Workfront WORKS!

We have been using Workfront (WF) for almost a year now. The transition from our previous platform was intense (3 months), but we were guided along the way by a great implementation staff.

Once we launched, our client base (all internal staff here and abroad), have let us know how much they love the platform. It has made project intake, approval review and communication so much easier for them (and us).

WF support has generally been very responsive (with a few hiccups--delays in response). Overall, it has been very satisfactory with support issues being resolved.

WF sends updates and announcements frequently this has been very helpful in anticipating potential new features or issues as they are constantly improving the software. They have had some updates lately that seem to "break" a few items, but they generally smooth out.

The learning and training modules offered by WF are very good, easy to use and in relatively short durations. As an admin, I can assign different people lessons that I feel will benefit them and track their progress.

One thing I would request is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," approach. One of the BETA features almost no one I know cares for the look (it's a very big change from the My Work format). WF does have an IDEA site where users can post new feature requests or comment on things that do and don't work. It appears they do listen, which is heartening.

Overall, I am pleased with the platform and the results we are getting. We're only using the tip of the iceberg in relation to all the capabilities offered. Going into our second year, I look forward to learning more.

Master Your Work

Workfront has greatly improved our Creative process and provided a single "operational system of record" for our team. It's reporting functionality has also allowed us to show the value we provide through hard data and easy to understand dashboards and charts.

It has truly enabled us to "master our work".

Workfront has been an excellent vendor…

Workfront has been an excellent vendor and partner for us. We were a small company (now mid-sized) when we implemented and we have been able to scale Workfront concurrently. The product team is responsive and any issues we have had have reported have been fixed in subsequent releases. Workfront truly listens to its user community and is always improving their offering.

Invaluable tool with a few warts

I have been a daily, nearly constant user of Workfront for a year and a half. As a project manager, I have found it to be an invaluable tool. I like that it is a web app so that it is easy to share with my team - no apps to download or install. For team members who just need to see and track their tasks, it is easy to learn, yet it has the rich functionality that I need to build sophisticated project schedules with complex work breakdown structures and dependencies. Some of my team members are vendors outside of my company, and yet they can participate as full partners in my Workfront projects. The reporting engine is powerful and flexible. And once I learned how to use the built-in coding language to manipulate filters, views, and groups, I've been able to create just about any kind of report I need.

While I like the product, it is not perfect. It is, after all, a browser app, which means that the UI is a little clunky and not as smooth to the touch as a native desktop app. For example, it has a drag-n-drop feature to move tasks around, but you really have to finesse the mouse to get the task to land where you want it. The way it calculates the "Condition" of a project can be obtuse. I have spent hours combing through every task in a project to try to find the one thing out of place that is causing the project to be "At Risk" when I know perfectly well it is "On Target". I am often frustrated by the lack of an "undo" when I make a mistake. For example, I wanted to delete a single task but accidentally deleted an entire section of a project. When I realized my mistake, I had no way to recover the data, nor does Workfront version the project so that I could go back to an earlier version. Luckily one of my team members had exported the project into a spreadsheet just the day before, and I was able to use his spreadsheet to re-enter the lost data. I would also love a mass edit (find-and-replace) feature.

Despite these deficiencies, Workfront beats any other tool I have tried to use for managing projects and collaborating with my project teams.

Transparent, flexible, yet structured!

Workfront has helped our marketing department become more transparent in the amount of work we fulfill, as well as the status of individual projects at any given moment. The flexibility of the templates allows us to be fluid, yet structured in the development of each request -- HUGE pro in Marketing! With every software platform, there is always room for improvement. Workfront's Community allows users to interact with each other and collaborate on functionality that we are craving. I commend Workfront for their willingness to listen to their users and provide an improving system. It would be a hard sell for me to switch to any other system!

Workfront is a lifesaver

Workfront is a lifesaver. Trying to keep on top of 50-70 projects at once can be difficult. Workfront allows you to not only see the progression but also has the capability to allow your clients to view and edit proofs within Workfront. This makes a world of a difference when it comes to making sure all the edits have been made. Thank you Workfront for making my job easier.

