Appalling customer service - Parcel left in a public bar and lost

I ordered from Alan Paine and had a terrible experience. The DPD courier delivered my parcel to a public bar area instead of the secure Hotel Reception at the same address (16-17 Cornmarket). The parcel was left unattended in a high-traffic public space and subsequently went missing.
Despite providing photographic evidence of the correct Hotel Reception entrance, customer service (Branden) refused to issue a refund. They claimed the delivery was "correct" simply because it reached the building, even though it was handed to unauthorized people (or just left on the counter) without any signature or name of the recipient.
The company’s "gesture of goodwill" was only store credit or a replacement, which is useless as I am checking out of the hotel and returning to my home country. They have been unhelpful and inflexible. If you are staying in a hotel or need a secure delivery, avoid this company. I am now forced to start a chargeback with my bank to get my money back.

Hassle Free Exchange Process and Fantastic Customer Service.

I ordered a jacket that was a touch too big - their self serve exchange portal made it easy to send back, and a quick call to their customer service team rectified a question I had. No quibble, no fuss.

Jacket itself is great quality. Thick lining, quality materials, everything you'd epxect from a premiumn shooting coat.

Unbelievably poor attitude towards a customer

My delivery was left out in the rain. Ok, these things happen and I accept that delivery drivers do their best (and are dammed if they leave it somewhere, dammed if they don’t) but what followed from Alan Paine ‘customer service’ was appalling. A totally unconcerned, diffident attitude bordering on arrogance. When I replied (very politely) to say I wasn’t particularly happy with their solution I got a very curt and passive aggressive rebuke.
I cannot believe that in such a competitive and service driven market that they seem to find this acceptable!

Miserable Experience

I ordered a red cotton-cashmere sweater, $200.00 US. Without my permission or notification, my order was changed to a "raspberry" color sweater, an ugly, bright pink. A color not even shown in the advertisement. Alan Paine requires buyer pay for returns to England, $62.00 US. Shame on me for dealing with this miserable company.

Just feels like quality!

First time customer and I’ve got say I’m really impressed. I purchased a Shetland jumper in December, which arrived the very next day. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong size. Spoke to them over the phone and they talked me through the returns process. Within 4 days a new jumper arrived. The jumper just feels like quality. It’s been my fave all Christmas and I’ve just bought another one today. Highly recommend.

Great clothing and service

I have been buying Alan Paine for over 7 years now. Jumpers, Rugby shirts, shirts. Quality is really good and they last for years. Fantastic brand.

Quality standards have dropped!

I have been buying Alan paine knitwear for over 10 years and the quality is far worse in the last few years!
Holes on seams and badly made/finished. Some items sizing is also questionable, either too big or small.
There's better companies with much nicer customer service than this. Avoid!

Bought my second Harrington V neck…

Bought my second Harrington V neck cashmere in 30 years last year. The decline in quality is shocking and laughable. My ‘real’ AP sweater from 30 years ago has not a single pill on it, and this after washes in machines and creeks, tumble dried, line dried, or dried on a rock in the sun. The new one didn’t make a single delicate cycle wash. Ever since the change of ownership at AP their stuff is pure crap. It’s just a marketing exercise today, cashing in on the brand’s name and reputation. Two issues here: the looms are not the same and the cashmere is not the same. 30 years ago it was Mongolian long fibers, now it’s bulk Chinese goat dust swept off the floors. Without proper long fibers there’s no way to make proper yarns. Where is the yarn spun today? Knitted? Stitched? Not England. Garbage. Do not buy.

Exact sizing kudos+

Fast delivery uk to California. One of the very few to offer exact sizing rather than small, medium, etc.—and exceedingly rare in this price range. Good color offerings.

