Looking at 75 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently encountered significant difficulties with claim processing, experiencing extensive delays, being asked for repeated information, and facing outright denials even for strong claims. Many people reported that customer service was often incompetent and unhelpful, with staff providing contradictory information, exhibiting poor communication, and sometimes being rude or aggressive. Reviewers also highlighted issues with payment, including unexpected premium increases despite no claims, and difficulties in receiving promised payouts, sometimes even after claims were approved. Repair assessment

I went to Autobody Shop in Brisbane twice for an assessment of my BMW Z4, and none of the Allianz assessors showed up on either visit. They gave me a time to drop off the car, but there was no follow-up or updates, and the communication was very poor. The service was frustrating and not what I expected. I wouldn’t recommend Allianz Insurance to anyone based on this experience.

Impossible customer service

I need a document from 2014 from their archives for a CLASS ACTION AGAINST ALLIANZ for me to get my money back. Have made 3 phone calls. Collectively spent over 3 hours on the phone and gold with them. First call I explained all details and what I needed, he said 72 hours and ill have the document. Waited 2 weeks, nothing called again, had to re-explain everything again as I had no reference number. They said it will take 7 days for my document that they would call and email to me. Its now been 3 months and nothing. I called to make a complaint to have this resolved. They took my details and said they would call me back in 24 to 48 hours. Been 3 days and nothing. I guess they dont want complaints. But here I am.
Worst customer service I have experienced. If they aren't getting money from you, they dont care.

I use their medical Travel Insurance…

I use their medical Travel Insurance what a nightmare experience that has turned out to be. They claim they settle medical claims in 10 days. It can take well over a month and then they text you “we’re going to pay you in 3 to 5 days” when you call a week later they said no sorry we’re busy we’ll have to do it manually. Thanks senior claims office Raj UPOS. Avoid them like the plague.

I recently took out home & contents…

I recently took out home & contents insurance with Allianz.I done my quote online as there was $100 gift card in doing so but I rang & gave the quote no. but said I preferred to pay over the phone, well that wasn't acceptable so i paid my insurance & was slightly disappointed of the outcome but accepted it..This week I received an email congratulating me of taking out H&C insurance & was eligable for a $100 gift card & to click on the link to download & choose which one.As the link wouldn't open I rang and after a few I'' just have to talk to my superviser i was told I had to be a member of H.C.F. & that is why the link wouldnt open. Nowhere in the email did it mention anything about being a member of H.C.F, I found this very misleading to say the least & won't be renewing next year

Lost precious jewellery vs Allianz claim

• I have lost 4 rings. I put a claim in on the 29th of April 2026
• May 1st received an email stating how I wanted to settle the claim.
• After waiting 40 minutes on the phone I spoke with Texas who stated my attachments hadn’t been received. He was helpful in receiving my attachments.
• At this time, I advised him I would like the money rather than a rebuild.
• 5th May Called waited another 40mins to check on the progress of my claim. The person contacted the team leader and told me I needed to get another quote from jewellers.
• After I said, “I thought Allianz was getting their valuer to check the details”. He advised me he would need to contact the Team Leader and said he would let me know by the end of the day. He did let me know but also advised me it could take 2-3 weeks.
• Then on the 7th May I received a repeated email about how I wanted to settle my claim.
• I called again waited 40 minutes was fortunate to get Texas again. He needed to check with another person what was happening with my claim
Unfortunately, no one could help him. The only thing I could do was wait for a return call
• 8th May 2.16pm no answer thus far
• It is stressful enough losing my engagement, wedding, eternity and my remodelled deceased Mothers ring let alone dealing with the insurance.
After my review on Google I receieved a message to make a complaint on the Allianz website. I already had!
• Monday 11th May;2nd complaint made Reference Id-WKD61JZG
Wednesday 13th May, Private investigator interview
Saturday 16th May; Advised 3 days ago my claim had finally been approved but needs to be passed by the Supervisor before getting the payment
Seriously

LANDLORDS BEWARE!!!

