Written by the company

Women's Consortium Working towards strengthening valuable lives Women’s Consortium offers free training, therapy, and other activities that promote wellbeing, foster balanced mental health, and enable people to reach their goals through advice and counsel. Women’s Consortium believes everyone is valuable and aims to encourage every individual to maximise on all their personal strengths and build on their potentials. Our mission is to promote wellbeing of everyone and provide accessible opportunities for all people to enter society without judgment and bias. The vision is to create opportunities in the community for people to access a range of services to create a restored lifestyle. Recognizing a lack of facilities fully focused on addressing the needs of women, Women’s Consortium began by providing services for women only and then expanded to provide services for all people. As many women feel safer and more comfortable in women exclusive environments, WC continues to some offer services and program for women only. We offer an array of services from therapy, both clinical and alternative, to fitness classes, and a variety of workshops. Our fundamental aim is to enable people to reach their goals and empower people to realise their self-worth. The workshops have been so successful that local business and later larger organisations have requested that similar training be offered for their staff fulfilment. This created the opportunity to expand our services by providing bespoke training to organisations upon request. Women’s Consortium seeks to support everyone to go from where they are to where they want to be in life. As the motto says, we want to strengthen valuable lives. A variety of trainings are offered to businesses at a competitive rate. We offer a range workshops from soft skills such as confidence building and public speaking, to social workshops including Equality and Diversity, and more practical workshops like Business start-up. Whatever your company is looking for, we can help.

Robust guidance made a real difference.

The counsellor was very patient, listened and clarified and challenged me with their feedback and perspective on my situation. That directness was a huge help in me taking ownership and moving forwards positively.

Interpersonal psychotherapy

I had interpersonal psychotherapy with mariyam, it was the best type of therapy I received. I had different types of therapy before but this one worked the best with me. It helped me find healthy coping mechanisms

Helped me understand

I had Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) with Mariyam Saeed. The sessions were professional and with somebody who will really listened. In the past I had tried counselling several times and had began to lose hope. I thought that I wouldn't get anywhere with my built up trauma until I tried IPT. Each session I would set simple achievable goals, that would remind me that I was able to do it. Small, simple steps. Knowing that there is a way around big tasks. This helps me in my day to day life and without getting overwhelmed. Mariyam helped me a lot and I will always be thankful.

Counselling sessions

Out of desperation I turned to counselling and I am so glad that I did. Mariyam led the sessions in a professional and polite manner. She made me feel comfortable and ensured that I was always in a safe space. I had been out of work for almost a year and can proudly say that after having these sessions, I have now returned to work. Mariyam picked me up when I had lost all hope. She showed me the purpose of living. I was never rushed in my sessions, they always had a steady pace and I felt like I was always being listened to. I’ve cried, I’ve had anxiety attacks and now I can say that these symptoms of depression have eased thanks to the sessions. It was a gradual process which I totally appreciate, as if it were to have been done at a faster pace I don’t feel that I would’ve achieved the same positive results. I would encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out as you’ve got nothing to lose, you really just need to try it out for yourself. I am forever grateful to Mariyam, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

JUST TRY IT!!

I was having counselling with Mariyam Saeed and she was absolutely amazing. She listened and took in what I was saying and helped me so much. I always thought that at counselling they would just tell you what you want to hear but noooo, I heard what I NEEDED to hear and even though it was hard to hear sometimes it really helped me! They share some coping mechanisms and strategies to help in day to day life so overall I had a really good experience!

I made a referral for counselling

I made a referral for counselling, as I was suffering with deep depression. I felt very lost and isolated. After speaking with Mariyam. It soon became clear, that a lot of what I was experiencing was due to me self-sabotaging and ruminating over past traumas. Mariyam supported me throughout my sessions, providing guidance and small activities, as-well self help books. That would help me reinforce my boundaries and become more confident within my skin. I am happy to say, that I am socialising more, have got back into employment and will be studying my nursing degree, come September. Thank you so much Mariyam.

Great support and encourage.

I was in a deep depression before attending the set of meetings with Mariyam. I felt with her very comfortable. She helped me to resolve my main problem. It was such a relief to gain the confidence that my decision was right. She is a great councellor, very understanding and full of compassion.
