We visited wimpy in Ashford Kent for lunch.
We ordered 3 things which they didn't have. After coming back each time to change the order. Also they didn't have the tea my husband wanted so he had to choose another. Also I ordered ice cream then after 10mins they said the ice cream machine wasn't working. My husband ordered cheesecake and it was frozen so we asked for a box to put it in so he can eat it at home. . So over all we were disappointed with the wait .astonished that they didn't know what was on the menu.

Hidden extra costs

We visited the Eastbourne Wimpy on Saturday with our granddaughter. Not been to a Wimpy for years. The meal was faultless. When the bill arrived we felt “ripped off”. £46.21 for 3 meals + 2fo1 desserts. What looked like a ‘burger meal deal’ as shown in the menu when ordering the chips and soft drink to go with our burgers is actually an extra charge of £6.55 on each meal.
On looking closely at the menu with staff after the meal and having had the issue explained to us by the apologetic staff we could see the small + sign on the menu.
The manager apologised profusely for the misleading menu as other customers had also fallen foul of this ‘hidden’ cost and complained to him.
When ordering a ‘meal deal’, for instance in McDonalds, the deal price includes the fries and drinks and is clearly stated….unlike here at Wimpy.
We will not be returning!

Wimpy Addelstone is absolutely amazing

Wimpy Addelstone is absolutely amazing

The staff were friendly, fast and efficient. They made a point of welcoming every customer as they came in and thanking them for dining when they left. It's the first time I have eaten there and I was treated exactly the same as one of the regulars (a lot of the customers appeared to be regulars)

The burgers were proper old school 70s style, maybe not as trendy as modern smash burgers but everything tasted fresh. The chips were crisp and cooked to order.

Even though the restaurant was busy, the place was spotless. It's been a long time since I've been in such clean toilers.

Visited Wimpy in Barnstaple for the…

Visited Wimpy in Barnstaple for the first time yesterday and I was really disappointed! My little girl wanted a burger, and I thought this place was a great idea when I knew she wouldn't finish all her food.

We came in and were greeted with a friendly smile which i thought was lovely and welcoming. Receieved our menus and i was so pleased to see the kids one came with drawing activities. The kids meal deal for £4.95 seemed good value as they got two sides and a drink with their main meal. I ordered myself a coffee which costs £2.90.

I ordered a kids chicken burge as my little girl doesnt like beef burgers. The waitress asked which sides we wanted and we went with chips and peas. At no point during the order did the waitress correct me and say they don't do kids' chicken burgers!

When the waitress brought out the meal it was a beef burger! I politely said I'm sorry I ordered a chicken burger. The girl looked bemused so I looked over at my little girl and said would you like to try this one and she said she really wanted a chicken burger. Again no correction from the waitress that they dont do kids chicken burgers. The food was taken away and I heard her say to the chef, "she ordered the kids chicken burger and not beef". So it appeared the waitress wasnt aware either that they don't do kids chicken burgers!

A few min later I have two waitresses at my table telling me that they don't do kids chicken burgers. I then had another look at the kids menu and it was only chicken strips and not chicken burger. I then apologised and said I'm sorry I didn't realise. The other girl, not my original waitress said, would you like the strips to come with a bun and I said yes please if that's okay and they both said yes. Neither of them mentioned that the bun would be an additional £1.50!!

The food arrived (2 chicken strips with chips and a dry bun on the side) No peas, like I originally ordered, but I didn't make a fuss as I thought the burger was replacing the peas. My little girl barely touched her fries and I hand fed her the burger with copious amount of sauce to make it easy to swallow. I felt uncomfortable raising further concerns due to how awkward I was left feeling having two waitresses towering over my table earlier telling me my order was wro

My little girl wanted ice-cream after, but the one she saw on the picture had a flake. The waiter came over and I asked if the kids one came with the flake, but he wasn't sure. He queried it with one of his colleagues and she came over and politely said it doesn't, but can at additional cost. I asked how much and 55p is what she quoted. I accpeted as I thought this was worth putting a smile on my girls face.

