I would like to update my review to reflect how the situation was ultimately handled. I had a difficult experience when trying to return the items back to the company, however, when my parcel returned to me, the customer service team then provided me a return label as a goodwill gesture and then processed refund quickly back to my original payment method. It seems that the company is taking feedback seriously and improving their services. While my experience started poorly, I appreciate the effort made to resolve the issus and the eventual positive outcome.

Avoid at all costs. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had with any retailer.
I returned items (Order #W000987438) over a month ago after repeatedly emailing for basic return instructions - none of which were ever answered. The items were delivered back (tracking confirmed), yet American Vintage simply marked the return as “closed” and issued a credit note instead of refunding my card.
Contrary to what their website says, neither “an e-mail confirming receipt of the parcel at AMV's premises”, nor “a second e-mail once the refund has been processed” has been received.
This is completely unacceptable and misleading. American Vintage explicitly offers refunds for online purchases within 14 days of receipt (provided items are unworn, unwashed, and have tags attached) — all of which I complied with. A cash refund was available at the time of purchase and was explicitly requested.
Instead, they have effectively withheld my money without consent.
There has been zero response from customer service throughout this entire process. At this point, this feels less like incompetence and more like deliberate avoidance.
If this is not resolved immediately, I will escalate through my credit card provider.

Three days later, when I tried to return the items, I was told I could only receive store credit — and even worse, that this credit cannot be used online and must be used in-store. This is extremely misleading and inconvenient.
The store carries a very limited selection. I genuinely tried to use the store credit, but there was barely anything available, and nothing that fit. It essentially traps customers into spending money they cannot realistically use.
On top of that, the staff had a terrible attitude and were completely unhelpful.
Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place.

Regarding the jogging pants: some of our 100% cotton fleece styles are brushed on the inside for softness and warmth. This process can cause lint during the first wears and washes, which is temporary and usually decreases after a few washes. As long as the fabric doesn’t thin or develop holes, this is considered a normal characteristic.
To help reduce it faster: wash inside out at 30°C on a gentle cycle, avoid tumble drying and fabric softeners, and wash 2-3 times alone or with soft garments. Shaking the pants after washing or using a lint roller can also help."
SERIOUSLY?
I washed these trousers several times, and as a result, my washing machine was completely covered and clogged with black lint. I also used up an entire roll (!) of adhesive lint, but that didn't help either. Shaking them sheds so much lint that the entire floor is covered.
For future products, you should consider attaching the fibers to the garments themselves!
I only wear these trousers for gardening now; they're useless for anything else - if that's what you're looking for...
This was definitely my last purchase from AV.

American Vintage should have warned me upfront. The small print of the receipt and sign next to cashier don't count. Should have been visible in big letters.
I would have not purchased my item under those conditions.

American Vintage – not recommended.
I purchased a jacket and decided to return it. The return process is already expensive when using their designated method, but what is worse is that I have still not received my refund since February 2nd, the date I shipped the item back.
I have sent several emails and I am no longer receiving any response. My experience has been very disappointing and unprofessional.
Can not get through on telephone. Ordered two jumpers costing me £255
Have no way of returning them. Phone line continually being disconnected after being on hold.

Abysmal customer service. I was sent a damaged item (I sent them photos) and their only recourse was for me to send it back at my own expense (must be in original packaging). Not only is this really inconvenient, but it’s unsustainable because the damaged item was not re-sellable. I was not even issued a partial refund. Extremely disappointed

Absolutely horrendous experience. Had to pay £45 for a return, the return had been received but still no refund. No response from customer service to explain this. Shocking that they are partnering with UK influencers and not paying for returns.

This brand is highly disappointed. I bought a Jacket in Portugal while travelling. One pocket is smaller that than the other. The denim quality is low and it's made in Africa. They advertise as French for the designs only.
I also got a pair of cashmere mittens that are the lowest quality you can imagine. This is an overpriced brand selling to gullible costumers like me that think ooh wooh that is so cool.
Until you realized you paid a lot of money for garbage.

After purchasing two items, after 2 weeks, I was informed that one of them had already been sold, so they didn't charge me or replace the item. Then the second item was returned for a refund, and not only did we have to pay for postage (something I would not expect from a large company), but it took them 21 days after the post office marked it as delivered.
Adding extra content. It took the team a whole month to respond to this review

Beware if you order from their UK website and need to return an item, you have to return it to France and PAY FOR YOUR OWN INTERNATIONAL RETURN! Bought a jumper for £165 and then had to pay £20 to return it . They do not allow you to return an item bought online to a UK store. They claim they are a small French company hence why you have to pay huge amounts to return internationally to them, and yet they have several branches in London! Will not buy from them again as I feel the item was overpriced for the quality and in addition was appalled that they do not offer free returns.
Avoid they are absolutely awful . Still haven’t received my parcel a month later customer service took two weeks to respond. They are incompetent didn’t even provide the form they want me to complete so it will probably be another two weeks to get the form. Avoid this company at all costs. Complete waste of time. Will be reporting the company to the relevant bodies
Be careful when ordering online - Only pay via PayPal because they won't refund you the money for returns! Spoke with customer service many many times and it only got resolved once I got PayPal involved.
Please be cautious when considering online shopping with this company.
