False, misleading advertisement and ignoring the consumer rights act 2015
AVOID AT ALL COSTS, A.Lamb Autos
Quote from the ad;
“THIS VEHICLE HAS SERVICE HISTORY AND WILL BE FRESHLY SERVICED AT POINT OF SALE……. IT IS PRESENTED IN EXCELLENT CONDITION THROUGHOUT AND DRIVES LIKE WISE”
My wife and I are partially disabled, so we rang ahead to check details, it was an hour and a half away from us, after speaking with the car dealers and checking on more than one occasion via phone, we were assured it was as advertised, my main concern was it was excellent condition throughout and it had service history, as I didn’t mind paying the higher than average price due to milage and history, I also asked if the cambelt had been changed (service history would have shown this) and said if it was due I would expect it to be done before I collected the vehicle, I made one final call before traveling up to check the vehicle was ready to be collect and all that needed to be done had been, I was again assured it was all ready for collection.
After the drive up we were both fatigued, we noted a few things strait away, both parcel shelf and boot shelf were missing there is a small dent in the passenger rear door, and the vehicle had not been cleaned inside or out, we were tiered and had travelled a long way and after a road test decided the vehicle drove well and bought it at advertised price, stupidly trusting in A.Lamb Autos that all was correct and present.
Half way home we stopped for refreshments, at this point we realized the locking wheel bolts were missing, no bolts at all, still four of the five bolts holding the wheels on but not the point, thought I should check everything more thoroughly, I looked for the service history I could not find it anywhere, I then rang A LAMB AUTOS and after a chat and apology, I was assured that both items would be in the post first thing in the morning.
I have to date received a set of locking wheel nuts but no service history and after a few emails to and from, have cut my losses, without Service History the cars value is reduced by up to 30% lucky I’m not looking to resell, I also must find the cash to have the cambelt replaced.
My last email to A.Lamb Autos was a few weeks ago now and I am still waiting for a response that I think it’s safe to say I am not going to get, I asked for a partial refund to compensate for the missing SERVICE HISTORY or to RETURN THE VEHICLE FOR A FULL REFUND, the later if I’m not mistaken is UK law, (consumer rights act 2015)
I have tried looking into reporting to trading standards and may still do so, but I have not found it an easy straightforward affair.
Be warned of this dealership/car sale outfit, I don’t have the finances to take legal action, so they will get away with it, no doubt carry on with this dishonest criminal behaviour, avoid at all costs!
