I'm a 18 Hcapper and already own a rangefinder ( FAZER from AMERICAN GOLF ) So I haven't used GPS side. However im in love with practice mode on LAUNCH MONITOR. I should see improvement this Spring 2026 but in the meantime it's a game changer

Just wasted an hour Christmas morning trying to pair the damn thing with my phone. Server connection error repeatedly. Uninstalled app then reinstalled to no avail. Pass the gin and try again tomorrow!

I love my new Garmin approach looks smart and sleek and most important they kept the screen exactly the same size. My old Garmin I had for over 10 years and I’m lost without it for its reassurance and accuracy in my game .

The Garmin Approach G80 is a compact GPS with an added bonus of a Range monitor. The various functions are navigated by a touch screen menu, which is clear and in colour, you also have the ability to put it into big numbers mode. The GPS was very accurate when mapping out and giving distances to any hazards on the hole, the measure a shot also seemed to be accurate. It has a touch distance measuring ability to add to the picture of the course hole being played which also seemed very accurate. The launch monitor is very good and accurate, it provides a radar which gives estimated carry and roll, ball speed, smash factor and swing tempo whilst doing a warm up. Tempo training is good. There is also the ability to do Target practice and play a virtual round simulation (not used this yet - unable to comment on how they are}. With the G80 comes with a lanyard and carabiner to attach the G80 to your bag. overall, thus far I am very happy with the Garmin Approach G80.

Haven’t yet used all the training and launch monitor functions as driving range still closed but the GPS course map and ease of use are excellent! Punch in your average drive length and the software give you all the info you need. Zoom in on the green and select the pin location and the distance at just for you. Epic price of kit and can’t wait to use the virtual rounds and launch capabilities- Had my eye one of these for a while and one arrived for a recent birthday - and I love it. Lots of clips to enable you to attach to a trolly or you can hang from a bag by way of a sturdy Carribena.