LANDLORDS BEWARE!!!! I had insurance with them for years as a landlord and never claimed. I had a tenant with an unathorised dog on premises. That caused quite a bit of damage and the claim was declined given the damage came from the dog not the tenant. Had loss of rent cover and even though I couldn't start repairing the damage till the decision had been made which took forever they also denied loss of rental claim as well. Go somewhere else, and save your time and money and property

Zero Communication, Zero Accountability

Only giving one star because zero is not an option.

Communication from Allianz has been effectively non-existent. I am assisting a family member with their WorkCover insurance—support they require precisely because they are unable to manage these administrative tasks themselves—and the lack of response and accountability has been unacceptable.

Allianz have been extremely difficult to deal with, with repeated attempts to obtain information or progress going unanswered. When the issue is escalated to WorkCover, it is simply redirected back to Allianz, leaving us stuck in a frustrating loop with no ownership and no resolution.

This has added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. The level of service has been deeply disappointing.

Zero stars

Zero stars. Worst insurance ever. I had a health insurance and it is like a gym - very easy to become a member, impossible to cancel. It took 3 months of calling, sending emails and threatening of lodging a complaint with AFCA to cancel my insurance and go to Bupa.

Another thing - we have 3 work vans that were all insured with Allianz. Well, this year they hiked the price up nearly 40%, although we had zero claims last year. Our boss canceled the insurance immediately and went to another provider.

THEY DO NOT EVEN DESERVE ZERO STARS - They should close down this horrendous company ASAP. They don't care, have zero customer service and no soul.

Save yourself a throbbing headache and look elsewhere.

Not worth the paper it’s written on…

Not worth the paper it’s written on after 3 assessments all over 20kms from my house for a simple hail claim they finally decided the car could be approved for repairs. They never paid the repairer and left me in the lurch and now refuse to settle me I effectively was uninsured and I was a customer who had all policies with them for 10 plus years!

I took out a comprehensive travel…

I took out a comprehensive travel insurance policy with Allianz to protect myself against unexpected travel disruptions. What followed has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve had.

My Royal Caribbean cruise was cancelled due to technical issues with the ship. This was completely outside my control. I had already paid for accommodation and other travel expenses. While Royal Caribbean partially reimbursed me, I was still left out of pocket by AUD 1,554.64.

I lodged a claim with Allianz expecting support in a situation exactly like this. Instead, my claim was rejected. The reason given was a policy exclusion relating to the travel provider not delivering services.

This decision makes no sense in the context of a “comprehensive” policy. I did everything right. I planned ahead, paid for insurance, tried to recover costs from the provider, and still ended up bearing the loss myself.

The entire experience with Allianz has been extremely poor. Communication has been lacking. The claim handling felt rigid and dismissive. There was no genuine effort to consider the circumstances or the financial impact.

I have now escalated the matter to AFCA and formally lodged a complaint for independent review.

If you are considering travel insurance, think carefully about what “comprehensive” really means in practice. My experience with Allianz has been disappointing and, frankly, unacceptable

Beware - Allianz insurance is putting profit before people

In my view, Allianz is putting Profit before People its supposed to help.

I was in a rear end collision in my car and suffered neck pain from the incident. I followed all the necessary processes to make a CTP claim with Allianz CTP insurance, my claim was only for a few treatment sessions with a Chiropractor to help with the recovery, Allianz rejected my claim, saying my injury was not severe enough. I am totally puzzled by this experience.

