POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Buying a car from AMD Automotive is a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, it's when things go wrong that you find out what a company is really like. My daughter purchased a car on the 12th Oct, a Peugeot 208 for £7k. Three days later a warning light came on. Since then we have endured 2 botched attempts to repair the problem and my daughter has been without a car for weeks on end.
Eventually we ran out of patience and requested to return the car and receive a full refund under the terms of the consumer rights act 2015. This took weeks, numerous times phone calls were not returned and the whole process was made difficult, frustrating and stressful. When the car was returned AMD refused to refund us until the following day which was a big worry.
On the plus side AMD did attempt to fix the problem and they did refund my daughter. I appreciate that sometimes used cars go wrong and if it were not for the ridiculous way they tried to delay and talk us out of returning the car this would be a five star review.
Sadly, although they eventually did the right thing I have to say AMD have a lot to learn about customer service and therefore I would advise against purchasing a car from this business

SCAMMERS

SCAMMERS – avoid at all costs!
Absolutely outrageous. I purchased a used vehicle from them that originally sold for £7,495 in 2020 (with 53,164 miles), but in 2023 they sold it to me for £8,490 — despite it being older and having 65,864 miles on the clock! How can an older car with more mileage cost more? On top of that, the vehicle has so many faults and has cost me a fortune to repair.

Avoid! Once sold a car it’s YOUR problem!

I had purchased a vehicle from this company on the 15th January 2025. I collected the vehicle on the 31st January due to it being “prepped” still had kurbs and dent on it.

5 weeks later on 8th of March while I was driving home from work. the vehicle had an engine light appear on the dash, stating there is a GEARBOX FUALT. “emergency mode” this had the prevented the gearbox from going into specific gears.

I called the the dealer to ask them as they said I have a 3 month warranty when i bought the vehicle. So not to worry? Wrong! take it to an authorised VAT registered garage and send us a report they recommend volksmaster.

Told to drop the car off first thing on Wednesday. Which I did. I then couple hours later received an invoice of repair which I was told to forward to the dealer. So they can then get it approved by the third party warranty company. The total repair bill was just over £6000

I was then told by the dealer “this is too much” we will speak to them and get back to you. After hearing nothing back I decided to call the next day as the garage had called me asking what’s going on.

Then next day I receive a message from the salesman saying “ we have spoken to warranty they only cover up to £500” so that leaves me having to pay £5500 to repair a vehicle i collected 5 weeks ago?

I was quite dissatisfied with how I was being treated and felt as I was being shrugged off from responses I was getting from the salesman. as well as not answering calls or having been told I will return your call on message but not doing so. But when I decided to call the business number I got an answer from the salesman straight away? A bit odd. He told me I had viewed the car before i purchased it? Which I then stated I did not? I should have looking back instead of trusting the dealer based on reviews. whether i viewed the car or didn’t how am I meant to see a fault within the gearbox? After expressing how I felt I was being treated by the company I was then assured this isn’t the case and that he will speak to “higher ups” to see how this can be resolved. I explained I cannot afford the cover this bill of repair. i purchased the vehicle so I could make a living but now I am stuck and out of work. Yet I am paying for insurance and the vehicle payments. This is 14th March (today) I have been told to wait till the 17th to get an update after he speaks to his boss. 17th… Update is to wait another day so he can speak to his boss? seems like I’m getting nowhere.

18th March, basically told me they will not do anything. Told me me to take it up with my bank and get them to demand an action from the dealer. The bank explained the dealer could easily resolve the issue by repairing or purchasing the vehicle back as soon as.

What a joke! Kept me waiting a week for absolutely nothing. I hope whoever is reading this keeps this review in mind if thinking of purchasing a car from this company as I hope nobody is left in the situation I am. As I’m still waiting with no resolution.
