The hotel itself seemed worn down and not cared for. Most of the staff seemed quite careless and were in no way helpful.
Our first night came in a package-deal with a concert we had booked, but our second night we had booked by ourselves.
Even though we had booked more than half a year in advance, we were told that we needed to hand in our keys after the first night, because they needed to be reprogrammed due to the to different bookings. When we handed in our keys, we were then told that we could not get them back for at least half an hour, due to some problem with the IT, essentially locking us out of our rooms. We were told by the person at the front desk that they would send someone up to let us in, which they didn’t. Then, half an hour later, we were told that the keys still weren’t ready! It ended up taking them a couple of hours before we got our keys back…
Then there was dinner.
The meal was a part of our package deal, but the hotel was in charge of it.
Our glasses were dirty, like someone had already drunken from them. The food was very low standard for a 4 star hotel, and the information we received in advance didn’t list that we would be seated in a conference-room in the back of the hotel instead of the restaurant.
All things considered, we cannot recommend anyone staying at the Amrath Grand Hotel L’Empereur
It is in no way as Grand as the name
