Avoid Acer as a company their customer support is beyond awful. LOOK ELSEWHERE
Avoid as a whole absolutely awful customer support. Honestly shocking. Shame, I liked the device.
Acer Nitro 5 and Acer Italy customer service review
I purchased an Acer Nitro 5 in January 2023 on Amazon Italy, and my experience with both the product and Acer Italy's customer service has been deeply disappointing.
1. Product Quality (Acer Nitro 5):
The first unit I received was completely non-functional out of the box, which is unacceptable for a new product. Acer Italy replaced it with another Nitro 5, but this second laptop faced severe reliability issues during its first two years. It was sent to Acer’s service center three times (plus a fourth for verification) due to repeated hardware failures, including two motherboard replacements. Despite these repairs, Acer was unable to provide a proper diagnosis of the underlying issues, leaving me concerned about the overall reliability of their Nitro series.
2. Build and Design Issues:
The Nitro 5 series feels cheap, with its plastic-heavy construction that doesn’t match its price tag. As someone who spent about €1,500, I expected better materials and a higher-quality build. The performance was decent, but the frequent breakdowns completely overshadowed any positive impressions.
3. Customer Service Experience:
Acer’s customer service was equally disappointing. Communication was inconsistent, and their handling of logistics for repairs was unprofessional. Over the course of the repairs, I was without a functional laptop for over a month, which was a significant disruption to my work and gaming needs.
They also dismissed my requests for a refund, despite my entitlement to it under consumer protection laws for defective products.
4. Lack of Accountability and Resolution:
They offered me a slightly improved model from the Predator Helios line, which can be bought online starting at about €1.299. However, they insisted on a one-year warranty for the replacement, despite my repeated reminders about my legal rights to a two-year warranty. Their attitude throughout this process felt dismissive and unwilling to genuinely address the issue.
Conclusion:
I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing an Acer product, especially from the Nitro series. The laptops have shown poor reliability, and the customer service fails to take responsibility for resolving legitimate consumer complaints. If you’re spending €1,500 on a laptop, you’re better off choosing a brand that offers both reliable hardware and respectful, efficient customer service.
Please do not buy from Acer
Please do not buy from Acer. The customer service and repair arrangements are absolutely appalling. I have 2 laptops and hinges broke on both. I sent the first one in, not under warranty, and was told that they couldn’t give an ETA when they could get the parts for repair. It has been over 3 months with next to no communication about the progress and I have had to chase several times, only being told today that because they stipulated no ETA, if I wanted my laptop back, I would have to pay the service charge of £60 for no repair! The law states that the service provider must stipulate a reasonable time by which the repair will be carried on. Acer seem to think they are exempt and can possibly keep my laptop forever if the part doesn’t arrive because they stated ‘no ETA’. Now, I need my laptop for my studies and have had to pay £60. This is a rip off and appalling service. I have another laptop with the same problem which is under warranty but I am not going to send it in because Acer think they can just keep it because they have stipulated no ETA. Absolutely terrible. Stay away if you don’t want to be scammed. I am going to report it to Trading Standards.
Castrated thus unusable
I attempted to boot acer swift 14 laptop from a USB drive which is a perfectly standard operation, and yet it refused to recognize the drive. I called their "support" and was told that ONLY DRIVES PURCHASED FROM THEM CAN BE USED. They even offered to send their drive with windows, and that's exactly what I do NOT want.
You think you bought a computer? No. You merely leased it from an erratic control freak.
I recently purchased a gaming laptop…
I recently purchased a gaming laptop from acer its the acer predator helios 16 and not even after 6 months of using the laptop it already has given me nothing but a headache the software isn’t working properly and the charging port is already broken
Acer Aspire Desk Top Failed After 22 Months
My Acer Aspire Desk Top that cost £850 less than two years ago died. A qualified engineer spent two hours (cost £160) and concluded the solid state drive had failed. Warranty is limited to one year so I have replaced as I can't wait for a repair. I have used desktop computers for over forty years and nothing has had such a short life. There is nothing about the environment or my use that would contribute to the failure. Thank goodness for back-ups.
Customer service is a joke
Customer service is a joke, they can say or do whatever they like and in my case they did nothing, my notebook had charging issues, within 30 days.
acer support is useless
Nothing is wrong with the pc that i bought itself but the problem is with the support, i waited 3 hours in total to talk to acer support yet they disconnect me everytime im next in line. All i wanted to know is if my pc was XMP compatible or if they forcefully disabled it themselves, this is the most useless support ive delt with within my experiences with any support.
