The property was extremely dirty and completely different from what the host described. It had a very bad smell and was not a place anyone could stay in.
Because of these conditions, we had to cancel immediately after arrival. However, Airbnb told us that a refund could only be processed if the host approved it. As a result, I was charged $400 and have not received any refund.
I have been dealing with this issue for 7 months, and Airbnb has shown no real effort to resolve it. At this point, it feels like they are simply telling me to accept the loss and move on.
This is completely unacceptable. I expect Airbnb to take responsibility and issue my refund.

We unfortunately had to cancel our stay due to circumstances outside of our control. We reached out hoping for some understanding or flexibility, but none was offered. As a result, we lost nearly $700 despite trying to communicate honestly and respectfully.
Situations like this are when good hosts usually show a bit of goodwill. Unfortunately that wasn’t our experience here, which left us feeling very disappointed.
Future guests should make sure they fully understand the cancellation policy before booking, as there appears to be very little flexibility even in difficult situations

Two pending forecasted snowstorm in the Atlantic Region of Nova Scotia and PEI. 1st prevents travel to Nova Scotia for my guest. 2nd snowstorm is on the 2nd day of the trip 15 to 20 cm of snow
So we made the decision to cancel because we had trip insurance 🤣
To start a claim you are instructed to cancel the reservation 1st. Only to find out on the phone from a call centre that trip interruption only starts on the 1st day of the reservation. So youre cover you would think 🤔 think again. Reservation canceled no trip insurance

Customer service is abhorrent
Something went wrong with my booking while I was travelling in France. The team proceeded to refer me to a different company who wasted my time of about a month or two month just to say no they were not gonna give me whatsoever type of refund. Even though my girlfriend was hurt off because of the poor conditions of the apartment that we rented.

We showed up to our property, with babies and our fur babies, the property had an in ground pool with no markings of where it is located after a big snow fall...so being concerned for the kids playing in backyard or fur babies falling in it I was extremely nervous and asked if there was a way to find where the pool was located besides the pictures they posted during the summer months. They had no suggestions but to look at the photos online so in mom panic, I asked to cancel and the host denied me. I continued to bring my belongings inside trying to come up with a solution regarding the backyard and noticed a strong cat pee odour... both my kids have allergies so I then explained I was very unhappy with everything and the host cursed at me stating "bullshit" called me a liar. I spoke to the support team through air b n b as I stated to the host that was very unprofessional and I now felt extremely uncomfortable, she said I should look for a new accommodations and so I did, I booked again through air b n b In Hopes they would help us. Thinking why wouldn't they after the language from the host towards us.
Turns out they wouldn't even consider it. You need photos of everything if you ever have any issues which I did not take of the "pool" and because she only swore at me once as I was was so uncomfortable and removed myself from the situation so no further harassment could occur. The support team claimed it had to be constant swearing and harassment. So I was supposed to stay there being treated that way with no suggestions or help??

Unclean accomodation at arrival and had multiple issues with the host. Everytime I would try to resolve it with their customer service (all remotely based from India), they would claim I would get 30% off all affected nights. When I finally left, I had to argue with multiple people as the company didn't want to honor what was told and told me I was out of the loop (as if it was my fault). On top of that, when I wrote a negative review about the host and my experience, Airbnb had it removed because the host complained it was harassment since I had asked for a discount for the poor experience and host refused.
They over protect mediocre accommodations. Will not book with them again.
Brutal and Negligent
i have attempted for over a month to enter payout information, it has failed 8x, i have called AirBnB 6x now to try to solve, each time they have forced me to simply delete old, enter new in spite of me describing what the outcome will be. Again, today, now the 9th time i received another failed payout account and they continue to hold my money and claim they are unable to pay me. In spite of being a 'Super Host', and i have called again to ask for an escalation to someone at Air BnB that can stay live and solve the problem. i have been told 'we cannot do that', so i am stuck in the circle of administrative ignorance, a company and process that relies too heavily on automated processes that when they cant accomodate something, are stuck and the business culture does not care enough to be able to provide escalation or solutions. its gross, stay away, use VRBO or other platforms.. this is the 3rd issue we have experienced with AirBnB, its the 3rd strike, we are moving our accomodations to VRBO and Home away exclusively

Extremely disappointing experience with unjust cleaning charge
We had a very negative experience with a property booked through Airbnb. Upon arrival, the accommodation was already dirty, very dusty, and the bed linens were visibly stained and clearly not changed. Due to hygiene concerns, we did not use any of the provided sheets or towels.
Despite this, after our stay, the host attempted to charge an additional cleaning fee, claiming we were responsible for the dirt, which is not true. All garbage was disposed of properly according to the instructions, and there was no rule or limit mentioned regarding the number of garbage bags.
There was also no information stating that guests were required to clean the property. The additional charge was unfair and very frustrating.
I hope Airbnb reviews situations like this more carefully to ensure fairness and transparency for guests.