We take your money and then won’t cover

We had landlord insurance with them for 7 years, no claim. Out tenants thrashed our house. Claim was put in on 27 November 2025 - nothing settled until end of Feb 2026
There assessor reported $30-40 k worth of damage, they dragged it out so long, we had loss of incoming cover but refused to pay saying “ house has power and water “
Tenants ripped out carpet and as dogs pissed on it, they won’t cover pet damage , even though in Qld’s a landlord can’t refuse pets
They said foot holes kicked in doors and every wall was wear and tear.
I had to threaten AFCA to make them pay out after no income for ,3 months
Read small print and don’t use this company

Horrible

Do not go through Allianz. They will leave you feeling absolutely drained. I’ve constantly had to follow up even after giving them ample time to get back to me. They will also play with your mind by constantly changing the outcome over the course of 7 months of your claim and then leaving your house with no flooring and a gap to allow pests in and that’s just they start. They are inconsistent with their reasoning too. One of their trades sent a report but didn’t even attend site and they based the first decision on that report. I told them multiple times and they pretty much said they go by what the report said (from someone who didn’t attend?). They have also left two commercial humidifier machines at the house for months and have told me a couple of times they will organise to be picked up but I’m still waiting on that. You’re treated like absolute crap by them and they make you feel unheard and they seem to thrive off getting people to the point of breaking down. This is getting escalated to dept of fair trading given so many issues and inconsistencies. Go through a reputable company, not Allianz. They do not even deserve 1 star.

Very concerning experience with Allianz and the way claims appear to be handled.
A situation where a vehicle was severely damaged by another driver ended with the insurer declining the claim and cancelling the policy instead of assisting the customer who had been paying premiums regularly. Rather than focusing on the driver responsible for the damage, the situation appeared to be turned against the policyholder.
When someone pays for comprehensive insurance, the expectation is protection and support during a difficult time. Instead, the outcome left the customer dealing with financial hardship, stress and uncertainty while trying to challenge the decision.
Experiences like this raise serious questions about how customers are treated once a major claim occurs. Insurance should provide peace of mind and support when something goes wrong, not create additional problems when someone is already dealing with the aftermath of an accident.
Based on experiences like this, many people would strongly reconsider using this insurer. Anyone looking for insurance should carefully research other options before choosing Allianz.

Worst customer service

In the market, this is the worst landlord insurance you can find. Place that money in your bank instead of paying them, so you can save it for when you need it. You have not received anything from them despite your tenants causing 100 in damages. Following a 50-day claim process, these are the findings.

"The scratch marks on the flooring and dents on the walls are consistent with damage caused by carelessly moving furniture, rather than deliberate actions intended to maliciously deny you use of the property. The damage to the timber blinds appears to result from poor housekeeping and neglect, including inadequate supervision of children. The wall damage behind the doorknobs is consistent with insufficient maintenance, such as the absence of door stoppers, and accidental damage caused by doors opening against the wall. These items have been assessed in accordance with the terms and conditions of your policy."
Entry:- front flyscreen damaged - Tenant neglect/ wear and tear - solid door issues (photo evidence from 2021 indicates missing timber slats) - Pre-existing damage Sitting Room: - Marks on vinyl flooring - Wear and tear - damage to plasterboard wall - Tenant neglect - timber blind damaged - failure to control childrenKitchen:- Kick board rotted- Wear and tear - overhead cabinet door hinge missing screw - Wear and tear - glass sliding door frame damaged - tenant neglect - holes in flyscreen - Wear and tear - marks on vinyl flooring - Wear and tear Bedroom 1: BIR (Built-In Robe) door track damaged come loose - Wear and tear - flooring marks - Wear and tear Toilet: - Toilet loose, cistern - Wear and tear Bathroom: - Vanity long-term water damage, skirt tiles falling off the wall, paint peeling off the ceiling - Wear and tear Bedroom 2:- BIR door track not installed; has come free from sliding doors - improper installation - vinyl flooring marks- Wear and tear- flyscreen has holes- wear and tear Main Bedroom: - Marks on vinyl flooring- Wear and tear - damage to plasterboard near the back of the shower base - Wear and tear - damage to old AC unit cover- Wear and tearWalk-In Robe: - Damage to plasterboard wall linings- Wear and tear Ensuite:- Toilet and cistern loose - Wear and tear Spa Bath: - Cladding missing, very dirty- poor housekeeping/ Wear and tear Cubby House: -Missing timber treads - Wear and tear - loss post with missing handrail (treads missing since 2021, tenants reportedly removed them)- Wear and tear

