It could return the ball further, but it does work relatively well. Perhaps our carpet is a bit rough. I'd still recommend it though

The plunger pushes the ball back about 1.5m on a thick carpet (expect more on a hard floor). The distance is very consistent. Good piece of kit for my needs.

A good product. Useful for practice away from a golf course. The firing back of the ball to you is quite powerful and may be louder than you're expecting. It doesn't fire foam balls back, only real ones.
