8th Best Airline in the World????

2 stars why not 1, well Air France were very good when our flight from Phuket landed into Paris CDG over 3hrs late at approx 0100hrs. They sorted out food and transfers to our overnight accommodation until our connecting flight was due later that morning and that whole process was very professional.
The negatives - The Boeing 777ER flights to and from Phuket were cramped in economy and the food was average, I just expected more from an Airline ranked No.8 in the world.
The real issue and ONGOING issue as of 23-Jul-26. Under EU Regulation 261/2004 we are entitled to compensation. I made 2 bookings, one for my family of three on this delayed return flight and one for my parents on the same flight. Completely different bookings and different surnames. My family of 3 raised our compensation claim and had it paid approx 3-weeks after returning to the UK (24-Feb-26). At the same time I raised a separate claim for my parents using their details and Flight Booking reference. A few days after submitting their claim, the claim reference was closed down with Air France citing this was a 'duplicated claim', it wasn't, it was a different booking reference with different surnames. I called customer services, got stuck in a queue for 50 mins and finally got them to see that the closed claim wasn't a duplication. A ticket was raised by the agent, I was then told it would get resolved. 2-months later, nothing, I call customer services again, they go through the same process and add a further 'note' to my case that my claim for my parents is not a duplication and it needs paying - nothing, 2-months later same process again. At no point am I allowed to actually talk to the compensation department which is hugely frustrating, instead the agents (who are helpful) state they can only add a note to my file/case and await the compensation team to resolve it.
I'm now at the point where I'm about to file a formal complaint through the Alternative Dispute Resolution for Aviation.
This is all so UNECESSARY, Air France legally will have to pay this money so why not just play by the rules and not put me through this process in the first place?

Nasty and dangerous won’t announce nut allergies

Dangerous. This is the only airline in my experience that the crew refuses to announce a nut on…
In their policy it states it is ‘at the discretion of the crew’. I was told I was ‘only one person’. I explained that it affects everyone on the plane as the plane would have to divert/land if a medical emergency on board ‘fine we’ll land’ she said. Other passengers around me were shocked. Nasty.

Do not fly Air France with a handicap!!

So, I'm obviously not the only passenger extremely dissatisfied with Air France. I travel with assistance, due to a severly impacted right hip since childhood. On long stretches, like, e.g. in big Airports, I'm on a cane for safety. Yesterday, on an Air France flight from Paris to Hanover, I was forgotten by the assistance service, which in itself is scandalous enough. I then applied for help with the next staffer I saw nearby, in an Air France uniform, and though he saw me in need and on a cane, HE DENIED ME HELP ON THE BASIS THAT I WAS NOT A BUSINESS CLASS CUSTOMER, and I had accidentally entered a business class lounge. I asked him twice explicitely whether he denied me help (e.g. by making a phone call etc.) on the basis that I was not a business class customer and he confirmed twice.
More Air France staffers failed me when I approached the correct desk. The guy who had checked us in promised he would stop the next assistant passing his desk by on my behalf, which my partner and I then witnessed him not to do. We stopped the assistance ourselves and reached the plane at the end of the official boarding, very exhausted. I then spent the whole flight back filing a complaint to Air France on a flight attendant's tablet, which, I'm sure, will be answered with convenient Corporate Communications wording, and nothing will change.

We travelled from Brazil to Paris on…

We travelled from Brazil to Paris on flight AF 465 on 29th June 2026. What a disaster, the cabin crew were so rude and obnoxious. I'm type 1 diabetic and suffered a hypoglycemic episode, I called for the cabin crew and I was ignored for ten minutes, I managed to get the attention of one member of the crew. I explained in a very curt manner my predicament, low sugar makes diabetics short tempered. He curtly informed me I should have told the crew when boarding that I was diabetic.
Under normal circumstances I would have had a juice or glucose sweet to hand but this time I didn't. I received a cup of juice with a level of contempt and eye rolls.
I then had the unfortunate need to use the bathroom, I have never seen such a filthy bathroom, the bin was full with tape over it telling passengers not to use it. The toilet was filthy dirty and badly in need not of cleaning but replacement.
I'll never again fly with this airline.
We travelled economy, maybe that was our mistake because premium economy and business class appeared to receive a level of service that was dar above what the great unwashed in economy received.

bad client service

bad client service, throwing lots of fake information but ultimately confirming they offer barely any luggage spot when you take basic offer. The low-cost companies do better for less. dunno how they survive for so long.

