Fraud

Complaint ! Atlantic Union released a payment to Temu with no investigation . I made a purchase to Temu for $6 and change also $35 after receiving the merchandise it was not what i ordered and I returned and no other purchase was made . I didn't notice my statements in the mail because of a address / street issue October 6, 25 for 104.08 , I contact the bank to do a dispute / fraud charge on my bank card of Atlantic Union . I was told that the charge was over 60days and the money was released to the merchant with no investigation because of their policy which I wasn't aware until February / March 23 . I stress to senior's to check your statements after speaking to the Manager stating he was sorry about releasing my funds for merchant I never purchased . Seniors be aware of this new bank and watch your statements carefully !

This bank is an absolute joke

This bank is an absolute joke! I had several business accounts with Sandy Spring Bank before these clowns took over. None of the accounts had monthly maintenance fees associated with them.
Once Atlantic Union Bank took over, my accounts were assessed a $15 per month fee. Note, at no point did I ever get notification from the bank indicating a fee would be assessed to my accounts. In fact, the maintenance fee didn't even show on my monthly statement. I only recognized what was happening when I logged into their online banking platform. Furthermore, I sat down with a banker in their Glen Allen, Va branch in October 2025 who reviewed my accounts, but never mention a fee being assessed.

When I contacted the service center to close the accounts, I was told I needed to visit a branch to close out the accounts. Mind you, I bought the accounts to a zero balance, so no money was changing hands. Note, on January 23, 2026 I closed out another business account with them via the service center that had a zero balance.
I now live 3 hours from the nearest branch, so I have no interest in visiting a branch to close an account.
I have since opened business checking accounts with American Express as they don't charge me to hold my money (interest free). I suggest you do the same.

Poor customer service

AUB took over Sandy Spring Bank where we had a business account, personal checking, savings, and CD's. We did not receive our August statement from Sandy Spring and have been trying for two weeks now to get the statement from AUB. The statements are still not on-line and agents have promised to email them to me but they have not been received. Unfortunately, this seems to be typical when a large bank takes over a smaller one, service goes down the tube.

Security Practices

This bank includes entire account numbers on statements mailed via the USPS - a terrible security practice. Yet, to speak with a customer service representative, you must provide your Social Security number, driver's license number, and full account number. They've got their security practices upside down.
