SHAM: Bought phone from BackMarket that was provided by WisePhone ER
Last summer, I purchased a "refurbished" iPhone SE 2020 from Back Market. Within a week, I received a phone from "WisePhone ER," which apparently is a subcontractor. The phone worked well until I cracked the screen in a situation that should not have cracked it (numerous other phones of several brands have endured much worse at my hand...). Realizing this would not be covered by any warranty, I performed the replacement myself. Upon opening the phone, I found the case-to-screen seal missing, and four screws were missing from the internal board. One of the screw holes was stripped. The case-to-screen seal is an integral part of providing support and strength to the screen, which explains why it cracked so easily. Communication with WisePhone ER and Back Market was useless. As a note, there is no way to communicate directly with Back Market about an issue. Any and all communication regarding the purchase is directed through the actual seller (in this case, WisePhone ER). Both WisePhone ER and Back Market failed to acknowledge the problem with the phone not being properly "refurbished" to manufacturer's standards, the definition of which, I guess, can vary wildly. WisePhone ER stated that, since the phone was repaired/opened by someone else, they had no liability (despite the fraudulent refurbishment???). Interestingly enough, I continued to receive emails from Back Market requesting that I tell them how great my purchasing experience was....
I replaced the screen myself and filed a BBB complaint against Back Market. To their credit, they responded quickly with an offer to honor the warranty and return the phone for a refund towards another Back Market device. They also wanted to know how the screen cracked and requested photos of the the broken screen. Thinking this was a good sign, I accepted the seller proposal, with modifications, and closed the BBB case. Silly me.
In follow-on communication (which is not easy due to their system that insulates Back Market from the transaction), I requested only that I be sent a replacement screen. However, Back Market responded that they would not honor the warranty, and I was offered a $30 discount on my next device. Yeah, fat chance. I could re-contact the BBB, but I will have more fun telling others about the shoddy Back Market product I received.
If the screen didn't crack, I probably would've never known that I got (un-)screwed (unless the missing screws created a future heat sink issue resulting in damage/overheat). The bottom line is...pay your money...take your chances.
If you've read this far, please realize that THE ONLY ENTITY THAT CAN RELIABLY REFURBISH A PHONE TO MANUFACTURERS' STANDARDS IS THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER (and definitely not some sweat shop in Brooklyn).
Great customer service
Customer service was a 5 star rating

Excellent customer service…
I purchased a phone for my wife and after 6 months it stopped working. I contacted Wisephone ER and was treated professionally. They had me return the old phone, providing me the return label while sending me another phone. They are aces in my book and would do business with them again.
Is "good condition" good condition?
I don't really know,I wanna buy a phone that is in good condition but it says it may have scratches on the screen and very good condition is a good deal but i can only get my favorite color in good condition. Do you guys really mean it when you say the phone is in good condition or will there actually be scratches
Prices are low for a reason !!!
****BEWAREEE***Bought this phone under the impression that the only issue was the fact that the home button Touch ID didn’t work. Shortly after I got home I noticed the home button was jammed...I was too busy to return that day and wasn’t near the business so I postponed for when I had time to get it looked at.A day later, I went to double press the home button with my thumb and it cracked.I was so irritated cause now there’s two issues I had to deal with. I went in the store and the guy fixed my button “because it was cracked” and said he was doing me a favor when in reality he wasn’t bc he was going to have to do it regardless(I could deal with a functioning cracked home button !!!!not one that doesn’t work at all!). He fixed it after waiting two hours and wasting gas.well at least that’s what I thought.I go to screenshot a photo and suddenly it goes jammed AGAIN!!i try turning the phone on and off and nope not working. He offers me a full refund then takes it back after hollering in the phone and me suggesting he’d just pay me partial money for the INCONVENIENCE he caused.I don’t foresee this store lasting very long.He doesn’t have the customer service or problem solving skills needed to run a business.People pay big bucks on phones. These aren’t real iPhone parts nor are they real headphones! Apple verified! If I had the energy to sue i would, but it’ll come bite him on his behind one day!