Buy a different brand
£3k predator laptop (PH18-71) just over 6 months old and the SSD drive has failed already. Sent it in for repair under warranty and they have no idea when it will be fixed as they don't have any parts
Disappointing post-sales
I purchased an ACER Aspire 5, and after a few months of use, the audio quality began to deteriorate significantly. At times, I can barely hear the sound, even with the volume set to 100%. I reached out to ACER to report the issue, providing them with my order number. However, they responded by stating they could not locate my order and abruptly closed the conversation. In a second attempt, I sent them the invoice as proof of purchase, clearly indicating that I bought the device from the ACER store. Despite this, they simply directed me to contact customer service by phone, once again refusing to address my issue. Overall, the post-sales customer service has been quite disappointing.
Acer Aspire
Acer Aspire - without doubt the worst computer I have owned in 20 years
Broken charger. Can't get another
I brought a laptop in March. Not even 7 months later my charger got a lose wire and is now unusable. I tried to buy a new one from the website but they don't have one for this model only their old laptops. I got in touch and they told me to contact this other department which I did. 4 days later they still haven't responded and I can't use my laptop anymore. Wish I'd never brought an Acer
Support for newish computer…
I have a simple problem that I would like fixed. I simply want to add a new WiFi network but there is no way to get to WiFi settings without an Ethernet connection…. Should be simple, multiple computer literate people have tried to help…. Nothing!! Tried calling aced customer service and was told that since my computer is over a year old I will have to pay$100 in order to talk to tech support! $100 for WiFi help!?!?
Ordered new PC & mouse
Ordered new PC & mouse. Mouse charging lead has broken after 4 weeks. Reported to Acer CS, pictures sent. CS agent accused me of break the cable intentionally! Appalling service & customer service needs to be overhaled.
A total waste of money
A total waste of money. They make you spend your money to fix things that they should.
Horrible experience, laptop never arrived
Could not recommend them any less. Ordered a laptop over a month ago, delivery time was estimated to be a few days. Still hasn't arrived, customer service has been non existent, constantly saying "we are checking with DHS" and nothing else. Money has been paid, nothing delivered, support impossible to contact and slow to respond online. So disappointing.
Acer wont honor warranty
I purchased an Acer Predator Triton 14 from Amazon.com, assured by Amazon that the laptop came with an International Traveler's Warranty Passport. This led me to believe the laptop would be covered globally. Unfortunately, after just a few weeks, I noticed a blue hue on the screen and constant stuttering during use. I exhausted every possible software fix before deciding to use my warranty.
When I contacted the local service centers, I was told to bring the laptop and receipt for inspection. The service experience was disappointing—the desk representative was rude both over the phone and in person. After checking the serial number, they informed me they couldn't process the warranty because the laptop was purchased in the U.S. market.
So now, I'm left with a $1500 brick, despite having all the documentation that suggests I should be covered.
Useless customer support
Useless customer support. My credit card was not processed on the Acer website and I called customer support to help. They were not able to get 3 different credit cards to go through (all of which are functioning and I use regularly). It was a Saturday so they said they could not do anything about it and that I should call back on Monday as they don't have a full support team over the weekend. On Monday I called and basically had the same result. All they could tell me was "Well, sorry this happens sometimes."
Eventually, I was not able to order from the Acer website and had to go to another retailer.
Poor Customer Service and Communication for Faulty Acer Laptop Repair
I purchased an Acer laptop in October last year, and the touchpad failed shortly after. Despite reporting the issue promptly, Acer's customer service was appalling. The laptop was collected without prior notice, and I received no confirmation of its receipt or repair status.
I had to continuously chase them for updates, which was incredibly frustrating. This poor service has caused me to miss important coursework and other essential tasks. I am deeply disappointed with Acer and would not recommend their products or customer service.
Zero accountability for a faulty product
I purchased a refurbished Acer Nitro laptop in 2023 with limited warranty. From day one, the audio on this laptop has never worked. I tried troubleshooting with them many times until I finally had to send it to their repair shop on my dime.
They "fixed" it and sent it back. Within 2 days, the problem came back.
Took the time to troubleshoot again and had to send it to them again, they paid for it this time.
They "fixed" it again and sent it back to me. Within a week, the problem came back.
I sent it back a THIRD time. They finally replaced the motherboard along with a few other things. This time, it worked for a full 7 months before the problem came back again.
At this point I was told that they can no longer repair it free of charge because I'm out of warranty. I said, I understand but this is the same issue I was having 3 times before and it's still not working.
Their response was essentially, sorry, nothing we can do. Good luck getting it fixed with a third party shop and I have to pay for it.
I spoke to a supervisor and received the same response. So I'm stuck with a computer that doesn't have working audio and if I want to fix it, it's on me.
I asked to speak with corporate and was told that I could look up their contact info but she wouldn't give me the information to contact corporate.
This is the last time that I buy from Acer. I hope this 1 star review, along with all the others I see here, get seen by enough people to substantially affect Acer's profitability and it effects a change in their service approach.
Jasmin, ID #: 75201, was the supervisor that was speaking with me and offered no resolutions except pay to get it fixed because you're getting nothing else from us.