Workfront and why it should be the first choice!

Workfront is very flexible tool but that means it is also very complex. From a user perspective the interface is easy to navigate. As an administrator it can be difficult at times to manage the system especially if you have varied use cases for the tool. We use Workfront as a marketing production intake/review/approval system, a incident/issue management system, a financial system, and a marketing campaign management system to name a few.
What keeps me rating this tool 5 stars - 1) The up-charge for integration with other software our company may use. Other similar products like this in the market now offer that integration as part of the package price [Mavenlink] 2) The product road map. Workfront allows the users to make suggestions for new products or features, however out of the 1000's of ideas submitted only 2% have been added to the road map.
Workfront treats its customers very well and encourages its customers to think out of the box with its vast array of partner vendors.

A valuable tool to help organize the chaos of work. The software has powerful report building, and a lot of flexibility in system setup. Workfront is a strong fit for a wide range of applications. Workfront has 100% changed the way we do daily business and has increased productivity to be valuable productive work, by allowing us to eliminate each employee from using their own spreadsheet to track their daily tasks - Workfront now track everyone's daily tasks. We have completely eliminated duplication of effort. We have streamlined our process. We have increased communication 10 fold if not more. Task dependencies and notifications across departments, across teams and within teams - have completely gotten us away from hallway status and tons of emails. Our process is not repeatable and consistent - thanks to the functionality of Workfront.

Workfront is one of the best Project…

Workfront is one of the best Project Management tools I've used! Why is is it the best? Many reasons - with some simple knowledge just about any user can start to build out their portfolio/projects to quickly wround up all needed users to perform the needed tasks. All while having the tool monitoring the life cycle of the project and keeping all involved uptodate on its status/progress.

The simple abilities needed to create custom reports needed based on the needs of the audience(s).

So many reasons including the Workfront staff and community, its a widely adapted application and with that large user base, its great to virtually meet these users online to learn and share!

A good tool that will take time to master.

We like that it's a common platform for all our projects, and that it's applicable to other areas of the business outside of Marketing & Creative. The setup has a steep learning curve however, and requires a fair amount of knowledge about work flows and project management - we wound up hiring an outside firm to help us with the setup. A self-guided, logic-based tool to create work flows would be a great help to those unfamiliar with process development. We learned a lot about best practices from others at LEAP, which helped a lot. We're still trouble-shooting reports, conditions/status, & timesheet issues, and putting training videos together, and estimate it will take us 9-12 months after launch to feel completely comfortable with the tool.

Top notch customer service

We've been customers for about six months now. I've been really pleased with all the interactions we've had - from deciding on a project management system to implementation and launch. The sales team is super, training team is awesome, our time spent with the implementation consultant was helpful, and I was especially surprised with the level of customer service provided by the monthly check ins with our sponsor contact. He is an amazing liaison - knowledgeable, understanding of our concerns or feelings, and helped put us in touch with the right contacts when necessary. Really impressed with customer service.

Workfront Improves Efficiencies

By adding Workfront as my team's project management tool we were able to see hang ups in our projects which resulted in updating our day-to-day priorities and overall process to shorten our queue time (request to proof) in half. We were also able to pull metrics to prove to the business that we were understaffed for the growing demand.
Not only has Workfront help my team expand but it has also been used to finally see the range/scope of product launches across the entire marketing organization.

Workfront ROI is actually tangible

Workfront ROI is actually tangible! Workfront costs money and "you GET what you PAY for", and not many companies/products have this standard anymore. Whether the ease of use of the application, the timeliness of the Support, or the encounters with Workfront staff, you know you are dealing with a top tier product and organization.

When looking at project/job/work management applications, I believe Workfront is unparalleled. The easy to use interface (whether user or administrator), incredible visuals in reporting, and when your organization is ready - an easy process toward resource management all build the case for this application.
Workfront is the real deal when it comes to assisting with the lion's share of your work. You really should look at this product, cost is of course a consideration - however, the ROI is worth it, it really is.
