Terrible customer service, terrible bag

Terrible customer service, terrible bag. I was part of their crowdfunding and was super excited to get my bag. Their marketing was spot on and the bag looked great. It was 100% my style and seemed durable. The bag arrived much much later than the anticipated date. When I did receive it the bag was ripped and the fabric was frayed all along one of the zipper
areas. I tired to return it to get one without flaws and they said they no longer had it in my color. So I asked for my money back as I didn't want any of the other very few options they had left. They almost flat out refused and finally after some heated emails agreed to send me a bag of the correct color. They were going to charge me shipping to send them back the defective bag until after some more heated emails agreed to pay for that as well. The bag I FINALLY received has since frayed along the area as the first bag I received. I would not recommend this company at all. Terrible customer service 0% customer satisfaction and a terrible terrible bag.

Handy off this company

Bag looks nice but is really heavy and uncomfortable to wear. For that it is too expensive. That is why I send it back. But now:next problem.
On the website they say that shipping back is free. It is not! AND: I am waiting since a week that my money is transferred back. Allegedely they have problems with tracking although I send them all information about it, pictures of the bag etc etc
I hope that I will get my money back sometimes at all.

Strap broke after couple months of usage. Don't waste your money on this backpack.

The quality vs price ratio is horrible. While the backpack does look nice, the strap broke after only a couple months of light usage.
After asking for a new strap several times, I was told I will need to pay for shipping fees of the new strap myself, even if the backpack is under warranty.

I do not recommend buying this backpack for anyone.
For around 100e you can actually get a backpack that will last you for years without any problems.

Just marketing or something more?

Unfortunately I did not buy on the crowdfunding campaign so I ended up spending a little more. But im a little bit of a bag freak so I had to see what all the fuss is about.

My first bag was fjal raven and wearing it made me feel like a teenager so I went and got a herschel and then a tumi bag. Now I'm on to Anvanda. I will say after 4 months it has far exceeded my expectations.

Its definitely a statement bag but useful at the same time. I put my smelly things from the gym in it. I take it to work. Because of the silver liner it never smells like sxxt. It's my go to bag.

One star deduction because I didn't catch the crowdfunding😄

I was an early backer of the…

I was an early backer of the crowdfunder, won over by the ad and the humour. The bag also did look good and versatile. As documented by many other customers, there was a significant delay with shipping the product, although I seemed to get mine relatively quickly compared to some others.
The bag itself? Unfortunately it just didn't live up to expectations. I got in November 2018 and immediately used for a weekend away. By the end of the weekend the zipper on the small outside pocket had broken, with perhaps 20 uses. The design is clever in terms of access points, but ultimately the straps were just not that comfortable (coming from a standard fjallraven bag). Overall, it just wasn't good at the simple couple of things it was supposed to do, despite the admittedly funny and clever marketing stating the opposite. A real shame as I had high hopes.
I admitted defeat after about 3 months and went back to the fjallraven.

What I needed in my life 😊

Comfortable, multiple compartments fit both my 14.1" laptop and 10" tablet pc, with chargers and other gears like hdmi cables, flash drives, etc. But the straps are sturdy enough to hold up the weight of my books, laptops, stationeries and water bottle, so that's great! I like the front little pocket to put things I could easily grab, like keys or earphones - things I'd need to reach while on the go with things in my hands already. All in all, a great, sturdy backpack with lots of different pockets in different sizes to make compartmentalizing your items fairly easy and convenient. Just what I needed!

This Backpack Is Amazing.

Nice compact but rommy backpack that stores my laptop, umbrella lunch, coffee mugs and bits and pieces during my commute. Well made, comfortable, and except it to be durable - we'll see how it holds up in German winter.

Great for daily carry

For once I feel my laptop is actually safe inside of a backpack. Perfect for people who need one bag for everywhere they go: the gym, work, classes, and everything in between. Good material and sturdy build. Pockets are well placed and the interior pocket is very roomy and usable for bigger items. My rating is 4 stars because the crowdfunding campaign delivery took longer than time they give.

Yea.. not a great experience.

I take some satisfaction in the fact that they're getting panned here, because the whole experience was less than satisfying. A lot of hype, which fell WAY behind schedule, and delivered a bag which I ultimately do not use. I ordered the small, which I find too impractical for everyday use. I really think the thing is just too complicated on the whole. The money they're charging, too... I mean, you can get a GREAT bag in regular retail for that price. Would not buy from them again.

Zipper is crap

Zipper is crap, I have two that have broken already. Contacted Anvanda and was told that their warranty doesn't cover misuse. Apparently using their bag for the intended purpose is misuse.

Looks good, but works very badly.

The bag took a long time to get to me and no one could answer me about it's status.
When I got it I was excited, but my excitement was short-lived: the metal joint of one of the straps broke within the month (with normal use), the space inside isn't very well distributed (I bought the big one, not the small one), the foam inside the cloth that separates the laptop from the rest of your stuff is not secured on the edges so it always moves and bends awkwardly inside the cloth separator. Also, using both straps like in a regular backpack is very uncomfortable in the small of one's back. The small strap that connects both large straps on the front is almost imposible to connect to the bag and if you manage to do it, it becomes impossible to disconnect again.
It is a very good looking bag, it has nice materials (except in the metal joints) but once you start wearing it you will wish to stop.