In order to avoid paying us back, they use terms such as neglect, malicious damage, wear and tear, and vandalism. They use these terms as per their convenience. What do they mean by landlord insurance? The spa has been completely damaged, and it has been classified as having very poor housekeeping. I think Alilianz expected that the property owner will stay with tenants and monitor their housekeeping, manage their kids, etc.

Now that Allianz has a poor reputation, they cheat us through our banks rather than giving us policies on their own behalf. My policy was purchased at Westpac and I did not realise it was Allianz, simply using Westpac's brand name.

Last but not least, the customer service:- I contacted the case officer via phone and email multiple times. I never received a response to my voicemails or emails. Their purpose is to prepare you to give up claiming by delaying the process.

Allianz would not supply NCD years information which new car insurer requested. Strange explanation that because I had an upgraded version policy, they couldn't provide that documentation.

Previously no issue with Allianz, but after selling car and cancelling their insurance, Allianz refused to supply NCD years certificate which new car insurer requested. Strange explanation about an upgraded version that they could not provide documentation for. See the chat conversation below for exactly how it went

Thank you for contacting Allianz. My name is KC. Please give me a few moments to review your chat history so that I can better help you.
To assist you better, may I have your policy number?

K C K11:19 pm
Thank you.
I can see that your policy belongs to our upgraded version, we do not have no claim bonus option anymore.

K C K11:21 pm
I couldn't help you with this one but is there anything else I can help you with today?
Me 11:21 pm
Another insurance company is asking for this info so I can insure a different car. Are you able to provide some document to say I have not had an accident while insured with you

K C K11:22 pm
Let me check that for you. Please bear with me for a moment.

K C K11:23 pm
Thank you for waiting, I appreciate your patience.

K C K11:25 pm
I would be able to send the policy documents. However, you will not be able to view the option to view the nil claim option.
I would be able to send the policy documents. However, you will not be able to view the option to view the nil claim option. *Sorry for the typo.
Me 11:26 pm
I don't think that would help as they want proof of no claim

K C K11:27 pm
I'm sorry, I won't be able to help you with this one.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
Me 11:28 pm
Is this a new thing? I have always been able to get a certificate with NCD years on it before?

K C K11:29 pm
As your policy belongs to updated version, we do not have no claim option due to which we will not be able to send you the particular document.
Me 11:30 pm
I don't really understand about the 'upgraded' situation, but do need a document saying I have not made a claim while insured with Allianz. As this is true, can you please help me.

K C K11:33 pm
I wish I could help you with that but unfortunately, we do not have the option to send the documents. Policies starting with BC belongs to our upgraded version.
Me 11:34 pm
How do I explain this to the new insurance company please?

K C K11:35 pm
The service, benefits and features will be different from one insurer to another. You are required to seek help from your new provider to sort this out.
11:36 pm
But the new provider is asking for NCD years from previous insurer

K C K11:36 pm
Totally understandable.

K C K11:37 pm
I'm sorry, I couldn't help you with this.
Me 11:38 pm
Me too :-(

K C K11:39 pm
If you have any further queries, please feel free to chat again. I would also appreciate if you could leave me feedback for my service after this chat. You can rate my service between 1 – 5 (1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest)

Complete scam

Complete scam. When you apply for a quote they make you put the start and end date of your trip however when I purchased, it only insured me for the first day of my trip. They changed the end date of cover to the start date. I still payed the full amount but was only covered for the first day of a 9 day trip. Of course only realised when tried to claim for a stolen bag. Such a scam that they change the date on the policy
