uk tourists beware Advantage scam MCO

Flying in from Uk We pre booked what we believed to be s Europcar car via Autoeurope website. But the rental Voucher said Advantage. The Advantage desk staff said all rental cars in Florida now have toll passes built in and our own toll pass device wouldn’t work as their built in Toll device would override this. She even showed a plastic replica of the Toll device to reinforce the need to pay extra to take this inbuilt device.
We declined and set our own satnav to avoid all toll roads .But other customers could feel pressured & duped by this underhand practice. They desk staff are lying to customers as private Toll pass devices do still work. We were also told our receipt would be emailed to us but as yet have received nothing. We have never used this company and will never use them again. It left a bad taste being blatantly lied to. Tourists beware.

Price gouging

i rented a Kia Optima on 3/21/19 and returned the car on 3/25/19 in Las Vegas NV. The counter pushed the gas price of 2.75 a gallon and that it was cheaper than the local gas price. I was told I would only be charged for the gas i used. Sounds good, right??? Wrong!!!! I returned the car with the gas just below 3/4 of a tank and I just received my bill of $58.43. WOW! I called Advantage customer service and the told me they automatically charge for a full tank of gas - 32.5 gallons!!!! What a rip off!! SO CUSTOMERS BEWARE. DON'T FALL FOR THE CHEAP GAS FILL UP!!!!

WARNING- BAD TIRES

WARNING - BAD TIRES ON THEIR CARS - NEVER RENT FROM THIS RIP OFF PLACE. They rented me a car with BAD TIRES which started to go low as soon as I drove away, and I filled it with air and drove to another city. When it kept going low, I called to tell them and they told me to change the tire, even though I was near a tire repair place. I explained I needed to have it repaired and wanted reimbursed. I got a person who barely spoke english and seemed mentally incompetent. Two days later after repairing the tire it went flat again. I called them AGAIN and they said a manager would decide if I would be reimbursed. I was told by the tire repair place I had to replace the tire, not because of the recent repair I had done, but because of an OLD plug in a bad place on the tire that could not be repaired. I spent $230. dollars and was told by Advantage to bring in the OLD damaged tire and they would decide to reimburse me or not. I RECEIVED HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE when I brought the car back to the airport. Now they REFUSE TO REIMBURSE ME for the new tire, when it was not my fault they rented me a car with terrible tires. Also they say there are no notes on their system that I called, even though I called twice to discuss this before having tire fixed, and got mental handicapped people who could barely speak english and were incredible stupid. It is not my fault their employees do not do their job. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RIP OFF PLACE. DONT RENT FROM THEM.

If I could give -1 star I would

If I could give -1 star I would. After waiting over an hour in the queue at Boston Airport we were told that the car we had booked would not hold all our luggage. We argued till we were blue in the face but at the end had no other choice than to upgrade, at a cost of around $180. When I complained to Car Trawler, who I had booked through, I was informed that "I chose to upgrade". DO NOT use these people!

My worst car rental experience in many, many years!

My worst car rental experience in many, many years. Car was high mileage and flashed a computer warning, during the entire rental period, to return to the dealer. Picked up car at night after just it was brought inside after a rainstorm. Because the car was still wet I missed a very small windshield crack on initial inspection that my wife noticed the next morning. Being honest, I pointed out the flaw to the agent upon returning the car. NOW I'M BEING PENALIZED FOR MY HONESTY AND CHARGED FOR A DAMAGED WINDSHIELD!! I will NEVER rent from Advantage again.

Good price BUT ....when I got to the counter at the car rental center at the Phoenix airport they said they had no cars available! The same applied to the 3 people in front of me and the 15 behind....and their advice .... go to the other dealers and find the best deal or take an Uber and come back tomorrow...I got a car with Dollar at a much higher last minute price but thank goodness for Expedia who I had originally booked the car through and they stepped up and helped put with the difference. Kudos to Expedia. When they contacted Advantage on my behalf, the response they got was “we guarantee the price but not the car”....really? No wonder they can offer a cheap price if they don’t honor their agreement ... Bottom line - Stay away from dis-Advantage rent a car but do use Expedia for your bookings