DO NOT BUY!!! CHEAP INFERIOR 'RYDALE/PRIMARK' QUALITY

DO NOT BUY!!! CHEAP INFERIOR 'RYDALE/PRIMARK' QUALITY

Appalling quality garments and really unhelpful customer service. I'm sorry to say I treated myself on my 37th birthday and spent 379 pounds on a tweed hunting jacket falling for the 'Quintessentially English styling created from the finest quality materials’ lies.
I had initially ordered a jacket from Rydale but decided I should spend more money for a 'better quality product' as I wanted this jacket to last years, something to hand down to my niece. However how wrong was I! The quality is awful and no better than the 80 pound Rydale jacket that I probably should have bought.
I was very disappointed with this jacket almost right away as I had issues with the zip from the first or second wear. The zip is very temperamental and when wearing it is almost impossible to zip up. It will only connect to the double zip mechanism and zip up if placed at a very specific angle and maneuvered with the exact pressure. Any sight variation on this and it will not work. The zip will jam and gets stuck easily. The popper from the pocket also came off with a couple of months of wear and literally zero use of this jacket as a shooting jacket.
I assumed that because Alan Paine guarantees their products for 6 years that customer service would be happy to help and that it was just a one-off poor quality jacket. Initially they seemed happy to help and at first reasonably said they would cover the repairs and for me to provide an invoice. Easy.
Yet when I provided them with an invoice for the repairs for a local tailor, they said it was too expensive and refused to help! Unfortunately, this is what it costs to repair such shoddily made clothes! they now won't repair the jacket and wont refund me and are trying to push me back to the small shop that I bought it from almost a year ago now (with weeks of emailing back and forth). But this is under Alan Paines own guarantee now! the small shop can't offer a 6 year quality guarantee! I am going to take this to citizens advice as I will not give up!!

Excellent customer service.

Excellent customer service.
I bought my partner a pair of tweed gloves during a motorhome tour of the South Coast some months ago. On second wearing the tweed back on one glove split on both sides. As these were bought retail, on holiday, for cash, I had no receipt, nor memory of the name of the shop, but had retained box and tag. Contacted customer service and explained. They sent a return label for the gloves and initially offered a repair. On receipt they stated a repair was not possible, sent a link to current products, and offered a substitute of similar value. As they no longer have these gloves I opted for a hat which was received the following day. Amazing service ensuring I will remain confident in their products.

Unbelievably helpful on line help

Unbelievably helpful on line help. I had a pair of gaiters that I bought last year, and had never taken them out of the bag for one reason or another. There was a fault with them. I couldn't find any records etc, but absolutely no problems and they are sending me a new pair. Thanks so much!

Great products, super website and excellent delivery.

I was looking for something tweedy for myself and found myself at Alan Paine. There was nothing there unfortunately. A few hours later, I received an email which said that more had been added to the ladies sale - and I was looking for something a little different for a Christmas present for my wife. I found it, and the item duly arrived, beautifully parcelled up - and it fit exactly. My wife is delighted and, therefore, so was I! Excellent website too.

Quality at the right price.

I recently purchased a loden shooting jacket in their sale and I am delighted with the quality of the product. I have several shooting jackets that cost me £500 / £600 and albeit they are good products they are overpriced compared to the excellent jacket I recently bought on Alan Paige (AP) website. Last year I received an AP tweed shooting vest and cap as a birthday present and wear both regularly rough shooting and dog training. The vest and cap are both well made, excellent quality and great value money. If your thinking of buying a new shooting jacket check out the AP range of jackets, you could save yourself quite a lot of money and get a great quality jacket for half the price of similar products on the market..

Declining sweater quality and poor service

My husband has bought Alan Paine sweaters for over 50 years. We ordered 3 and shortly after wearing them there was heavy piling. We called the company and they asked us to wash them. We washed one which caused further piling, shrinking and a small hole. The sweaters were sent back for examination after which Alan Paine is sending them back. The decline in quality and rude customer service is disappointing after being a loyal customer for so long. They do not stand by their products nor do they care about customer loyalty.