When I went to pay I couldn't believe the bill was £13.40! I had a quick glance at the breakdown on the till. I noticed the £1.50 for the bun, but then noticed a kids £1.75 discount and thought maybe that was an error. I then paid £14.75, which included a 10% tip especially when I thought they had been really accomodating for my little girl when she only wanted a chicken burger. I didn't take a copy of the receipt as I normally dont do with food these days.

When I sat back down to wait for my daughter to finish her ice-cream, I did my own calculation. I calculated that meal should of came to £10.85! I went over and the lady at the till wasnt able to retrieve a copy of the receipt. I asked her if it had anything to do with the bun as I noticed a £1.50 charge, but also a discounted correction of £1.75? The lady said that seems too high for just a bun so probably an error.

One of the other waitresses came over to assist and confirmed it was an aditional £1.50 for the bun so i said that I didnt get my side I ordered so thought the bun replace it. They then asked did i order fries and i said yes, so they said thats because you got double chips! So they took it upon themselves to give me double fries??

When the girls came over to tell me there is no chicken burger for kids they didnt ask what sides i wanted so i assumed im getting the ones from my origional order. Also, no way was that a double portion of chips. I could pick up those fries up in one hand!

Nevertheless, they agreed the bill didnt coincide with what we had so they did their own calculation and came to a value of £11.90 instead if £13.40 and gave me the difference in cash. I still don't understand how they came to their calculation. As there were people waiting I didnt argue further and my little girl was too tired and we were running out of time to collect my little boy.

I walked out there feeling disatisfied with the service and food and never wanting to return. Not at all impressed for a first time customer!

Can believe there are not more of these about!

Visited the Wimpy in Felixstowe and have been going to Wimpy for the past 43 years. I’m happy to say that nothing has changed, the sauce is the best and the burgers are as good now as they were back then. Polite staff, food cooked fresh and tasted lovely…so much better than the tasteless McDonalds and Burger King…please keep going Wimpy

TINY PORTIONS, TERRIBLE VALUE.

Been going to Wimpy for about 45 years, but I won't be going there again. The two things I usually ate, fish-in-a-bun and burger with brown bun are gone from the menu. So I ordered sausage, hash browns, and beans. My heart fell when I saw all that empty space on the plate. One small sausage, one wafer thin (1/4") hash brown, and a spoonful of beans in a little pot. Just enough to feed a 5 year old, a 10 year old would have room for more. After the "meal" I left still hungry and had to go to Greggs to top up. I can't believe Wimpy would think I'd be impressed with this infant-size portion.

Avoid Lowestoft Whimpy!..

We went in September 2025 to Lowestoft Whimpy and we really wished we didn't!.. It was 3 of us going celebrating my daughter getting to college. Firstly we were asked for our drinks order, but they had no fizzy at all and all we wanted was cokes! So we just ordered anyway, we had 2 burgers with loaded fries and a big breakfast, the burgers were in a puddle if the grease which made me feel sick! The breakfast had the cheapest bacon ever on the plate and the eggs were supposed to be free range but they definitely weren't as they were so light yellow and absolutely tasteless!.. Anyway got to dessert, my daughter wanted the churro one, but again the waitress said sorry no churros but they had enough to do a churro sundae so she went for that. I wanted the brownie sundae and it was really nice but when the churro sundae came I immediately saw the pale looking churros, I tasted it and they were raw and heated in the microwave!.. By this time I was fuming but just wanted to leave as I felt so sick!.. The bill came to £53 and I've never felt so disappointed spend it that amount of money on a disgusting meal!.. We don't go out often, especially now everything is so expensive now but to go out and have an experience like that it was really heartbreaking!.. If you like a decent fresh cooked meal DO NOT GO HERE!.. Avoid at all costs.. Awful atmosphere too all young servers hanging around and even a staff member coming in with lettuces, etc from the local store it's not great at all..

Won't be the same again

I used to be a regular at the Ashford Wimpy in Kent, where the staff were always friendly and welcoming. It was a favourite spot for my mother and me, and we always appreciated seeing the same familiar, friendly faces. When I heard it had temporarily closed, I was disappointed. Having not been to the town centre since its reopening, we decided to visit and see how things had changed.