We had a car on hire from Advantage car hire orlando int airport

We had a car on hire from orlando airport through advantage, at 10pm at night after being up traveling for 18hrs we were told by the desk clerk that we must take the $20.00 per day toll pass from them as the toll no longer take cash,i phoned my parents from the desk as they arrived there 3 days before us and they too were told the same thing by the same people at advantage, funny as they never took up the offer and every toll they came across DID TAKE CASH , so we were out right lied too our faces, even the virgin reps were warning
People there,Now we come to the car,it was in such bad condition on the outside the women booking it out didnt even do a check form for us to sign,(alarm bells should of rung) but like i said we were so shattered and with a young one in tow we just wanted to go to bed.2 days before coming home it was raining and we went to stop at a set of traffic signals when the car left the road,on inspection of the front tires they were bald,Now i have been in contact with advantage car hire through my holiday company and there reply was
Its your fault for not checking the road worthiness of the vehicle before leaving our pick up point.
Then proceed to tell me they are billing me for over 160.00 for non payment of tolls,i have asked for proof of the non payment and as of yet still not provided any official documentation.
PLEASE IF YOU VALUE YOUR FAMILYS SAFETY USE ANOTHER COMPANY as this one seems to have no interest,I have all the emails and replies and photos of the car should anyone have any doubt in what im saying.

WARNING YOU COULD BE SCAMMED

I don't normally write reviews but people need to know about Advantage Rental car. I know the usual tricks and scams hire car companies try such as, extra insurance, fuel policies, damage to cars etc. So when I arrived at the desk I knew I did not need anything else. I was offered the EZtoll pass for the 3.5 weeks I would have the car. I declined this and it was noted in the rental agreement. For two days during the rental we decided to use a toll road. I stopped at the toll plazas to pay the attendant cash. Then one of the attendants said you don't need to pay the Eztoll pass in your car is active. I explained its not suppose to be active and I want to pay cash. So they asked me "so you want to pay twice?" Yes I did and paid cash and got receipts from every attendant. I changed the Eztoll pass to the on position to see if it made any difference but whether it was on or off it was still transmitting to the toll plaza that it was active. I paid all the tolls with cash. One problem arose when I came off the toll roll and the toll plaza on the exit ramp did not have an attendant. I still stopped and placed my money in the coin hopper. But for this toll I was unable to get a receipt as the Eztoll pass had activated the toll booth and paid automatically.
On returning the car I explained the situation to the manager and he said it happens all the time and they were changing the toll passes to try and stop the transmitting when they are suppose to be off. He took copies of the receipts an said it will be fine.

A week after I arrived home there was a charge of $60 on my credit card. I emailed Advantage to ask why. The response was "tolls and 2 x $25 penalties for not paying tolls". I explained the above situation and that I had paid. The lady at Advantage Customer service (term used very loosely) said I hadn't paid. I asked for evidence and they sent me a statement from HTA LLC which is toll pass company. It had 5 apparently unpaid tolls, however I had the receipts for 4 of them and the 5th one was the exit ramp which didn't give a receipt (but I had a photo on my phone showing "Toll Paid, Thank You"). I explained again to Advanatge the situation but omitted the fact I had receipts to match the apparent unpaid tolls to give them the opportunity to demonstrate due diligence and show there honesty. They insisted I had still violated the tolls. So on the next correspondence I sent a copy of the 4 receipts. No apology for the accusations made against me but she did refund the $50 but wanted to keep a small amount for the toll I did not have a receipt for (even though I had a photograph). If I hadn't kept the receipts I would have been scammed out of the whole $60.

Firstly the Eztoll pass should have been disabled. If Advantage can not disable it and it automatically pays for a toll which means the receipt button on the toll booth doesn't work why should the customer have to pay a penalty?

Secondly HTA LLC and Advantage charged 2 x $25 for toll violations, which is impossible on two counts, firstly the Eztoll pass was active by Advantage's incompetence to disable it and secondly I paid the tolls with cash and got receipts. So there was no toll violations, in fact all the tolls were paid TWICE. But they will try and scam you for toll violations ($25 per day), YOU MUST KEEP THE RECIEPTS to expose this scam.

They do not care in the slightest about you or customer service. Even in the face of hard evidence that you are right and they are not only in the wrong, but clearly tried to scam you they will still insist you are wrong and they are right.

Collected my car from George Bush…

Collected my car from George Bush International in Houston. Provided with a battered car with terrible mileage, a destroyed front bumper and the engine warning light on one week in. The headlights didn't even work properly.

When challenged upon collection the response was those are the keys you've been given, thats the car you've got. Would NEVER use again.

