimates, the two people taking care of me, I believe their names were Jason and Daniel, stated "the name fits and hung up on me". I did not yell or get angry, I just told them I don't want a hard sell and I just wanted to get an estimate, and then they hung up. If I could rate them with a zero, I would do so.

This company has had zero communication…

This company has had zero communication with use since they took our belongings. We have called multiple times to find out when our stuff would be delivered. We were initially told it would be picked up on Dec 26 and delivered by Dec 31st. That didn’t happen. The next lie we were told by Carl was that it would be there within 10 days. We lined up someone to meet the movers and we called a couple days before to see what day and time there were coming. We were told that day that it wouldn’t be there on 10 days either. Nothing we have been told is true. They took our belongings from Weat Virginia and we were told they were heading to Florida with it. The truth is that it’s sitting in a warehouse in Illinois with no delivery date in sight. This company is not credible. Read the negative reviews they are all similar. They make you promises they know they can’t keep to get your money and then you are stuck. I would never recommend them.

Brightside Moving Group always strives to provide clarity and transparency in every aspect of the process. We are as a broker, coordinating with moving carriers to perform the actual move. While we strive to maintain clear and consistent communication throughout the process, once a contract is handed over to the assigned carrier, the carrier typically manages the logistical details directly. A load of Household Goods traveling approx 940 miles has a standard delivery window of 1-10 Business days (Maximum 30 business days) starting on the First Available Delivery Date (FADD) which in this case was the 27th of December.
After speaking with the carrier they have told us that they are delivering this week. Delivery windows vary based on many factors. If the items are not in transit or set to leave for transit there is not an actual delivery eta and providing you with an answer would only be a disservice. It is paramount that all those who represent Brightside Moving relay information in a clear and concise way. If there was any miscommunication about the delivery windows I apologize.

Helping my dad move into a smaller home was tough emotionally, but this company was there to support us every step of the way. They worked with patience and made sure my Dad felt comfortable during the entire process.

Yikes!

Please look at other companies first! If you are absolutely set on using this company (which I wouldn't recommend), please read the contract thoroughly and note any and all charges, moving dates, packing box sizes, etc. The contract is written to protect the company, not the customer at all.

Where to start.... I guess as other people have mentioned, this company is more of a broker than anything else. They take an initial deposit upfront and then it is almost impossible to reach them. Because I wasn't aware of the moving box sizes beforehand during the quote (which they didn't explain), I had to upsize my move a few days before pickup, which was still small, but it pretty much doubled my costs. I had to call multiple times for any updates, and then they never followed up for pickup or delivery. I had to contact the company they contracted out to directly. It seems like the company thrives off of confusing customers.

Since I was moving cross country, I was clear during the initial quote (and every call after) on when I expected my items to be delivered. I was told it would be delivered on the first day of my pickup window.... but then didn't arrive. I kept calling customer service on the expected delivery day and couldn't get through to anyone. The next day, when I was finally able to get in touch with someone, they explained that a junior staff person must have been mistaken when they told me the delivery day, and it would actually take 2-12 business days to get my things delivered (the contract covers them for 30 business days), since it's put onto a truck with a million other people's things. It ended up being delivered 1.5 weeks after the initial delivery date, so I was living in a sleeping bag for that period of time.

The contract also leaves room for them to charge additional fees, such as elevator, stairs, shuttle service minimum of $500 (which is where they move your stuff onto a smaller truck if an 18 wheeler doesn't fit in your parking lot upon delivery), long carry service, etc. Moral of the story is please please PLEASE read your contract thoroughly, and don't feel pressured to sign a contract over the phone before combing through it. I paid so much more because of that and did not feel taken care of at all. At least I have my stuff now...

Not to say all estimates are the same but you will see that they are similar with other companies in the industry who operate legally and above board. We want our customers to have a clear outline of how the price is formulated, and if there is a need for additional services then we don’t want there to be any smoke and mirrors. There is list of the DOT expected delivery windows included on the estimate, and on both the estimate and the bill of lading that you signed is our information where we clearly state that we are a broker. We coordinate moves with the carriers in the field. We apologize if there were any extra costs that occurred as we do our best to review each move on the initial call for booking and our Quality Assurance Dept reaches out again to see if there are any additional changes before pick up. I wish we had a proper response for the communication troubles you had. Unfortunately we do not have missed calls or emails from you. Brightside maintains a Customer Service Dept that is open 6 days a week and is dedicated to helping customers with any questions or concerns throughout their move. Our contact information is on our paperwork, website, and every customer is introduced to customer service when the move is set up. Again we are terribly sorry to hear for the frustrations you have experienced.

I’m beyond livid using this company for…

I’m beyond livid using this company for my family’s first big move across the country. Brandon helped me out in the beginning and gave me what sounded like a great quote. Then Mitch called and raised the price all because I missed small things. Then the 3rd party moving company they chose(can’t remember the name) showed up and raised the price $6k more from looking at the “weight.” Didn’t make any sense to me. So now this entire move has been several thousand dollars out of our own pocket!! It’s not been 3 weeks since we have parted with our entire life and I’ve been told by this moving truck company 2 different times 5-7 days. Then the following week 3-5 days. Originally was supposed to have the delivery before Christmas.
