As someone who has created over 100 photobooks across various platforms, I came to Artifact Uprising for the first time after it was recommended by a co-worker. We were making a special gift for another colleague, so I was eager to see how this platform compared to others.

I want to share my experience to help others make an informed decision before investing significant time into a project, especially if you’re considering Artifact Uprising for your next photobook.

What I Noticed About the Platform:
• I used Artifact Uprising specifically to create a photobook, and unfortunately, I found the tool less user-friendly than other platforms I’ve tried.
• Adding text to pages is clunky and not as intuitive as I expected. Navigating and editing text can be frustrating.
• You cannot delete photo placeholders, though it is possible to move them. This limitation made page customization difficult.
• The template selection is extremely limited. For example, there is no template for five photos on one page, and options for other photo quantities are also quite sparse.
• Customer service is restricted to email and chat. While representatives were polite, their ability to assist was limited—they seemed less familiar with the workings of their own platform than I would have hoped.
• Some functionalities don’t seem to work as advertised. I was unable to email myself a PDF proof of my project, and despite placing the order, no one has yet been able to resolve this or provide an alternative.
• Switching between product types is not possible mid-project. Unlike other platforms, you cannot easily move between similar products (e.g., changing from a hard cover photobook to a photo-wrapped hardcover), which I didn’t discover until I was already deep into my project.

Because it was my first time using Artifact Uprising, I didn’t realize these constraints until I had already invested substantial time and effort. While I suspect the final product quality will be excellent, I encourage others to consider whether the platform’s limitations and the effort required to complete a project are worth it for your needs.

Hopefully this detailed feedback helps others choose the right photobook platform for their project—especially if ease of use, flexibility, and responsive support are priorities for you.

Maria Doka was a pleasure to work with. She is very professional in her overall demeanor and communication skills. Maria was extremely understanding of and attentive to our desire to create a product that addressed our personal design preferences. Her responsiveness via telephone (in addition to email) catered to our preferred method of communicating on a more direct and personal level. Working with Leah was wonderful and made the process of designing our wedding album so easy! I just have to say how awesome it was working with Maria from Artifact Uprising on Dr. Luis Jodar’s retirement album. Right from the start, Maria was super professional and really knew her stuff. She made the whole process easy and enjoyable, always paying attention to the little details and keeping me in the loop.
What really blew me away was her creativity. Maria didn’t just put together a bunch of pictures—she turned them into something special. The album looks absolutely beautiful and is so well thought out. It really captures Dr. Jodar’s legacy in a way that’s both heartfelt and stylish.
Maria listened to what we wanted, gave us great ideas, and made sure every part of the album was perfect. Her knack for blending creativity with professionalism took the project to another level.

Worst customer service imaginable! I’ve written literally dozens of emails to get help and the customer service is shocking. They don’t ever fix the issues.

Also last Christmas all 6 of my books arrived very late despite me ordering before the cut off

I ordered a photo book from Artifact Uprising for my anniversary, and I’m absolutely obsessed with how it turned out! 💕 Paige Wagenknecht curated everything for me, and she was such a dream to work with. I sent her a bunch of (probably confusing) edits and notes about how I wanted the photos rearranged, and she somehow brought it all together perfectly. The finished book is beyond beautiful — exactly what I imagined and more. Thank you, Paige, for helping me create something so special!

Maria is the absolute BEST to work with, so accommodating, so creative, and so fun to work with!!

The design service was so helpful! I narrowed down my photos to 200 photos and then Leah from the Design Team layed it out perfectly! I only had very small tweaks I wanted made, otherwise the first draft sent to me was PERFECT!

My daughter’s wedding photographer posted a gallery of over 600 photos. It was overwhelming to sort through them to create an album with a coherent design so I purchased the design services and it was money well spent! Maria was amazing to work with: she captured the flow of the day in a beautifully designed layout, had a keen eye for detail to make sure each photo was properly placed in the layout and was incredibly responsive to my questions and revisions. Maria helped my daughter and me design 3 different albums (mine, hers and her in-laws) and we can’t wait to see the finished product!
