I coach a small SUP race team

I coach a small SUP race team. I'm also very keen on supporting UK companies and hand made products.
I've now been using an Ainsworths 1 piece carbon SUP race paddle for a year and it's as good as anything out there but easily the best value of money (catch per £) race paddle going.
The company are good to deal with and even the owner is happy to advise.

Ainsworth OCEAN (Poly Carb) One Piece Glass 225mm

Like most people who brought a sit on kayak over the summer months I was using the cheap aluminium paddle that came with it. The biggest mistake I made was letting my wife use it with her friends. She snap it 3 times trying to use a paddle float now there a steel rod going thru it.

I'd post a picture of the paddle held together with screws and insulation tape, but it would break your heart.

After spending a few months looking online at new paddles the Werner, Celtic and VE were over kill for a pair of middle people just using a sit on kayak for fun. The Feelfree paddle just looked like my old aluminium paddle with a fibreglass shaft.

My gut told me a low angle two piece paddle wouldn't have made it thru the surf or handled the tides. Even on a calm day they can catch you out.

I decide on the OCEAN (Poly Carb) One Piece Glass 225cm. This is a really nice throught out paddle. Its thicker at one end on the shaft for a better hand grip and a lot stronger than my old paddle. The blades are nicely shaped too.

Ainsworth offer a repair service. So if the love of my life snaps it, I'll just send it back and pay for the repair.

I found dealing with Ainsworth directly meant I got a better deal. There sales team are friendly & patient. The paddle arrived within 48 hours.

Over all its a good mid range paddle that should last years. I don't know why there not more about them online.