Don't Believe The Hype

Without talking about Anvandas great customer service, I'm going to comment on the bag. I’ll address their legendary customer service later
I wanted a smaller bag to carry a few bits & pieces when I was on my motorbike. Small is certainly what I got - from the outside, the size is perfect. However, it has so much padding, I can hardly fit anything in it. Now padding is good - or it would be if you could actually fit anything into the padded section. Maybe a tablet, but never a laptop. There’s a handy pocket to fit a water bottle – the problem is that it takes space from the inside of the already too small inner section.
I like the idea of having a zipper top & side which have a nifty fitting so you can “lock” it closed. Unfortunately, one of the screws that lock it shut broke on mine after half a dozen uses. Which means the side pocket can open whilst it’s in use. I’ve “reached out” to Anvanda – the bag is only ten months old, so should be in warranty. Guess what – they’ve not replied to me – probably because they want to pay £6.00 for a replacement from their website.
It’s not the first time I’ve contacted them and heard nothing – seriously guys, your customer service sucks !!
The other problem is the weight - I mean this thing is so heavy, it's uncomfortable after a while. Sure, the metal fittings look great, but they just clank all the time.
I really wanted to like this bag, it looks great in the photos. But it really is a case of form over function. If I’d had chance to see it in the flesh before I bought, I’d have paid £15, maybe £20 at the most. It really comes across as a cheap bag you’d buy from the local market. I’ve bought better bags from Aliexpress for a tenth of what I paid for this. I only hope no one ever asks me how much I paid for it as I’d be embarrassed to tell them.
Is it a scam ? I think they genuinely believed their own hype, but over-designed the product.
I've bought a Forbes & Lewis canvas backpack now - the difference is amazing, that is how it should be done

ANVANDA is essentially ghosting me

ANVANDA is essentially ghosting me. I returned a bag for a different color back in May 2019.... I was promised the other color and never got it. I have been requesting a refund since September. They are inept and probably in over their heads regarding inventory management...
Based on their customer service I don't recommend their product. I am really disappointed.

Not recommended!

I was waiting 11 months for the product. Gift card (30% discount to their products) was already expired for 5 months when I received the backpack. The backpack is too small and the zippers started to break after a month of using. Communication with them was also pretty bad. Saying all the time that my back will be soon on the way.

Would never ever purchase anything from them.

Horrible communication and they don't deliver the product

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Their communication is horrible, and when you do hear back from them (not often!), they are not honest at all. They don't deliver what they promise, and then they just don't respond when you send inquiries about trying to get what you paid for. I would never do business with them again, avoid them.

Have had this bag for months and LOVE it! I get tons of compliments on it. I use it daily, and travel with it often. Would purchase again without hesitation. It did take awhile to get it, but was informed about that.

Love the bag

Love the bag. Yes it took a bit to get but you were informed the entire time so no big deal. If you need a bag (or whatever) in a few weeks then you probably should not be buying it from a funded project. Expectations people. Otherwise the bag is actually nicer then I was expecting. The fabric & hardware are of really nice quality. I've had it for a couple of months and get plenty of positive comments. That doesn't happen with a regular back pack. So yes, I really enjoy it & would love to see other products from these guys, I hope this project was successful enough for them to launch a solid company.

Terrible bags, not as advertised

If there was a way to provide 0 or negative stars I would. The bags that took forever to arrive (MONTHS past initial delivery date) were sub par quality at best. They cannot hold a DSLR camera and lens as advertised, only the body if your clever about not breaking the flimsy zipper. The bags are an uncomfortable fit to boot and the handles that were initially advertised as a great way to carry the bag, were warned against using in such a manner due to ripping do the seams. My bags are out there somewhere as I promptly dropped them off at a donation center. Not worth the time, much better bags out there without the hassle of Anvanda

Well,

Well,

It took seven months to get here (ordered 02/18; received 11/18, and only after a lot of pestering the manufacturer). I backed the regular + large package.

Pros: The bag is great at protecting my stuff, and survives cleaning well. I didn't experience any discomfort in carrying when I used a single strap over-the-shoulder that other users seem to be having, though I have yet to use the bags in weather that doesn't require a jacket/coat. They are extremely well-padded and insulated inside, and the easily removable straps are interchangeable will more comfortable ones I had already from a different product. Thev pocket organization level within and without is amazing as well.

Cons: I'm a 6'3" broad-shouldered guy. The straps are not engineered well for body placement, and fall off even my frame if both straps are used for placement across the back. The "large" bag has ~60-70% of the carrying capacity of a regular Adidas backpack you can buy for ~$30-$40, and the regular bag can barely fit a 12" tablet (and that's only if I take it without its protective case). I honestly can only use the small bag as a toiletry bag for longer trips, or a quick overnight bag. It is unsuitable as the work bag I was hoping for, which would have needed room for a small laptop (11.5"x8.5"x0.33"), charger, a small screwdriver set (6"x4"x1"), display cable converters, a bottle of water, pad of paper, couple pens, and a snack or two. I found the large bag to be more suitable for this purpose.

Overall, as I can only comfortably use either bag as a shoulder bag, my old Chrome bag still ends up being used as my default. I more commonly use both bags as organizers within a checked bag for trips than using them as actual bags, which makes their price tag of $149+shipping pretty steep.

Communication was quite poor until August, and only began after initiating a claim with PayPal did I receive any communication from my requests for information on the status of the order. I've had delays on my orders before from Kickstarter projects. In those three cases, the sellers updated backers at least biweekly as to why things were delayed. I've even had one delayed with a shipping problem from Pakistan with a doubling of shipping price from their postal provider, but the seller took care of that major issue within a matter of a few weeks.

If it was possible, I would have returned the bags after receiving them. I think I've learned the important lesson not to invest in big-ticket items via a backer platform, especially since the bags are the identical price today as they were when I gave my pledge 1.25 years ago. There was no benefit to backing over purchasing via retail, as I have seen the combination listed on eBay (new) for less than what I paid.

In summation: don't buy.
