Getting loads of enquiries, however selling on Autotrader now seems to be just like trying to sell something on Facebook marketplace. You get loads of messages but the vast majority are time wasters. The most annoying aspect is paying for my car to be listed on Autotrader indefinitely until I sell it, then after several weeks I get an automated message from them asking if I would like to extend my ad for “ Free” As if they are doing me a favour. How can it be for free when I opted and paid for my ad to be listed indefinitely until such time as I inform Autotrader that my car has sold and is no longer for sale. I then receive a further text saying that they have extended my ad for a further ten weeks. Thanks very much, I’ve already paid for it to be in your site FOREVER!

Great experience! From the easy listening to the secured platform, privacy throughout the complete process. Multiple offers, sold in a week and a half. Money payment handle in a save secure manner and transferred into my account within 24hours. Would use AutoTrader again and highly recommend.

Autotrader has been taken over by scammers but they do a fairly good job of getting rid of them after they show up.

90% of the contacts I received were from scammers but the real people got through easily and it was also easy to hide and delete the scammers.

I sold the car within a couple weeks to a real person no problem.

Auto Trader (AT) handing all the financial & title side of the sale & provided very useful "checklists" for after the sale.

I did receive 8+ spam contacts, however, AT private seller information had addressed all of these up front in there information reading.

Only complaint is that the web site is tedious to navigate as are the text messages related to contact from a buyer.

Site helpful in walking you through setup. Great advice to stay on platform as there are many out there who are trying to con you. I had excellent help when I realized I missed in setting up a way to receive my funds from the sale. Buyer and I both confirmed transfer after title exchanged hands at the tag agency and I received my funds the next day. Very happy with Auto Trader!!

It was really smooth once getting thru all the fraudulent inquiries. Once you get a serious prospective buyer, the process is so smooth. Almost gave up and glad I stuck it out with Auto trader. Does a great job at holder both the buyer and seller accountable and clear next steps is outlined well.

I was grateful for a safe platform to sell my car through. Although there were many scammers on there trying to get me off the platform I appreciated having a way to keep me safe. I think auto trader reaches a lot of people so that’s what makes it successful. On the other hand one of the people who was very interested in the car was having trouble getting into the website so I don’t think he would agree with it being so good. For me it was great.

For the fee you charge, your service was exemplary! You guided me along the way, answered my questions, and made the entire transaction secure and easy! Clearing a lien on a vehicle can be time consuming and a hassle. Autotrader made this clear and easy!

Overall my experience selling my car on Autotrader.com was great. My key takeaway here is that their system for selling a car really provides peace-of-mind that all necessary steps will be taken to properly transfer ownership of the vehicle from sell to buyer and that you are protected from scams as long as you follow their recommendations and steps to do this. I did call customer service more than 5 times during the process with various questions (partly because the first intended buyer failed to follow through) and each time they provided excellent customer service and so I always understood the status and what needed to be done.

The only major thing to be on the lookout for is that there are many "potential buyers" who immediately suggest that you text them or email them and some offer cash or to Zelle money. These are all red flags for people trying to steal your money. So my advice is to follow Autotrader's clear instructions to keep conversations on their system and even if you're tempted to do a cash, Zelle or other payment outside of their system, I strongly suggest not doing that even when it feels like the other party is telling a sincere story. Aside from this, as long as you stick within Autotrader's system and suggestions, this is a great service for buying and selling cars which really gives assurance that you will have a good & safe car selling (or buying) experience.

The only people that will get in contact with you are bots and scammers. Do not use if you are an independent seller. Terrible. Message after messasge just a complete waste of time.
