My advice: do NOT rent a camper from Andes campers!

WARNING: Do NOT rent a camper from Andes Campers!

I am writing this review to clearly warn everyone: do not rent from Andes Campers. Our experience was absolutely terrible.

During our trip, we broke down twice with the camper, leaving us stranded for a total of 5 days. But the worst part was the horrendous communication. The owner, Gerardo, simply never answered the emergency phone number — not once! Communication via WhatsApp was painfully slow: he would often reply days later, and when he did, it was vague (“more news tomorrow”) without actually answering our questions. We were constantly strung along with no clarity and no real updates.

We had carefully planned a 3-week route, but due to the breakdowns and lack of information, we had to change our entire itinerary. It was extremely frustrating not knowing if or when we could continue our journey.

After weeks of pushing, we eventually received our security deposit back and a partial reimbursement, but €320 short. When we pointed this out, he simply stopped responding altogether.

Of course, we knew breakdowns could happen in Patagonia. But proper communication is crucial when things go wrong, and you will get none of that with Andes Campers.
Also, be warned: the Mahindra campers they rent out are of extremely poor quality. Local mechanics in Chile literally laughed when they saw the brand; apparently, Mahindra is a running joke there. Our camper’s engine failed after just 4 days, and then again 2 days later because the mechanic in El Calafate had only done a quick patch job.

Don’t be fooled by the fast communication before booking! Patricia responds quickly before they have your money, giving you the impression that everything is well-organized. But once you have paid, they barely communicate at all.

I had read some bad reviews beforehand but also saw a few good ones, so I took a chance.
We booked with Andes Campers because we were late and options were limited — and now I deeply regret it.

My advice: DON’T DO IT! Don’t fall for it! This company provides terrible campers, even worse service, and will completely ruin your trip
