People frequently encountered issues with claims being denied or delayed, even for seemingly straightforward cases. Reviewers also found the customer service to be unhelpful and difficult to navigate, with interactions sometimes described as lacking empathy. The pricing was a common point of contention, with many feeling it was too high, especially for loyal customers. AVOID!!!!!!

Pricing is ridiculous, processes are pathetic, customer service is terrible. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Complaining does nothing either managers are so incompetent it's an absolute joke! Car repair place that was chosen for my car damaged my car and AAMI would do nothing to help me. My policy was also cancelled incorrectly so I was driving around uninsured for a few days before realising. When I called to complain and rectify, I was told it was cancelled by two staff who apologised and reinstated the policy. When I escalated to managers to complain they just lied and said it was never cancelled and that the other two customer service representatives were wrong. Despite my having physical evidence that the policy had been incorrectly cancelled. I've got a new comprehensive policy with another company $60 per month cheaper.

Avoid AAMI at all costs!

Avoid AAMI at all costs!
This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with an insurance company. It’s nearly impossible to get in touch with them, phone wait times are over an hour, and when you finally speak to someone, they just apologise, agree with everything you say, pretend to take notes, and promise to follow up but never do.
My claim has been dragging on for months because the repairer missed several issues, and AAMI has done absolutely nothing to resolve it. They don’t respond to emails and offer no alternative way to reach them.
If you value your time, money, and sanity, steer clear of this company. I’m switching to Stella Insurance and hoping for a much better experience.

What an awful experience

What an awful experience! I tried to cancel my car insurance and was disconnected from the chat five times, even though I was still there and waiting for a reply. Then, they wouldn't let me connect to a virtual assistant anymore. I'm overseas, so paying to call them was not an option. If I had realised it was this complicated to cancel a policy with them, I wouldn't have made it in the first place. What can we do about this @AAMI?

Called AAMI regarding my car insurance…

Called AAMI regarding my car insurance premium rollover. WORST customer service experience I’ve encountered in years! Sounded like I was talking to a robot in the Philippines. He didn’t understand the product he was trying to sell me on. I was put on hold several times whilst he tried to figure it out. I was on the call for 37 minutes in total. I asked if he could transfer me to someone who could explain it and he said he could but I’d have to answer all of the questions again. So when I was on hold one of the many times I googled the term he was using and explained it back to him. But I may as well have been talking to a wall!.

Disgusting that they’ve taken jobs off Australians to cut costs and yet the premiums have jumped up 15%, my car is insured for less, I’ve never had an accident and I’ve been insured with AAMI for 4 years.

I’ll be looking elsewhere for car insurance

My house had been affected by the strong wind of the recent cyclone Alfred but until now I am still waiting for the repair of my ceiling. Maybe they will fix until after the next cyclone that will come, Why until they had this type of business and when emergency comes often say we are very busy. Does the rule first come first serve or first call for claim be attended first. I don't know my first time to haveba claim.

Car involved in a no fault accident on Feb 15th 2025. Still no clarification from accessor if it is written off or be repaired. I would lthink would take 5 minutes of time for assessment as the quote from repairer has been submitted. Yes have a hire car, which is good. Costing them around $130 per day. And you wonder why insurance premiums are going up!! Do not go with AAMI for any insurance!! Helpful no! Prompt, no! Australian speaking person on phone, no. Expensive premiums, yes. 15 + years as a customer with no claims, AAMI does not care.

Had my home broken into my car stolen…

Had my home broken into my car stolen found torched. They are treating me like a criminal won’t pay out any claim. I have lost everything. Meanwhile I am still required to pay $89 to get police report for aami and as the car and contents on different police report that was $89 for each report. Meanwhile police have closed both files. I even went and did some investigation of my own managed to get some random persons cctv of the culprit around the area. I wish I had of read the reviews before going with them. I work hard as a checkout operator. I have no criminal history straight shooter. Guess this is just their way of dragging out the process so they can avoid paying.

They are cheap for a reason

I went with AAMI due to them having the lowest insurance premium of all other insurers. This is great until you actually need to use them. Somebody ran into my parked car (I was not in it at the time) and the claim process was very painful, despite it not being my fault. They ended up assessing my vehicle as a write-off by jacking up the price of the repairs needed, even though the other party had only run into the front bumper of my car. The car still worked fine it was just aesthetic damages to the front bumper and driver's panel. I ended up withdrawing the claim and getting my car repaired myself outside of AAMI, with the other party's insurance still covering it. I sent my new repairer AAMI's assessment report and they said they had added heaps of unnecessary repairs on there in order to jack up the price so they could write off the car, because since it was an old car they could pay me less money by making it a write-off. It was a very disappointing experience, having been with AAMI for 3 years and my first experience lodging a claim, which is not my fault, leads to them trying to take my car away to save money. I will be changing insurers as I don't want this to happen again.

AAMI prices are sky rocketing!

We have 2 car insurances, business insurance, strata, home and contents insurance, ALL with AAMI. This year my home and contents insurance on a 2-bedroom unit is $2000! it's gone up so much. I would hate to see what it would be if we had a 4-bedroom house. When asked if they could price match (RACV was $431 cheaper), the customer service rep said no. There is no flex on cost. Cost of living is out of control and these companies have us by the 'you know what'. I wonder how much the Executive Team bonus was this year?

AAMI insurance is a scam

AAMI insurance is a scam, I pay $170+ a month as a single mother with 2 kids(1 with a disability) to make sure we are covered and have been a long term customer with aami, Claims process is disgusting, when you ring to enquire about your claim they say someone will contact you, it has now been 5 months and nothing has been sorted. They take advantage of people, taking there money and promising coverage but than when they have to cover the expense they drag it out as long as they can,They also continue to take your monthly payment even tho you don’t have a car, than try and find anything they can to avoid having to pay it in hopes you give up, They beat around the bush needing 12+ different documents, 5 interview, while they can’t do anything until they get back from there multiple holidays. AAMI doesn’t care about their customers, but they do care if you miss a payment, Don’t get life insurance or funeral insurance your body will be rotting in the morg while they try and do everything they can to avoid paying, I would 100% not recommend AAMI Insurance, unless you want a headache and extra added stress at an already stressful time, they’re a part of the Suncorp so don’t bother with them either. Also when you complain they’ll apologise and than do nothing, and you’ll have to end up seeking legal advise and 60 minutes.

Total Rip off...please shop around

I have been loyal AMMI home insurance customer for 20 years. In this time I have never claimed anything. Yet, this year my insurance went up from $3100 to $4800!! their explanation was that lots of other people have claimed and so everyone's insurance has gone up. I went to both Budget Direct and Youi who both quoted $2000 less than AMMI for the exact coverage of our home and contents - no difference. The help I received from both Budget Direct and Youi when I phoned was also far superior to the help I received from AMMI as a 20 year customer. I told AMMI the other prices I had received and they didn't care. I told them I would be going else where - again no care.
Please ensure you shop around as AMMI is ripping you off. I ended up getting the same coverage for $2700 - less than last year's AMMI price.
