Not only has WorldAnvil been extremely helpful to keep track of everything i make, they have a wonderful team who helped me get my account back when I messed up and almost lost it due to a payment issue. The team was patient, respectful and kept me updated.

On the features side, its one of the few which I’d recommend getting a subscription for. The extra content, editing how your page looks adds a layer to your work.

The new changes are so annoying to work with that it's not fun at all to use this service anymore. Switching back and forth between old and new edit view constantly breaks formatting of the page, which makes it impossible to keep the changes.

I have no idea why there is no option to permanently stay in old view window, but this is a game over for me and I won't be buying another subscription. I'm downloading all my content and moving to google docs as it is way easier to maintain and edit.

It is very sad, because I invested so much time into building my WA, but It is simply impossible to work with the new changes. They are overcomplicated, overwhelming and overall more annoying than useful.

WorldAnvil is a wonderful tool for DMs or really any storycrafter. I've used it for years and it's been an absolute pleasure to watch it grow and expand. It offers an absurdly wide feature-set for writing and planning as well as mapping your world or campaign. It includes really helpful stuff like timelines and compendiums, and allows you to cross-link basically anything within the system for inter-connectivity and quick reference.

I don't believe there's a better tool on the market for something like this, and that's what kept me engaged with it for years.

I do want to also briefly mention customer service, as well. I've got a baby at home and as such money is a bit tighter than previous years. The subscription unfortunately auto-renews with no notification ahead of time (something I really hope they'll eventually fix), but I requested the team to drop my account down to free and they were kind enough to oblige and refund my subscription (on the day it renewed). Really appreciate that from the team as it helped me out from a tight spot.

The worldanvil software is a very good option for your DND games. Iv used it for 1 year now, and it is essential to my game.

The map features alone lets me create interactive worlds for my players explore.

There is so many options so even I, that can't properly write or design, has managed to use it to enrich my game

Don't get the ANNUAL subscription, if you forget you have it after not using the service for a while, they don't warn you of the renewal charge. Doesn't matter if you can't afford it, they charge you anyway and NO REFUNDS. Sadly, they're allowed to get away with it. I think that's poor business values. I even requested the refund THE DAY I was notified of being charged for it and they still said no..

I've used WorldAnvil for worldbuilding for about 4 years now and it has been wonderful. The features are amazing and its great for keeping track of notes, or making official pages for my characters and locations. I had a great experience with Ioanna, one of their support members, and she helped me with my request quickly and was extremely helpful!

I really wanted to like this platform. It has some fantastic features, especially the maps and NPC management, which genuinely impressed me. But the flaws seriously impact its usability, especially for in-person games. Unless everyone at the table sits glued to their phones or tablets, it feels clunky and limiting. For online play, I can definitely see its value, but face-to-face it's fallen flat.

My biggest frustration as a DM is reliability. I've lost track of how many times I've typed out detailed notes, only for an unexpected error to wipe it all out. This isn't just irritating, it's annoying and it's broken my trust. Now I find myself relying on random Word documents as backups because I can't trust the platform to keep my content safe. I originally signed up hoping for an organised, streamlined way to handle my game notes, but unfortunately, it's not delivering.

I think the developers should prioritise fixing these core reliability issues over adding new features. I've already paid upfront for a year, but given my experience, I'm now seriously considering switching to something else. The potential is absolutely there, but it needs to get the basics right first.

I set up a World Anvil account a few years ago to keep track of a world for a DnD campaign I was running. I went all out, with articles on key characters, locations, history, and a bunch of stuff for my players to look at like stats for weapons, spells, magic items, house rules etc. It was a really useful website for that purpose and let me build out a world more complex than if I had been keeping track of it all on paper.

But then a few years ago they changed how many articles you can make on a free account from 100+ to about 42. What this meant is that not only can I not make any new articles, I also can't edit any of my existing articles until I either delete over half of them or shell out for the paid version. They've essentially held all my hard work that I'd been building up for years at ransom.

It was a good service before that but I can't recommend a service that might hold your work hostage at a moments notice.

I was on a promotional offer from World Anvil for 50% off the first year, but I hadn't used the tool for a few months and admittedly spaced on the renewal.

BUT, I have a Visa, and Visa terms quite clearly state companies are required to send a notification to customers if a promotional offer is expiring. I never got ANYTHING from World Anvil at all.

After I reached out requesting they refund my money, World Anvil refused and went into full victim-blaming mode. They started by claiming that I "waived my rights" by using the site (that's not a thing, folks), that I hadn't had a promotional offer but had only "used a coupon," and finally, the CTO & Founder told me it was actually my fault I didn't get notified because I had unsubscribed from their marketing/newsletter/miscellaneous emails, so that is why the emails never reached me.

I ended up doing a chargeback through my card company because of how unreasonable World Anvil was being and got my money back due to World Anvil's failure to follow the Visa Core Rules for merchants.

Just be aware that as a company, they will absolutely lie, cheat, and steal to get money out of you, and will blame their shady practices on you.

World Anvil is a platform I've been using for the past 4 years to keep track of my universe's lore. The templates and pages provided incentivize heavy writing, and inspire ideas with the plethora of options available. In addition to their excellent customer service, it's a platform I'll be sticking with.

Extremely useful tool. Has helped me turn a mass of unorganised scraps of paper into a succinct well structured wiki of my world. There’s even API access to query data programmatically.

World Anvil has made running a Dungeons & Dragons campaign so easy. I rarely subscribe to anything, but the free version was so great, I knew it was worth subscribing to them! I love th calenders and timeliness, the prompts from articles, the community suggestions and voting. The team are helpful woth enquiries, and I could go on for ages, but honestly, I use it every week and it makes World Building easy.

This is a great product with quality, friendly and prompt customer service to back it up. I've been thoroughly enjoying using World Anvil to develop my worlds for TTRPGs and personal projects alike. They are always updating and making improvements based on community feedback. It can have a bit of a learning curve, but there are features that make it easier for newbies. Highly recommend it!

World anvil is a fantastic tool to use, not only is there plenty of support with guides on every single thing you can do in the system, the Help team is also absolutely amazing, this has taken my DMing to the next level and would recommend anyone who wants to take their Campaigns, Homebrew worlds or even Novels to the next level use this Site, not to mention you cant beat the price for the services at your leisure-
