Shocking customer services

Shocking customer services. You get a good price for the hire but then get stung with unexpected charges and then find no one in Alamo will take responsibility so you can’t get a refund. This has happened twice- will not use again.

Just got a toll bill from Alamo

Just got a toll bill from Alamo, the total was $3.50 and the service charge was five dollars! That makes a whole lot of freaking sense, doesn't it? That was on top of them renting me a and Hyundai Venue as a SUV and charging me SUV prices. Never again

Worse experience ever at Alamo Abu…

Worse experience ever at Alamo Abu Dhabi Airport affiliated with Sanam Rent A Car. I paid for and booked an Intermediate SUV and was given the lowest class being an Economy SUV which is two classes lower. I told them the luggage I had and they told me it was an equivalent vehicle, but having had a long journey I just wanted to get to my hotel which was near the airport.

Having rechecked the details in the morning it was clear they deliberately gave me the wrong class, so went back to the airport to swap it out which they with reluctant to do, however due to returning to the airport I received a speeding fine. They take no responsibility for this and haven’t even given me money back for the wrong vehicle. I wouldn’t have had to come back to the airport if I had the correct vehicle to begin with.

All round worse service and no accountability, I would not recommend booking with Alamo, National or Enterprise Abu Dhabi Airport because they are the same company. Choose another provider.

Please be careful when using this…

Please be careful when using this company
Not only have they took advantage of out kind nature they bullied us to buy extra insurance when we went to pick up our car in the USA the lady told us that our car was not insured for vandalism theft or tire slashing and if we did not take out this extra cover, then we would have to pay the cost if anything happens out of our own pockets
It made me fill very scared .
And she was very harassing and persistent

We got home to find out why we was made to pay this but no one is interested

We then took a toll pass app
they decided to charge us for the toll passes as well this was beyond belief .

I feel ripped off by this car company and at this moment in time I would never use this company again
they need to correct this

we are now at a lost of over £100

it is discrimination against people visiting other countries .
And we were made to feel very vulnerable

Great Service

This is the second time I have used Alamo/Enterprise in Belfast. Always been very pleasant when hiring the car. I did order a very small vehicle, however, they only had a ‘larger’ one which I had to take, but this actually was fine for me. Dropped car back out of hours, which was very simple. Definitely use again

I had rented through them and inquired by phone about prices on a pickup. I ordered a Ford pickup and even asked the call operater if all i needed was a debt and ID + return ticket. arrived in El paso texas and went to get my pickup and was told no because of not having a credit card. I was changed the same amount and drove something way less desirable for my use case.

I had spoke to them while at the airport and they mentioned I will be taken care of as far as credit or discount or something and waited for a call back I never received for a long time now.

Ill never use this disaster of a company again. Horrible experience.

Booked a car for 4 weeks at a great price from Alamo at San Francisco Airport and the experience was exceptionally good. Rental counter was very efficient as was the guy in the garage and quickly gave us a choice of cars in our group. Picked one and we were off. A small problem with the car saw us back the next afternoon and the guys in the garage we're helpful and sorted a replacement quickly. Car was great on our 4000 mile road trip, can't beat a Mustang Convertible. Upon return the guys we're again on the ball, a quick check and we we're all done.

Reservation meant nothing

I had one of the worst experiences with Alamo in Houston. We made a reservation for a large, nice car well in advance and were quoted around $500. When we arrived, tired after a long flight, we were told there were no cars available at all — despite having a confirmed booking.

When my father spoke to the manager, all we got was a half-hearted apology and the message that it was “not their problem.” No effort was made to help us, no alternative offered, and no accountability whatsoever.

Because of this unprofessional behavior, we were left stranded and had to rent from another company last minute for $1,500 — triple the cost, for a much worse vehicle, but it was the only option.

This experience was absolutely unacceptable. I will never book with Alamo again, and I strongly advise others to stay away unless they want to risk being left without a car despite having a confirmed reservation.

I booked a car with Alamo (via DoYouSpain) and was downgraded to a smaller, cheaper vehicle without any proper explanation or fair compensation. I had specifically booked a larger car because I needed a big trunk to transport my sports equipment, and the downgrade caused major problems during my trip.

Despite paying €329.93, Alamo only refunded €14.27 — a completely unreasonable amount, especially since smaller cars were available that same weekend for about half the price.

After weeks of follow-ups, Alamo has still not provided a proper response or resolution. This experience shows extremely poor customer support and a complete lack of accountability.

Avoid Alamo if you expect reliability, fairness, or even basic respect for customers.

Overall it was fine

Overall it was fine. The wait at the counter was a bit long, but once we got to the car the handover was quick. The vehicle itself was okay, although it did have a crack in the windshield.

That said, renting with Alamo is quite expensive not the cheapest option and they do try to upsell you on extras, which makes the experience feel just okay.

