HORRIBLE DO NOT BOOK WITH WIMDU
I had an awful experience with wimdu.I've booked an apartment in Amsterdam. First of all,the host was not there on my arrival.I had to stress to find the keys to enter the apartment that were hidden in the garden.Once I finally entered the apartment,one of the neighbor told me that the host was renting illegally and he would have called the police.It was humiliating. The apartment itself was nice but very unclean. Bedroom sheets never changed or washed.Now that I wish to complaint to someone,there's nobody to contact.They only want your money,no customer service,no care about guests. Don't trust this company,don't book with wimdu is my recomendation.Horrible and extra poor service.
Disgraceful company
Do not book with this company, if you have any problems you will be left to try and resolve them yourself. They provide no after care or assistance, ignore your emails, there is no contact number and no means to claim against owners if you have problems like we did. They're happy to take their 15% commission, but they do not care about you once they have it.

Nowadays is completely a disaster
They don´t have a telephone to contact to. Even they don´t replay you on Wimdu. They haven´t payed me me last reservation. Completely dissapointing.
Clearly a very good service with very good customer service too.
Wimdu.de advertised on TV one night and I realised there was a potential alternative to Air B&B.
I found the website easier to navigate and made three bookings in Stockholm with clear and full information about the cancellation procedures and costs. Then when I did cancel and I did have a few questions, I was got in touch with Customer service team who replied with in the day or at a maximum of 48 hours to support my enquiry and reassure me about things relating to finer detail.
I found this to be great service and had an excellent time in Stockholm too.

Scam merchants
These people have tried to take a commision for a booking for our B&B and we have never heardof them before and are fully booked for the period concerned. Their subsequent e.mail to us says they will take 11 euros commision from the booking but if we do not accept within 4 hours a negative point will be put against our profile - which they have stolen from our website.
Basically these people are muggers!
When we complained, Wimdu told us we had asked them to represent us in 2011, but they will take down our profile in 2 days. 5 days later our B&B is still shown on their website. If, as they say, we registered with them iin 2011, it means 4 years have gone by with no bookings. If, as we maintain, we've never been in contact with them before last week, they have stolen our details and tried to blackmail us into honouring a booking they took without any knowledge of whether the room was available or not.
Either way, I suggest that nobody books with them as you will be risking your money needlessly.
great website...easy to use
Easy to navigate website - well designed. Found a great property to rent in Barcelona. Would recommend ensuring availability dates are updated regularly as many were out of date.

Terrible service
Beware of using Wimdu. Despite having booked some two months ago and paid for our accomodation in full, our host cancelled our booking (having double booked with someone else!) three days before we arrived in Budapest in peak season. Wimdus' customer service number didn't answer several times and I had to leave messages and emails. When I finally got on to them they said they would sort everything out for us but eventually came back to us to say they could not do anything for us and recommended that we look on Booking.com. This caused unnecessary distress and worry for our family. I now await my refund and will be very interested to see how long it takes them to organise this.
No compassion, what is their fee even for?
Whilst at the airport ready for our holiday we got a phone call to say our accommodation wasn't available! They said they would find something suitable for us by the time we had got to Portugal. So not a great start!
I came off the flight to an email with 3 hotels for different parts of the trip (who wants to change hotel every day while away and we didn't want a hotel we had booked an apartment for self catering!) regardless by the time I got off my flight those options were booked anyway. I had assumed that they were taking care of all bookings as they had our money. To make clear I am disgusted at this level of service they 'provide'
How were we to book a hotel when it will take 5 days to get our money back? To make clear we also had a 6 year old with us which is what makes me so upset at the lack of compassion and help they provided to us
We are a family now stranded in Portugal. It is a joke. All because the 'host' messed up our original booking. I have to hope they will be removing him from the site.
This 'company' charge a 'fee' yet don't actually do any work... How utterly disappointing this entire thing has been.
So we now have nowhere to stay... No money to book somewhere else and even if we did book a hotel we expected self catering so this will be 3 times the expense. They won't do anything to help reimburse. NEVER use this company your holiday will be ruined
a poor excuse for a company
I recently rented a property through them. I had a serious problem with the apartment I rented as basic services like internet and A/C were not wokring properly. I asked for a partial refund and after weeks still no response form wimdu.
I had a similar situation nce with Air B and B and they resolved it for me within a week.

Not a trustworthy Company
My husband and I rented an apartment in Barcelona ( a risky place to go at the moment. Beautiful and everything but not sure if it's worth it.) We were got there and went to get a snack and were out for one hour and the apartment got broken into. A lot of our things were stolen, ranging from a laptop to a camera, to our passports. The owners of the place were very surprised and were very helpful getting us help from the police and showed us where to get our emergency passports. They felt that the company, Wimdu, would be able to cover some of the loss with the company insurance. We weren't expecting much but it's been over a month since we've heard back from the girls about anything. All I want is a yes or a no on weather they could cover anything with the insurance.
I don't blame our hosts as much as Wimdu, who should be able to have something to help cover their customers. They have been unresponsive and dismissive, we had a much better time using airbnb.
Never successful...
I tried to book apartments through wimdu few times and all the time unsuccessfully only because they provide one price,and in reality its different.
I just made booking,wait 24h for confirmation,while waiting maybe loosing chance to book something better or at least where price is correct,and after they send you message with apologies that sorry it was declined because price was not updated for the dates you've choose
So i would say they should do it properly,with updates everyday or not do it at all...