To top it off, we didn't even receive the full deposit back as they had taken a chunk out for *Taxes* that had never previously been mentioned.

DO NOT RENT FROM ADVANTAGE OR EZ CAR…

DO NOT RENT FROM ADVANTAGE OR EZ CAR RENTAL AT RSW AIRPORT- FORT MYERS
Dec. 30, 2018, 2:44 p.m.
We had the most terrible experience the ADVANTAGE CAR RENTAL at Fort Myers airport. First off, Advantage while it was a bit cheaper than the on site companies ( Hertz, Thrifty etc), it was off site, we took a shuttle about 4 miles away to the rental counter. When we arrived, there was ONE person working and about 12 people in front of me in the line. It took us almost 45 minutes to get our car. When I began the rental process, the clerk asked me if I wanted their OWN insurance and I clearly told her NO, that I had my own insurance through my credit card. She then quickly told me to initial an electronic document in 5 places accepting the terms and not explaining them. When I returned my car, they charged me an additional $152 dollars for additional collision damage and told me that I initialed this on the agreement, clearly an underhanded and unscrupulous way to get more money from the rental. I called and sent emails to the head office and they refused to do anything for me. Further, I twice had to fill up the tires during my 5 day rental, due to two separate low tire pressure warnings, which I then called the head office to inform them and I was told credit for my troubles would be handled upon return. Not only did they NOT credit me anything for my hassle, ( I was told that tire pressure warnings were common for cars) but I was charged this additional insurance, which I mentioned earlier. The very RUDE person at the desk, Jamie, said I needed to call back the manager ERNESTO and would not help me. I tried three times to call the direct location but they would not connect me directly. If I could give this no stars I would but that is not an option.

FORT MYERS AIRPORT- EZ /ADVANTAGE CAR RENTAL COMPANY WHO CLEARLY OFFERS LOWER RATES AND THEN MAKES UP FOR IT BY RENTING INFERIOR CARS WITH ISSUES AND ALSO DUPES THE CUSTOMERS INTO ADDITIONAL INSURANCE MONIES WHEN I CLEARLY TOLD THEM I WAS NOT INTERESTED. THE FACT THAT THEY RUSHED ME THROUGH SIGNING THE AGREEMENT WAS UNDERHANDED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BBB AND CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY ABOUT THIS . DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.

Rip off merchants

We went to pick up our car at MCCarran airport Las Vegas Sept 14th 2018. I had booked the car through Easy Car Rental online not Advantage. At the desk the Advantage representative refused to release the car until we paid Rental Liability Protection. I pointed out that I had paid third party liability with Easy Car Rental. The representative still refused to release the car. Having no choice as we were stuck out at airport I ended up paying 309.26usd for the Rental Liability Protection which is an option I did not need. I brought up my case with Easy Car Rental, after many emails and weeks, Advantage did refund 50% of the amount paid. They have flat refused to refund the full amount. Should Advantage be allowed to treat customers this way? Can anyone suggest how this practice can be stopped as I see from other reviews the company only rate one star. This would be zero if possible.

Advantage Car Rental worst rental company by miles

The worst rent a car company I have seen in my life. I booked a minivan 2 months ahead of my travel from Dallas to Atlanta to pickup from Atlanta International Airport. On arrival there was no sign of a minivan. The same was true for several other passengers, and this was during October, not even peak tourism season. We were there to attend a wedding, as were another set of people, and so was a family with a little girl in a wheelchair, and a few others. We waited 3 hours, and then cancelled and took a minivan with another company. Not sure how long the others waited. They would not work with anyone, we asked if they could give 2 cars instead of a minivan, and they said it was against their policy. I travel often, and Advantage is definitely the worst I have seen by miles. Will never book with them again, and I doubt anyone there will either. Have been telling anyone I know to never use Advantage. If I could give zero stars I would.

I have never been treated so poorly as…

I have never been treated so poorly as a paying consumer in my life. I was one step away from calling the police. This was my glimpse of hell on earth.

First, I didn't know it was an offsite location or I would have never booked it. I didn't book on their site - which they rudely said to me "it's right there on our site".

Second, I'm not sure if they are using computers and modern equipment or if that's just mock equipment to make it look 21st century? Plan to wait a long time or forever for each person to get through the checkout process. The guy traveler who I came on the shuttle bus with (who was also unaware of Advantage being offsite) was at the counter for 15 minutes - that was with a reservation. I heard the agent snapping at him before I got up there. We were the only 2 customers so I would hate to be there if there was a line. There were 3 employees in the check-in center but only 1 was checking people in.