The first thing we noticed was the reduction in seating. Several four-seater tables had been replaced with two-seaters, which has significantly reduced the overall capacity. I’m unsure whether this was done to create more floor space or to make the restaurant appear busier, but it definitely accommodates fewer customers now.

I ordered my usual classic Wimpy quarter-pounder meal with fries and a milkshake, along with the sauces I always requested — Wimpy’s special sauce, BBQ sauce, and firecracker sauce. The previous staff knew this combination so well that they often had it ready for me even when I'd forgotton to ask while ordering. Unfortunately, milkshakes were unavailable that day, so I opted for a different drink instead.

When the food arrived, we weren’t provided with utensils or paper napkins. Although a burger doesn’t typically require cutlery, it had always been the practice to place them on the table with each order. The beef patty in the burger was overcooked and very dry, and the sauces were incorrect. Instead of the requested variety, I was given only Wimpy’s special sauce and tomato ketchup. When I politely raised this, the staff member returned with a large bottle of ketchup, which amused a nearby family. After clarifying again that I hadn’t ordered ketchup, the bottle was taken away and replaced with a small pot of yellow habanero sauce. This sauce was thinner and less flavourful than the firecracker sauce it appears to have replaced. Unfortunately, the BBQ sauce never arrived.

It also seemed that the restaurant was somewhat understaffed, perhaps due to it being a Bank Holiday. Staff were frequently interrupted to deal with other tasks, which meant some tables remained uncleared for an extended period. In fact, when another family arrived and wanted to sit down, they ended up clearing a table themselves, which still had dirty plates that had been left there for at least 15–20 minutes before they arrived. They were also provided with a cup of colouring pencils for their child, but I overheard them noting that most of the pencil tips were either snapped or worn down. It was a small detail, but one that made the place feel a little neglected, as if such things aren’t being checked before being given to customers.

Overall, the experience was disappointing and didn’t live up to what we had enjoyed in the past. It was disheartening to find that the old staff were no longer there, and sadly, I don’t think we’ll be returning in the near future.

Delicious meal to mark the start of the summer holidays. Took my family to Wimpy in Bourne End and it was great value for what we had. The veggie options are excellent and dessert is also great. We decided that we will come back regularly. Definitely would recommend.

Gave me chicken instead of plant based food

I ordered a take away from Wimpy Littlehampton on 2nd May 2025. They have a new menu, where i would usually get the southern fried Quorn burger, this has been removed so i tried the new “plant based strips”. On consuming 2 of these it then became apparent i was in fact eating chicken. Fuming doesn’t even cut it. I was immediately violently sick having not eaten meat for 35 years and having food forced on me i never would have purchased or chose to eat. The manager was apologetic but obviously just wanted to get me off the phone having not followed up with calling me back as promised. Terrible customer service. In a world where allergies and food intolerances are at a high and restaurants ensure the safety of their customers, wimpy missed the memo. I am absolutely disgusted with my once “favourite takeaway” and vow to never eat there again and make sure anyone i know, knows exactly what Littlehampton wimpy are. Incompetent! If you are veggie/vegan/gluten free/allergic, you CANNOT trust these people with your food. They could not care less! Maybe it will take for someone to die for them to start making sure food safety is a priority within this “restaurant”. I HAD been a customer, ordering every 2-3 weeks for over 30 years. I wouldn't even buy a water from them now as i cannot trust what is actually in it.

Food poisoning

Ate their last night . Started to feel sick not long after eating . By the time I got home I felt so ill . Spent most of the night in the toilet. The guy cooking the food was completely drunk . He was falling over and being abusive to the waitress,s , who were lovely by the way.
I don’t know how they work there.!!!!
If you don’t want food poisoning, give this Wimpy in Eltham high street a wide berth!!!!!!

Yesterday, I went into the Wimpy store in basingstoke to get some small chips the lady said £3.60 please and I said that can’t be right not for more checks on his own she said yes it is. I said you got a price long now she said that is £3.60 for small chips on its own I will never be returning there again. I did not buy it. I just walked out the store and that’s wide. You don’t see customers in the store because so high price and expensive.