After having the guests from hell. I still have not been paid due to complaints policy one member of staff was very rude to me despite me going though trauma because of their guests. I am coming off. airbnb is a much more reliable and professional service. DON'T BOOK WITH WIMDU , hosts are not supported. I will have to wait while they decide to pay me for guests that I almost had to call the police about. Rude old guys, south African bankers, storming in to my bedroom, eatin all our food, being VERY rude. They are still investigating?
FRAUD - LOST ALL OUR MONEY - NEVER AGAIN!
HACKER/FRAUD On WIMDU -Management knows - but does nothing, and run away from taking responsability.
We booked through Agent house on Mallorca, which we found on Wimdu HomePage. The person/house was FRAUD, and we lost a lot of money (2 families). Wimdu removed house and agent immediately, but dont want to refund us the money. Look further back on Trustpilot -exactly same thing happend to other families earlier in 2015. Poor management that knows they have a leak in there system, but keep on selling, and does not take responsability for there product. Be carefull, and even better: BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Value for money
I had a very good experience with Wimdu! I found it extremely easy to book the apartment in Prague (booked from Saturday to Friday). The apartment was literally 200 yards or so from the new metro station at Nadrazi Velesalvin, which is the destination of the 119 bus from the airport. (The trams - 20 and 26 - also go from this point into the city.) I had estimated my time of arrival to within half an hour, assuming that my flight landed on time. In the event I was a few minutes earlier, but my host was ready waiting to show me round the apartment, to answer any questions, and to give me the keys. I also had his mobile phone number to use in the event of any problems, though my stay was entirely problem-free! This was my fifth visit to Prague, but my first with Wimdu, and I would certainly consider using them again in the future.
Booking declined but payment promptly returned
We tried to book a property in Setbal peninsula, Portugal, which appeared available on Wimdu site. After paying at time of our enquiry booking was declined as property not available, but payment quickly returned.Would have been better if calendar had been kept up to date.
A great tool to save money
Reading everyones reviews below, i didn't have any problems so i can't comment on that.
I found it easy to find somewhere to stay and the cost was a huge saving from other hotels.
The vendor had described everything well and it was nice and clean plus spacious.
The only reason i didn't give 5 stars was because the outside looked very worse for wear and Google earth didnt show how bad it looked. The upside was everything inside was great!

I was charged twice in a span of 5 hours. The owner refused my request but they proceeded to charge me another time. I have emailed them but they have not gotten back to me. Very disappointed and scared that I have been scammed.
NO support when things go wrong
My friends and I stayed in an apartment in Barcelona, that we had booked through wimdu for one week, and had paid in advance. The apartment was in a great location (near Juame 1 metro) and was very nice. However on the forth night while we were out, we were called and informed that the plumbing broke and water was leaking into the downstairs apartment. We returned to the apartment to find the water had been switched off and there were plumbers working who had been let in. The water remained off that night (no toilet, shower, sink etc). The woman who rented us the apartment (Angela) apparently lived in Italy. She texted us and said it would be fixed by the next day. The next day however, after a few hours of plumbers coming in and out, it was not fixed and we were told the we would have to vacate the apartment as there was no water. The apartment owner refused to speak to us on the phone despite several attempts at calling. instead she texted us to tell us she had booked us a hostel. We did not want to stay in a hostel and told her that she should please find us another apartment. She refused. At this point we called Wimdu "customer support". After waiting for a long time for them to call back, they said there was nothing they could, despite our accommodation being uninhabitable and the landlady very unreasonable. They said that they can only refund or help within 24 hours of check-in! Meanwhile, after multiple texts (the owner would still not answer the phone, only text) the owner admitted to us that she did not have insurance for the apartment, which is completely illegal in Barcelona. Wimdu obviously does not check that all of their users are legal/insured. We also found out from the neighbour, that this is not the first time this has happened. The owner has a recurring problem with the plumbing and continues to rent the apartment, despite people having to move out half way through their stay. We were also told that the owner always refuses to find suitable alternative accommodation for her customers. We ended up having to stay in an absolutely disgusting hostel (and paid a lot of money to get there via taxi), two of us slept in a double bed and one on a piece of foam mattress on the floor. The apartment owner had not even paid for the hostel and when we arrived we had to try and contact her to ask pay for the room! She eventually paid, but not the full amount. We had to pay towards the cost of the hostel. She refused to answer us when we asked her to refund the cost of the remaining nights not spent in the apartment.
I am so disappointed with Wimdu. Firstly, for allowing such a person to rent via their site - despite having no insurance and also having a terrible history of scamming! And secondly, for giving us absolutely NO support during this entire unfair and distressing ordeal. I will definitly be reporting Wimdu, and this apartment owner, to the tourism authorities in Barcelona.
I would NOT recommend Wimdu to anyone! It is not a secure service and and provides very little to no customer support.
Berlin Unique Room Balcony in Prime Area "ONLY WOMAN"
I booked that studio in Berlin 1 and 1/2 months ago, last thursday the host wrote me asking me to cancel the booking as she wants to cancel and she doesn't want to pay the cancellation fees, as it is specify on the Wimdu website I sent an email to support letting them know the problem and I sent another email to my host telling her that I had contacted Wimdu and that I won't cancel the booking and if she wanted she needed to do it. So far I didn't hear from any of them I am travelling in 4 days to Berlin and I don't know if I have a place to stay in, almost all hotels are full and the remains are really expensive. I think the behavious or both Wimdu and the host are unacceptable. It is my first booking with them and it will be the last!!!