I do not recommend flying with Air…

I do not recommend flying with Air France. Based on my experience, they handled our case very poorly. We purchased tickets from Punta Cana to Bucharest with a connection in Paris, where our connecting flight AF6634 (Paris–Bucharest) was cancelled, forcing us to wait around 7 hours at the airport. Air France refused to pay compensation, citing “safety and security reasons,” but I do not believe this justified denying compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004. It felt like they were looking for any reason to avoid paying compensation. The only way we had a real chance of enforcing our rights was by hiring a flight compensation company that could take legal action if necessary. The customer service and the overall experience were extremely disappointing. I would never choose to fly with Air France again.

Do not book with air France

Do not book with air France

Nothing is well with them

They should stop the air transportation and do something else. Bagages lost , flight canceled without noticing and rude staff they look like they're all depressed
you couldn't even have someone with a smile . The pilots! You and your chance you may have a good one or disaster flight.
In Paris I asked air france at desk if possible to have a phone to call for my missing luggage.
They said They don't have a phone number. And my luggage will be in my final destination.
My vacation almost done with no clothes . Still waiting even i know that no one will care and I will never see my luggage again like what happened to my wife with the last year and no refund

So for me air france should stop and let Ryanair operate in their country they are 100 time better.
I will never book with them.
I can see air france as pizzeria maybe it will work

Rude and unhelpful staff

I booked my tickets with Delta, and realized later that I was flying Air France. I was appalled at the service I got in Business - the stewards were rude, the food terrible, and the seats were small and uncomfortable. What bugged me the most was just how rude both the air and ground staff were! Air France is not even in the same league as Qatar or Emirates………..

I have never had such a terrible travel…

I have never had such a terrible travel experience as I did with Air France.

Before our trip, I paid extra to ensure my family could sit together. After our first flight was changed, Air France told us they could no longer honor those seat assignments, leaving our family separated during the flight.

I also specifically requested to gate-check our stroller after researching Air France’s policy. I was told that wasn’t possible but was assured a stroller would be waiting for us when we landed in Paris. That never happened. Traveling through the airport with a young child without a stroller made an already stressful situation much worse.

The worst part of the trip happened on our final flight. Before departure, I personally saw some of our luggage not being loaded onto the aircraft. My husband immediately informed the flight crew, but our concerns were dismissed. We were repeatedly told the bags were “still being loaded,” even after the cargo doors had already been closed. It felt like no one was willing to listen to us.

About halfway through the flight, the crew informed us that we would need to visit the lost luggage counter after landing. At that point, it was obvious our concerns before takeoff had been valid all along.

After we landed, we spoke with Air France staff and even the pilot, but we continued to receive inconsistent information. When we finally arrived at baggage claim, none of our luggage arrived—not a single one of our nine checked bags. Despite telling multiple employees that I had seen our luggage left behind before departure, I felt that my concerns were ignored throughout the entire process.

This experience was incredibly frustrating and stressful. Between losing our reserved seats, not receiving the promised stroller, and arriving without any of our nine checked bags, Air France turned what should have been an exciting trip into a nightmare. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend flying with Air France and will do everything I can to avoid using them again.

