AKASIA Return Policy

I purchased a rug from AKASIA DESIGN after reviewing their website, which stated they “gladly accept returns.” The rug itself was okay, but unfortunately it did not fit my space, so I contacted the company to initiate a return.

Instead of handling the situation professionally, I received responses focused on making me feel guilty for returning the item because it was custom-made and difficult for them to resell. I was initially told they would only refund $30 and encouraged to keep the rug despite my clearly stating I had no space or use for it.

When I referenced their posted return policy and requested a return label, their communication became aggressive and unprofessional, including responding to me in all caps and telling me not to “threaten” them with a review.

They also informed me that I would be responsible for all return shipping costs and that they intended to deduct their original shipping expenses from Turkey from my refund as well. None of this was communicated clearly upfront in a way that matched the impression given by their advertised “gladly accept returns” policy.

I understand that custom-sized items can create challenges for a business, and I would have respected a clearly stated custom-order/no-return policy. My issue is that their advertised policy did not match the actual experience, and the customer service became hostile the moment I attempted to exercise the return option they publicly advertise.

The product quality may be good, but customers should be aware of how returns and customer concerns are apparently handled.