This is my experience, I book air BNB in a website booking confirm but the property Mager are so sneaky and crook I feel like I got scam. The story goes like this,,,on the site says get direction for your key,,I message property manager for direction and ask when we get there ,,, ask for a copy of as a distraction,,, while doing all the requirement yo don't pay attention to message to read. He will message new agreement if you are not aware of the message your hook and have no choice ... When you reply and message back that you submit all the requirement you will get bombarded with direction message which you will miss and scroll back to read all the previous message and the new agreement that property wrote you. If your not careful and in aware you will be kick out and cops would be called. It happen to me,,,,this is switch and bait scam.. only check in for more than 10 hr and getting kick out right away not even 1 night rule,,, how many people get victimize by this switch and bait scam,, booking schedule should not be change alter or anything...but because the message between property manager and you they will assume you agree to new deal in private message... Cops got called on me because I refuse to leave in aware of the message that property sent me,,,, ICAN see drunk people,,, tired traveler fall for this scam.. IAM neither of them but fall for this.. cops sided to property manager ,,, Air BNB management side to property manager because the sleek switch and change contract message that is on your message,,,, No refund money,,, your holliday ruin... The offer for me not to get kick out is pay extra for your original booking or leave... I chose to live and not to get scam further,,, after all the drama they will make you look bad,,,, Air BnB will fall when there are more people experience what I experience. Truly atrocious customer support
Truly atrocious customer support. I would suggest avoiding this platform if you have any alternative. If you need help or relocation, the support can and will take days on end to respond and will pass over your case so many times…I had to pay for 2 additional nights I did not want to stay (and they did not refund me) even though they promised to relocate me days ago. In general they did not care about the many issues I faced. They simply do not care and they will not help you or find a fair resolution. They will lie to you so many times on the phone about calling you back it is unbelievable. Booking with Airbnb is a huge gamble you take and if the host is bad you are going to be left with double costs. In addition we are in an episode of black mirror now where guests cannot leave accurate negative reviews for the host anymore because then we risk not being able to book again because a future host might refuse you. This company is truly the best example of late stage capitalism and cause of a housing crisis.
Airbnb.ca chargers more than Airbnb.com for same property.
If you search for the exact same home in Airbnb.com vs Airbnb.ca, it is cheaper on Airbnb.com even if you account for the exchange rate. I found a property in Paris ON that on the US Airbnb site it is $300CAD less than on the Airbnb.ca Canadian site.

We used Airbnb for several trips because of the ease of use. Bad Idea!! A host accused of breaking their vacuum (believe it or not, we don't vacuum on vacation). Despite zero evidence provided by the host, we were charged for half of the replacement cost of the vacuum. We will NEVER us these crooks again and are happy to share our experience until the end of time to ensure others aren't taken advantage of by this awful, dishonest company.

Canada. at 133 sherman ave south. i big nice place. we stayed i think 3 days. over a long weekend. everything want fine. than it was time to leave. and we had a lot of stuff there was now 3 of us. anyway. we needed to do two loads in a car . and we also had i mountain bikes with us. so the first load. we filled the car up. i want throw the house very well. every room. fridge! bathroom every inch of the place MY SELF! the last thing i wanted was to give the airbnb to give us any trouble next time we wanted to use the site. as i was going out side. the owner showed up with his son. and was nice to me. we talked. we were running a little late so im sure that is why he was there. but seemed fine 100% so i told him we gave lot of stuff i being it all out side. but will have to do two loads with the car and is it ok to leave the other load in the back yrd for 1 hr at most. he said sure np. we took the load we want back by now uts been about 1hr and hafe. wan i pull in with the car. everything is now GONE. FUCKEN GONE. three mountain bikes. worth about 5.000 bucks three suit cases there wore full of someone s hole life at the time. and laptops two i phones. at two more bags. GONE! i new rite away it was the owner. bec were i put the stuff was were no would find if you didnt no to look. and the bikes were locked up with it to a poll. it took for. after were there was no one to call or fite with. no one took r calls. Booked online for month stay at house while I figure more permanent residence as am moving from Canada to USA.
My working VISA took longer than expected and went from moving check in date to a week out then requested another week but declined. Canceled check in 4 days before check in without knowing cancellation policy and all funds paid upfront not returned.
Can understand paying cancellation fee and/or being refunded with credit even but not one dollar returned. Host says following strict airbnb policy and airbnb says following host cancellation policy.
I get is not hotel chain but do they withhold funds when cancel 4 days before check in ?
