Need to be trained better…

This review is for the Argos clearance stores. My partner visited the Corby store as he travels the country for work and he decided to visit following a recommendation from a friend. At this time he and I were unaware of the store or any other store locations.
He purchased a Dyson airwrap which is advertised as refurbished and tested with no fault. He also asked about warranty and was advised that there is a 30 day returns policy and could return to any store. This turned out the best Walsall about 40 minutes away.
Unfortunately on the first use the power completely cut out which meant it needed to be returned. We visited the Walsall store to be told items cannot be returned to a different branch and that the air wrap was £96 cheaper in this store!
I cannot fault the ladies who helped at the Walsall store as they were very accommodating and understanding of the situation where they even allowed me to fully test another Dyson product which I ended up purchasing for a much cheaper price!
Unfortunately I’m unable to say the same for the Corby branch as when I queried with then whether they could price match due to the inconvenience of 1) selling a product not fully tested 2) advising the wrong details regards returning the item meaning we had to take a 300 mile round trip to refund they could not have been less interested with no apology for giving the wrong information when purchased.
I know this is a discounted store of Argos but the principles and services should be the same.

My advice for buyers would be to fully test electrical products where possible before purchasing. Only use your most local branch in the unfortunate case you need to return and go the Walsall branch as it’s way cheaper with practically the same items and the staff are much better!!

Corby Store: Staff a disgrace!

Corby Store.
Attitude of majority of the staff is absolutely appalling. They may work in a retail store but they have e zero knowledge of customer service and even less knowledge of trading standards and sale of goods act.
When I approached what I believed to be senior staff behind the main counter to enquire about a return she literally just went off on an rant and pointed to alleged signs and a orange slip that was supposed to be attached to receipts. No orange slip attached to my receipt at time of purchase. Had travelled quite some distance to return an item but couldn’t even have an adult conversation with the poor excuse for a staff member about options.

Refused a refund or exchange

I bought an iPhone 12 min from Argos Clearance in Walsall for my son, for £219 but it was faulty. The phone was charging extremely slowly—after 3 hours, it was only at 43%. Clearly, it wasn’t working as it should. When I returned to the store to request a refund or exchange, they
refused, claiming the phone was charging. This is unacceptable and shows appalling customer service. Avoid buying from here if you expect any kind of aftercare or resolution to problems. The store didn't follow their terms and conditions clearly I returned the iphone with in 5 working at last they should exchange or refund me . The store terms and conditions is to return the item within 30 days if is faulty or 12 months to exchange I was just 5 working day I came back to the store .
Poor customer service skills
Avoid.

Coyote clearance chaos

Walsall Clearace I kindly asked the young assistant if he could help me with washing machine selection when he returned from taking the customer to the check out. I was with my diasabled mother and we waited and waited, by 15 minutes I went to the cashier to enquire the whereabouts The young assistant informed me that I needed to be patient, it really wasn't a great customer service experience, however, a kind assistant found someone. By the time we went back to the area, the young "salesperson' appeared, when I asked him where he had been he stated he couldn't remember, the proceeded to claim I was calling him incompetent (GUILTY CONSCIENCE). I went to inform the manager, as I was totally appalled that these minors felt they could address customers with such nonchalance, he too just nodded with a sardonic glint in his eyes, as the young cashier had already given her version. In a nutshell went to Currys, My mantra - spend my money where I get good energy, good service with politeness and a smile not carefree attitudes

I won’t be buying from here again. I’m absolutely furious

I’m absolutely furious. I bought a washing machine. I wasn’t given instructions. The guys just put it on the back of my van. They didn’t tell me there were bolts that needed removing. The machine bounced around and I went back and explained. They said I had broken it because I didn’t remove the transit bolts and wouldn’t issue a refund or replacement. Why couldn’t they just have advised me I needed to do this. Terrible service. I won’t buy from them again.

Bought a washer from the clearance…

Bought a washer from the clearance place in Darlington .
Faulty door seal so leaked water over my kitchen .
BUSH don't have replacement seals so advised me to go back to shop.
Shop won't exchange unless I take it back myself which I don't have the transport or physical strength to do this .

Disgusting customer service.

I bought an fridge freezer from Stanley store and it has a broken fresh fruit basket. I went 3 times to the store and had many calls with them and finally after 6 months they refunded some money for it despite I wanted a replacement basket, not money. Disgusting customer service. They even didn't let me in the store to return a broken item. If you ever decide to buy something from them be aware that they won't help you and will hang the phone if they don't want to speak with you.

Mystery wardrobe

Ordered a wardrobe and paid for it in month 1. I was told delivery would be 10 days, after 10 days I received a call to say it would arrive in month 2. Month 2 arrived, a day before delivery I received another call to say no stock and it would be month 3!!!!! As my clothes are getting a bit dusty I requested a refund and went to IKEA..

ARGOS MY FAVOURITE SHOP

I buy all my Christmas presents in the massive new year sale
I saved £300 last Christmas
Goods are great ,and if there not they just change or refund marvellous!!
Been to collect more today for this year GREAT !!!

Issues with order but great service.

We ordered two leather Sofas from them and just a few days before expected delivery they got postponed for three more weeks. That was a real issue as on the day of postponing we had just got rid of our old ones in readiness for the new to be delivered.

When they did arrive one sofa was damaged. That was changed the following week.

The above seems like a problem company and yet I have rated them so highly....?

Well for me it is not just about problems and issues, those things happen. It is how professional the company is you deal with in sorting those things out to give you the feeling that they not only empathise and are apologetic but that they react quickly to resolve them.

The compensation that Argos gave to us when we got two good sofas from them was most generous and the contact and general CS ensured that even with the problems we had I would not hesitate to deal with them again.

avoid

purchased desktop pc kept freezing , pages slow to load, agos emailed me to ring to arrange pick up, this was arranged for monday nothing happened rang again customer service knew nothing about this, had waited in all day for pick up, asked to speak to manager none available have to get one to ring me, they sell untested goods ofer no customer service, this is a company to avoid

selling faulty items untested

Argosclearance on ebay says everything is tested before it is sent out .Not true.I bought a HP 10HD Slate for a reasonable price but the first one worked 3 hrs and the screen when haywire.I had to return it and order and pay for another one.This one arrived today .Took it out the box fired it up and loaded all my google apps on inc my account details and then it asked me to charge the battery.Plugged it in and nothing .Someone had forced the micro usb into the tablet and bent the connectin pins.I phone and told them this and yes you guessed it send it back and we will refund your money.I have not even been refunded for the first one yet .These items are clearly not tested before being sent out and I e mailed the COE about this and have been totally ignored . I have now ordered a brand new one through argos and will hold my breath that this one works.The only + side is the postage was fast but that is all.
Update to 4 stars as Argos have been fast with my refunds.I bought a new one in the end as stated and it fine so will still use Argos

Bargains.

Much though I hate chain stores.....

This company's clearance branch, which I have usually used several times from Ebay is superb. I have bought several things from them now. Everything has arrived very promptly and on time. When I got a computer which I decided I did not like they went above and beyond with finding me a replacement. A proper landline phone number answered by a good natured person who obviously knew what she was doing and did not start calling me by my first name. Good old fashioned service which results in repeat custom.
