Over a month ago I contacted Arnold Clark, Sefton street Liverpool. I contacted to book a service on my mobility car. During this call I mentioned the exhaust light had come on. As in the past I was hoping for car to be picked up and delivered back. This was refused so today I dropped my car off at 8.15am just before 8.30 as I was asked and booked in for. I then left key and asked when it would be ready,admin informed me by 4pm latest. I then got a taxi home. Around 12.20pm I got a text saying work about to begin (so why 8.30 appointment in rush hour time). Around 2.30pm i was sent a video of mechanic going around my car checking brakes,tyres etc and chatting about oil change etc. Message with video stated jobs done. Got taxi back and arrived at 3.50ish and when walking in all garage was open and I seen no sign of my car. On going to service desk was told car not ready and would have to wait till end of day. I questioned what is end of day, he replied 5pm. I explained i would have to wait as i had been dropped by taxi. I was told to wait in waiting area around corner. Waiting area was a chair and 2 seater in the corner of a showroom facing the side of a van. I was left there for nearly one and a half hours with no offer of a drink on one of the hottest days. During this time one of the conversations I overheard was one staff saying to another "paying customers first". At 5.20pm I was told my car would not be ready till tomorrow (at no point did I see my car) i was obviously annoyed as taxi's had already cost me £60. I was offered a car on asking was told it was a Clio. I am 6ft 1 with a back and shoulder injury and explained that why I had a car high up and easy to get in and out. This was a dealership who usually have cars to follow when picking up or dropping off. I was told only a Clio available so I had to get a taxi home and one back again a further £60. This visit has now cost me £120 and a extra day off from work. No courtesy or care shown throughout this visit. On leaving garage doors shut.and staff leaving, my car was with them for 9 hrs for a service and clear exhaust. Now it's going into another day.
Would I recommend AC...NO

I had my car in for a service on 8th July which was fine,I needed additional work done,this was only NSR tyre sealed which they took my money but the tyre is just the same as it was when it went in,that’s 2 services on the trot that they haven’t done additional work properly,last one was discs these hadn’t been mounted properly and causing a squeak also over filled the screen wash causing it to leak,I have been loyal to Arnold Clark over the years and this is what you get,if only the SO CALLED MECHANICS were half as good as the sales reps who I will never fault,THIS WAS THE SHIREMOOR BRANCH

Our experience with Arnold Clark was outstanding from start to finish. We came in after our previous car had suddenly broken down, hoping to find a reliable replacement as quickly as possible. Thanks to the exceptional service we received, we drove home in our new car just a few hours later.
A huge thank you to Paulo Cardoso, who was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. He went above and beyond to help us, making everything straightforward, stress-free, and easy to understand. He patiently guided us through all the paperwork and finance options, answered every question we had, and genuinely cared about making sure we were happy with our purchase. We couldn’t have asked for better service.
The car itself was presented in immaculate condition, despite being pre-owned, and we really appreciated the thoughtful extras, including a car cleaning kit and a first aid kit.
Buying a car can often feel overwhelming, but Arnold Clark made it a genuinely enjoyable experience. We would highly recommend them, and especially Paulo Cardoso, to anyone looking for excellent customer service and a hassle-free car-buying experience.

Arnold Clark Sell Faulty Cars and Invent Excuses to Evade Consumer RightsReview Body:I am writing this review to warn consumers about the abysmal aftersales treatment and deceptive excuses you will face if you buy a faulty vehicle from Arnold Clark. They are completely uninterested in helping customers once they have taken your money, and they will actively try to manipulate the facts to escape their legal obligations.We purchased a vehicle from Arnold Clark that turned out to be completely unfit for purpose, developing a catastrophic failure in the AdBlue and emissions system. To repair this manufacturing defect, we were hit with a staggering quote of £3,500. Instead of taking responsibility and resolving the matter under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Arnold Clark's service department immediately tried to deflect the blame onto us to avoid paying for the repair. They falsely claimed that the tank failure was caused because "the wrong engine oil" had been used.As someone who works professionally for an automotive motor factors, I know oil specifications inside and out. The oil used in the vehicle precisely matched the exact viscosity, grade, and technical specifications officially recommended by Stellantis for this diesel engine. Under Automotive Block Exemption Regulations, using an equivalent matching grade is fully approved and does not invalidate your rights. Furthermore, engine oil has absolutely no bearing on an independent AdBlue exhaust system failure. Arnold Clark simply used "the wrong oil" as a desperate, manufactured excuse to try and trick a consumer into giving up their legal rights on a massive repair bill.In the hope that Arnold Clark would see reason and act professionally, we even paid for an independent expert report out of our own pocket. This independent report completely vindicated us, confirming the car was fundamentally faulty and that Arnold Clark was entirely in the wrong. Yet, even when confronted with independent, professional evidence, Arnold Clark simply hit us with a wall of silence and unresponsiveness.Shifting the blame onto paying customers by inventing fake maintenance errors to avoid a £3,500 bill—and ignoring independent expert evidence—is a disgraceful business practice. It proves that Arnold Clark’s multi-point pre-sale safety checks are a myth, and their customer care policy is non-existent. We had to endure months of extreme stress, conflict, and financial limbo simply because Arnold Clark refused to acknowledge a clear defect they are legally responsible for.If you are buying a car from Arnold Clark, be warned: if it breaks down, they will try every trick in the book to blame you rather than fix the problem. Avoid this dealership at all costs.Date of experience: July 2026
Update . Arnold Clark have asked for more info to try and block this review. If anyone has car issues they wont help so go to your finance and if like mine they dont help go to the ombudsman as they are excellent . Love Arnold clarks reply lol. Like they care when they knew everything about the problems and were definitely not interested in any way. Now where is my laughing emoji 🤣🤣

Arnold Clark Perth Citroën — no customer service, no answers, no accountability
Bought a 2020 Citroën C5 Aircross from Arnold Clark less than a year ago. The car is now facing a major emissions/DPF issue with a quote of around £1,849 at only about 52,000 miles, being treated as “normal wear and tear”. In my opinion, a customer buying from a main dealer should not be facing this kind of major repair bill less than a year after purchase.
Communication has been absolutely terrible. I have been chasing Arnold Clark Customer Services since 11/06 and still have not received a proper written response. The biggest joke is that Arnold Clark tells customers to contact Customer Services by email, but in my case Customer Services simply do not answer properly at all.
Perth Citroën branch says they are waiting on Customer Services because they cannot speak for Arnold Clark as a whole, while Customer Services / Head Office provide no clear accountability. The customer is left stuck between branch, warranty, manufacturer, finance company and head office.
A Parking Assistance fault was also reported and still has not been clearly confirmed as repaired.
This is not the level of service anyone should expect from a main dealer. Poor communication, poor aftersales support, no clear responsibility, and no proper written answers. I have full emails, dates, diagnostic reports and complaint records to evidence every point. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Arnold Clark Perth Citroën or Arnold Clark Customer Services.
