Glad Im not paid through them anymore
The agency I worked for used Workwell to process my pay. Initially everything seemed fine, but over time I noticed several issues.
Payments often arrived late on payday, seemingly whenever they were processed rather than at a consistent time (sometimes 8:30am, sometimes 10:30am - find out next payday). The service is also quite costly to use. My main concern, however, was that payslips were rarely provided on time (usually around 7pm AFTER payment had already been received), and when I asked if this could be resolved going forward, my request was refused.
Customer service can be acceptable depending on who you speak to, but overall my experience was disappointing.
Fortunately, my agency no longer uses Workwell and now pays me directly, which means I receive my payslip before payment arrives. Even if my agency had not made this change, I would have preferred to move to any other provider rather than continue using Workwell.

Every time I get paid I have to pay the Umbrella company to get my wage! How absurd that is!
Wasn't great over 9 years
I was with JSA Workwell for 9 years so I know what I'm talking about. My 2* rating breaks down as follows:
Admin, onboarding, customer service 1* (0* if I could)
Contractor accountants 4*
Umbrella service 2*
These are the reasons for the low * -
Admin one star as they carelessly registered my new ltd company with a spelling error in my name (also the co name) - an error that's immortalised in Co House records for all to see, an injustice made worse by the fact my services concern human error mitigation. JSA don't care.
Accountants 4* I had 2 during the life of my co - both were professional and helpful, the reason I stayed.
Umbrella 2* just about tolerable for 5 years, there were errors, ignored emails, stealth charges, rudeness, and some occasionally helpful staff so 2*.
Seriously HOW ON EARTH do Workwell get a 4.7* ave rating - fakes surely!! Take it from a long-timer, they're not THAT good!
Worst company ever
Worst company ever. They are not able to provide the service needed but the worst part is that when they realise they cannot help they just disappear. Sending email or call them is useless.
Incompetence at its finest
Incompetence at its finest. I was paid via this umbrella company for 5 weeks. In that time my pay was late or not paid on 3 our of 5 weeks.
Staff pass you from pillar to post and each staff member gave a different excuse s to why I had not been paid.
I was paid late on Xmas eve and not even paid on 2/1/26. Took me all morning to partially resolve.
They tax mileage expenses as their online portal is not fit for purpose and you can’t record mileage without spending an extended period of time doing so.
All in all the worst umbrella company I have ever used.

I'm not a fan of how long it took me to get paid. I also dislike the format of the webpage.
Just free agent for more money
Basically they just leave you to your free agents, which i had to chase them to set up correctly for CIS contributions.
Everything they offer that is not included with free agent you have to chase, including cancelling them, which they clearly don't want to.
They ended up filing my VAT report late and that was only because i gave them a reminder 5 days before. I am genuinely just going to go for free agent from now on.
