I'm not diamond or ring connoisseur so you will have to take this for what it is - I simply chose the band that looked the prettiest that meant something to us and then chose the lab grown diamond based on it being an Ideal Cut, D colour and then VVS1 clarity. From what I could tell, all the lab grown diamonds are IGI certified which, while far from the best for natural diamonds, are top tier for lab grown. I then basically chose the largest I could that I felt would fit my partner. There are generally several for similar prices with the filter so I then used a diamond cut estimator to find the one most central in the ideal range across multiple certifications to ensure I was really getting the best cut. In order to save money, I sacrificed clarity as I felt that had the lowest value for money when compared to cut, colour and size. The ring itself looks divine and of good quality, as you would expect so I have given 5/5 for quality. I wished I had done some more research for white gold vs platinum as it seems white gold is softer and will lose the rhodium plating in a few years. On the other hand, it seems re-plating isn't too expensive (under £100) so it's not a major downside - just thought I'd mention that. Also I heard that 77D isn't actually the best bang for buck and that there are some other sites such as Blue Nile and James Allen that are bigger and slightly cheaper so I've given 4/5 for VFM but personally I was already happy using the 77D site so did not try the others.