DO NOT RENT FROM ALAMO

DO NOT RENT FROM ALAMO

This company is a scam and will take your money. I was in an accident when someone rear ended me at a yield. Since the person DID NOT have insurance they are wanting me to pay in full even when I had full coverage which overall effect my insurance. They WILL steal your money.

Terrible pick-up experience in Catania

No instructions were provided in advance with regards to locating the rental desk. We followed google maps, only to find ourselves at the far end of the wrong car park. Through asking around, we eventually found our way to the Alamo rental kiosk, only for them to send us back to the airport terminal to sign paperwork.
We arrived 20mins early to the terminal desk and were told they did not have a car available for us. We were offered the exciting opportunity to 'upgrade' to a much bigger car for added cost. We had specifically hired a small car for the narrow streets we would be driving on, and we were not interested in paying extra. They assured us that if we left and came back at the pick-up time, they would be able to give us the car we had booked.
We came back 20mins later, joined a huge queue, and when we got to the front we were unsurprised to find that they still did not have the car we wanted. Now the 'upgrade' was free, and non-optional.
We had been told the 'upgrade' car was a similar size, however when we arrived to inspect it, we found it was much larger. We were told there was no alternative and we would have to accept it. After being shown the cosmetic damage to the exterior, we inspected under the bonnet and found that the engine coolant was significantly below the minimum acceptable level. The attendant showing us the car refused to acknowledge there was any problem, insisting that the car was 100% checked and safe, and that since we were not engineers we were not qualified to be identifying issues - it doesn't take an engineer to see that a fluid level is far below a line labelled 'MIN'.
After some argument, the angry attendant took us to their manager. The manager led us to a new car, which was the exact car we booked. It turns out it had been available and in the car park the entire time. Only this time, it was suddenly 'against their policy' to allow us to view underneath the bonnet, and insisted that we sign and take the car without inspection.
Once they had left us, I did look at the fluid levels and they were actually okay.
I have no confidence at all that they were planning on re-filling the engine coolant on the other car to safe levels, and I strongly suspect they intended to hand over the car to an unsuspecting customer.

Car return was a different story. There were no issues. We handed over the keys, they did a quick check of the condition and the petrol, then we went on our way.

Alamo NY JFK: mysterious debiting on my creditcard

After returning my rental car at Alamo JFK, I discovered upon returning home that not only the rental fee had been debited from my credit card, but also several other mysterious charges. I asked an Alamo employee called Edgar for clarification, but after several evasive answers, I suddenly received no response at all.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a criminal practice, and I strongly advise against renting a car from this company.

Poor customer service

My wife and I rented our car at SFB airport near Orlando. Upon getting into the car, it would not start. I was told to push the start button with the fob which started the car. . The lot person was going to change the fob battery, but someone I assume was a manager told us it would be OK. It wasn't.
We had hotel reservations on Miami Beach for our first evening. After driving about 60 miles we stopped at an auto plaza, locked the car and went inside. Upon returning to the car, the key fob would not work. The battery was dead. I opened the fob only to find that the emergency key was missing. All of our items were locked in the car.
I called customer service for lockout assistance. They assured me that someone was on their way.
After almost 2 hours a tow truck arrived. He wasn't there to open the car. He towed it away with all of our personal items and luggage locked inside.
When I called the Alamo customer assistance again. I dealt with the first of our rude customer assistants who implied it was our fault for being locked out.
Once again, dead key fob battery and no emergency key. Not our fault.
Another call to customer service. This time, after a lot of frustration, our second rude customer service assistant finally agreed to send us a link to an Uber.
After clicking the link and waiting for response. (We're on hour 4 at a truck stop at this point) we were informed that no Uber was available.
Another call to another rude Alamo person (no longer do I believe they are customer assistants) . My wife took this call, after lengthy conversation, she was told to settle down, before she was hung up on.
Finally, a Lyft showed up on hour 5 and took us back to Orlando to pick up another car. At 10 p.m. we finally got a car.
Now we had to recover our items from the towed car. The lot where it was being kept was closed and we were told we would have to come back the next morning to get our things.
Too late now to make the drive to Miami. My wife called to cancel our rooms for 2 nights. We were able to cancel the second night, but not the first. Money lost on top of having to get accommodations for the night closer.
Thank you to people to unaffiliated with Alamo. They helped in retrieving our luggage. Alamo didn't care.
A lost vacation day, lost money on a hotel and almost 6 hours to get a car.
Ridiculous.

Alamo @ MCO 😀

Just had a three week car rental with Alamo, easy quick check-in, garage is located on the ground floor (no stairs, escalators or lifts to negotiate with suitcases). Car was an Audi Q7, very good condition low mileage and very clean inside and out, return was a breeze it literally took no more than a minute, overall a great experience and have already booked another car rental with Alamo@MCO next year 😀🥰

When driving the car first evening I discovered the inside of the front windscreen hadn't been cleaned for some time, this made driving hazardous when the sun was setting.
I bought glass cleaner the next day, and sorted out the issue.