Lost my luggage for a full week still didn't want to pay back my full expenses

I flew with airfrance to Salvador, Brazil with a short layover in Paris. I initially booked the earliest flight to Paris because otherwise the layover would be too short but Airfrance changed me to the next flight to Paris anyways which made my layover 1,5 hour. I made it, but my luggage did not. I arrived in Brazil without my luggage. It took them a full week, 7 days, to bring my backpack to my hotel. I didn't have anything besides the outfit I was wearing. In the meantime I bought some basic toiletries and 3 outfits in total for the week with a total cost of 260€. Still they only wanted to refund me 150€ euros according "to the incident expenses for the Jewelries". I don't even know what that means. Also they couldn't accord creditcard slips, even when i send pictures with the products and creditcard slips. I am in Brazil where many shops cannot print proper receipts with products on it. But they were not willing to take that into account. I tried to get more explanation on which products they ought not to be necessary or which products were not approved. But I got no further answer. Really bad communication and service considering they lost my luggage for a full week. And the expenses I made were the bare minimum. What is this for airline?

Booked direct with Air France

Booked direct with Air France; then held hostage over a checked bag

I booked my entire trip on airfrance.fr, start to finish, as a single Air France booking. No third party, no "multi-airline" package that I chose. Yet when I tried to simply add one checked bag online, I got blocked: "not possible, this flight is operated by another airline, please do it at the airport."

So let me get this straight. I pay Air France, I trust the Air France brand, but behind the scenes my flight is quietly operated by Singapore Airlines ; and because of their internal arrangement, I lose the ability to do the most basic thing a passenger needs: add luggage. And the "solution"? Show up at the airport and pay whatever they decide to charge me on the spot, at counter prices everyone knows are two to three times higher than online.
That's not customer service, that's a trap. The price can't even be quoted in advance. I'm told I'll only find out "on the day, at check-in." Being asked to sign a blank check and hope for the best is unacceptable in 2026.
If you sell a ticket under the Air France name and take my money as Air France, then I should get Air France's services, including adding a bag online at a fair, transparent price.

Offloading the problem onto the passenger and cashing in at the counter is a disgrace. I already paid for a bag on the outbound leg without any issue, which makes this even more absurd.

Do better. Fix your codeshare booking system, or stop pretending these are "Air France flights."

Worst airline imaginable

Worst airline imaginable. Delayed a flight every 20 minutes for 4 hours due to “technical difficulties” finally got us a new flight but for the next day with a connection after I had paid for a direct flight. For compensation they gave me a laughable €15 and put me in a terrible hotel for the night with no shuttle to that hotel. This has happened twice to me now flying Air France. Last time I do that. Customer service was very unhelpful and did not care about its customers. Do not fly Air France.

The airline didn't bring money back

The airline is refusing to refund funds erroneously charged to my payment card. I opened a support ticket regarding the issue. They promised a refund within 60 days—acknowledging the error was theirs—yet the money has not been returned; customer support sends only canned responses, and my ticket has been closed as "resolved"

DONT BOOK AIRFRANCE

I had to unexpectedly cancel our trip because my husband has stage four cancer and needed to undergo surgery the week prior to our trip. I attempted to call customer service, but after waiting on hold for 30 minutes, I hung up and checked their website, which is what the automated message told me to do. I found my only option was to get a refund of my taxes. After talking to friends, they said I should be able to get a voucher since I didn’t take the flight. I have called and emailed them countless times and they are unwilling to help me. The customer service agents are not only not helpful but do not care that my dying husband who is not working and I, are now out $3,000. I’m disgusted by this company. Air France-KLM is worth billions of dollars. I’m simply asking for a voucher so we can take a trip before he dies. So disgusted and disappointed.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. I had 2 horrible flights this month with them. First one the flight got delayed, they lost my luggage and sent it days later to my destination... Second time I had to pay 80 euros for a surplus of 1.5 kg (of my backpack because they weighed my cabin luggage and backpack too… so that includes my laptop) and the agent was talking in a very rude way (I understand french)! They then sent me a 11 euro coupon that didn’t work 🙂!

Disrespectful customer service, delayed flights and lost luggage…

Be prepared

Flew from LHR to CDG absolutely awful. 5 hour lay over before on to cancun and rushed through security. Cannot fault the flight going out or coming back. Be warned if you're on a night flight the staff walk around with flashlights resulting in being woken up, so wear an eye mask! Asked if we could have some water and we were told to go to the back of the plane and help ourselves. Staff had faces liked smacked bums. Won't be flying with them again
