So far so bad

So far so bad. Very very hard work. Have been dealing with them for the last 3 weeks or so.
We have an auto gearbox problem which was diagnosed by a VAT registered garage(as per their instructions) when we put the car in for a health check. We received the report back with various problems. Some we know are for us to sort out, others, according to our warranty, are covered.
The person who we are corresponding with said they couldn't agree to the gearbox repairs until they have an indepth report.
When I pointed out that this would mean removing the gearbox and transfer box which is a major job, then the £50 they pay for the diagnostic works will not even scratch the surface.
At this moment in time we are attempting to get assurances that they will pay to have the car put back together at their cost if or when they refuse to pay for the repair.
Very hard word and time consuming.

We have replied back to every query you have made. It has taken this long because we have not received a report.
After logging the claim, you emailed us for the claims process which was explained to you in detail. You are on a silver warranty. If you refer back to the your cover, Page 7 and look under the diagnostic section. You will see we do not cover a diagnosis or investigation on this cover.
You are asking for us to guarantee what the outcome we be.
We are unable to guarantee you this without knowing the cause of failure.
All you have advised us is that you have an issue with your Gearbox.
You have gave us a negative review on a claim which hasnt even been dealt with.
We aim to give outcomes within 24 hours of receiving a report.
Which we still have not received from you since the 28th of July even after explaining the claims process to you many times. Which is also on our website and in the warranty booklet.

Absolute SHAM of a company

Absolute SHAM of a company, will get out of anything that requires them to pay for repairs.

Disgraceful staff, very rude and patronising over the phone.

Please be aware and read your policy before you take it out with these.

I would also recommend that car sales companies steer clear from using these guys too as it could potentially give them a poor reputation linked with these cowboys.

BEWARE

BEWARE! Auto selcet warranties will do what ever they can to get out of paying you anything. Typical deceitful cowboys that are out to rinse their customers. Gearbox just died after 6 weeks of ownership and they refuse to pay due to the part that caused the damage (mercedes gearbox piston) is not one of their listed items. I mean..its a main component in a merc auto gear box... why is it not covered!? AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE

Platinum Auto Select Warranty...….. Anything But!

Bought a car which came with a PLATINUM Warranty from Auto Select! Firstly, I will point out we inadvertently bought a real bad car and needed to use the warranty.
Auto Select only cover one of any part..... if both lower wishbones have failed, they only pay for 1, you have to pay for the 2nd. Same with shocks, track rod ends...... anything there are 2 of, you have to pay for the 2nd part (if you can convince Auto Select to pay for the first one?)!
Secondly, Auto Select cover labour £50 per hour! Please note this is INCLUDING VAT, net figure is £41.67. So if (as I did) you use a garage that charges £78 per hour + VAT, you have to pay the difference!
I found the lady pleasant enough to deal with, however there seemed to be a disclaimer for just about everything!! It almost seemed like they were trying to pay out as little as possible (typical insurance company) and they only covered 27% of the final bill. In checking their last set of accounts I can maybe see why they don't want to pay out, Auto Select don't look too good financially!
I had used a manufacturers warranty many years ago (only for brake parts), they were fantastic and never quibbled about anything despite some parts being wear items! Whereas Auto Select quibble about absolutely everything!
Will never buy another car unless it has a MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY in future. Will NEVER have another car with a 3rd party warranty!
Do your homework people!!!

Awful company

Awful company, my car broke down after 2 months of ownership. No problemI thought, I've purchased a platinum warranty at £500. I contacted them and was advised to get it transported to a vat approved garage. The garage then informed me the problem was a crank pressure sensor and that was part of a recall (I wasn't aware of) and would need to go to a main dealer. When he informed the warranty company they told him I had to pay him because the claim was being refused. (after I followed their procedures and they told me I was covered). They didn't bother to tell me. I called them and said I needed to hire a car as I was now stranded at home, they told me "no you're not entitled to one". I read out their booklet and it stated after a claim has been raised I could have a hire car for 5 days. They responded "I know that's written on the booklet but it actually means after the garage has sent a report". I repeated your booklet states...I was cut off and told "it doesn't matter what's written in the book, that's our policy, only after and engineers report, our engineer isn't writing a report because your claim isn't covered and therefore we are not paying anything". Right but you advised me to take it to a vat registered garage and get a diagnoses done, which I have done and now you're not even covering that? "Correct your claim has been rejected" on what basis? "your car is subject to a recall" I said which is good for you, it means you don't have to pay anything in parts and labour. "Even so, your not covered" I asked to speak to a manager, a very rude woman came on the phone and repeated what he said, I said well this is worth the paper it's written on and I want a refund, she said "YOU'RE NOT GETTING A REFUND!' I told her I was seeking legal advice. She hung up! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. I will be seeking a refund for the cost of the warranty, the diagnosis, the investigation and the transportation to a main dealer. Shocking that 1980's customer service still exists in 2022!

Be very careful when being sold a warranty from these people. Make VERY sure that you read the exemptions in full. There are those who might think that once you realise what they won't pay out for, there is little point in taking out the 'warranty'.
I personally would never recommend dealing with these people.