Third, when I finally got up to the counter I booked a compact and was given a Yukon. No one told me a thing until I got to the car. It was just me and I was driving a distance so that is a no go.

Fourth, I went back in and asked why she didn't tell me she was giving a large SUV. She said that was all they had.....ummmm you could inform the customer of that. The "supposed manager" said if I wanted something else it would be a 2 hour wait. I told her I had a reservation and it was already an hour past that time. She said if I didn't pay ahead it didn't secure the car. She was incredibly rude. She informed me I could take a car that hadn't been serviced or cleaned. Well, I'm not waiting two hours for a car - so I got the crapper they gave me. The other "supposed manager" came out of her office and those two big ladies bullied me....this is the point where I wanted to call the cops. I then called the 1-800 Advantage number and stayed on the line with a very nice guy in customer service. They were both in front of the counter yelling and talking nasty slang (?). They threatened to kick me out and not give me a car. I let a customer coming in know that things were not going to be good. The 2nd manager threatened to call the cops. I stayed on the phone for at least 10 minutes with customer service - sort of like you would stay on the phone with 911 in an emergency.

I went out and got my compact car and was concerned that the 2 "supposed managers" were going to sabotage my car or damage it on return. I started calling around to check other car rental agencies but was stuck offsite at night and it wasn't a good scenario. The employees outside and I took detailed pics of the car to make sure I wouldn't get unknowingly charged for damages by the 2 "supposed managers". The people outside couldn't have been nicer, along the with the security person I checked out with, and the shuttle bus driver. So, I feel like there are just a few bad apples in the bunch. Not sure how they would have responsibility as managers?

If you like the show "Cops" this might be a good experience for you. If you like incompetence, being bullied, being talked down to, long waits, off airport cars, old equipment, and people mocking and laughing at you and wasting time....then this is your place!

Bullied and over-charged

I rented a car from Advantage in Las Vegas on Sept 29th. I was bullied into accepting an "additional driver" fee for my wife, which came to over $180, despite the fact that this is against Nevada state law (Nev. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 482.31515) and against the company's own terms and conditions (which I didn't get to see until *after* I'd agreed to all the charges).

The person I dealt with at the desk was very unpleasant, saying she didn't care what the law said, and I wasn't getting the car unless I agreed to the charges. The rental desk was busy, there was a long line of people waiting to be served, and we had a long drive ahead of us, so I felt that I had no option but to accept the charge. But I was basically bullied into it.

Fortunately, when I returned the car I was able to protest the charges and they were refunded. But the Las Vegas office manager refused to accept that her employee had done anything wrong, and she gave me the impression that ripping off tourists who don't know the detail of the Nevada state law is standard practice.

The whole episode was very unpleasant. I won't use Advantage again.

Advantage LAS is corrupt - be aware!

I rent cars every other week and this time I have chosen Advantage at Mc- big mistake. I have returned the car at McCarran Airport (LAS). Before I returned the car I filled it up, probably two miles before the return station. Since my credit card did not work, I had to prepay in cash (went in three times, 50+10+10). We returned the car full but could not produce a credit card receipt. On the email receipt they claim the car was returned empty. I wish I had made a photo from the gauge. Bottom line: Advantage in LAS are corrupt, so be aware!

Worst experience with Car Rental ORD

I normally use Enterprise; but when I booked my airline ticket through JustFly.com, they offered what seemed like a great rate for just over a week - just over $500. BEWARE! My final charge exceeded $1,000. They have sneaky charges, a signing mechanism that use acronyms that are misleading, and don't allow you to see the full details (and when asked, they said "it's just the basic contract - it's not an extra"), up-selling nonstop from the moment you walk in the door, and only after you've signed a mysteriously small space that doesn't reflect the actual document are you provided the entire contract to read. And when questioned about charges that are more than twice the original contract, lied to about a "refund" that will be applied when the car is returned. Worst experience ever.

Worst Experience

I wish I did not put my trust to this Advantage Rent-A-Car. I got a car from Salt Lake City in late August, did not check the air-conditioning because it was cool in the early morning, and I was told that the car was fully inspected. Big mistake. The air conditioning was broken, and I was stuck with it for 5 days, suffering from the heat. The company did nothing to my complaint, no contact, no response to my emails, nothing. Be aware.
