Avis at Copenhagen Airport are scamming…
Avis at Copenhagen Airport are scamming renters, we have just returned our car, the attendant did not check the outside of the car, or the amount of fuel, but instead went straight to window screen and near the bonnet there was a small mark, looked like an insect mark, he declared this a stone chip and charged full excess. Another customer walking by had same experience. They will rent this car out again and rip off another customer
Mystiske opkrævninger og dårlig kommunikation
About a month after my last rental with Avis, I was charged two separate amounts completely out of the blue, without warning or documentation. At first I had no idea what for.
After filling out a customer survey less than favorably, I was finally able to get in touch with an Avis employee. It turns out Avis had charged me for a parking ticket that was obtained THREE DAYS after I had already ended my rental. And yet, they still didn't pay me back and own up to the mistake until several days later.
Do not rent from Avis, unless you want to pay through the nose for mistakes you didn't make.
Don't do it!
We had trouble making the correct booking and had to call in and correct it several times. When picking up the car they wanted to charge extra for one of the services we were told was free. At last we delivered a car that looked exactly the same as before but was billed for damage amounting to 7.500 DKK. Luckily we were insured and didn't have to worry about the fraud. Bottomline: We will never rent a car from Avis again.
AVIS, aldrig igen
Communicating with AVIS/Budget Group about their charges and services is like having responses from a wall. In spite of a contract stating the costs and the conditions for renting a car in Faro airport (October 2018), AVIS/Budget have charged us for unknown expenses and at the same time refused to deliver any documentation. We ordered the rent at the internet weeks before but in the airport in Faro they presented a supplementary document written in Portugease in which they - without any mentioning - cheated us to include a special road assistance fee (named RSVA, in Portugease!), which also was very much in opposition to our explicit wishes not to receive such extra services when we ordered the car rent on the internet in English from Denmark.
Afterwards when we tried to get explanations from AVIS they did not deliver any meaningful documentation about the money they draw (without notice) from our credit card, neither did the stop drawing money, nor deliver documentation - although we have asked for this several times. They just gave us words until also these stopped. Therefore: DO NOT rent cars at the AVIS/Budget Group! They cheat and are totally untrustworthy.

Overcharged.
Overcharged.
Didn't get the car we paid for - we got downgraded and they tried to up-sell us on what we had paid for.
Stay away from these guys.
Dont rent a car by Avis
Dont rent a car by Avis.
I rented a 4 doors car but I got a 2 doors car.
When I booked the car i talked to an employee at Avis and we went through the bill so I knew the exact price, but when i returned the car (in the US) and had to pay, the price was way higher than expected.
After I came home I called Avis Denmark again, but the told me that the extra price was fees and tax.
Even through I talked to an employee to check the price, the price was not correct.
I will never rent cars by Avis again.
Really bad compared to Hertz and Europcar
This is about a car rental in Podgorica Airport, Montenegro.
I was charged around 100 € more than expected and my contract say. I asked, and they said that I had to pay that. But since I was in the airport with my kids and having to catch a plane, I thought that I had to take up the argument coming home through their regular systems. So, I filed a complaint through the system. It is more than a month ago, and I haven't heard anything. I have rented cars many times in many different countries, and with different rental companies. My advice: Chose Hertz or Europcar. They have never failed on such a basic issue as price.
Overpricing essential child safety equipment
Paid 99 euro (750 d.kr) for rental of booster seats for a 2 week car rent!!
To my big surprise this price was an extra even though I booked the seats when paying for the car rental in advance. The explanation from the AVIS assistant, was that AVIS cannot guarantee that you get your booked booster seats and hence cannot pay in advance. So here is my question to AVIS: 1. Is not being able to guarantee availability of essential child safety equipment , even though booked in advance, and when available renting at an extremely overpriced rate, in line with your business philosophy?! (By the way your booster seats were worn down and, at least in Denmark new ones could have been purchased for around 15 euro/seat - at least in Denmark).
PS: Otherwise the car was fine....
Demand and overpayment for Car Rental not available.
I have been overcharged for a Car Rental reservation that I made for a trip with my Husbanf and elderly parents over a year ago. The van reserved was not at the location on the reservation (the Copenhagen Cruise Terminal). Therefore it was necessary to take a taxi to the Copenhagen Downtown location where a much smaller vehicle was provided that did not accommodate my parents’ transportable Scooter and Walker. In attempting to receive credit for the taxi as promised and dispute a portion of the amount charged for the smaller vehicle, I have been charged nearly double the cost I paid. Attempts to speak to anyone who can help and emails with supporting documentation are returned despite meeting all requirements. I have spent phone charges and been up at all hours of the night to reach a representative during office hours in Denmark. In sum, my Bank disputed a portion of the charge and Avis did not reply. A year later, I received letters from Avis in Denmark threatening Collection. After researching my statements and confirming the records of the dispute, my bank has confirmed that Avis received the original charge and then demanded more. This was not only an inconvenience for us but has been time consuming and frustrating for over a year after returning!!!!! I have requested a credit for the amount I believe is outstanding.
No answer for minileasing request
I tried book a car for 3 month (minileasing).
Unfortunately, there is no way to see final price on their site and there is no way to get this info by phone because their phone lines are fully programmed and there is no any options related with minileasing or other special bookings. So, I filled the form on the site about booking and added questions about price and other details. In a few days I received a reply from Martin C. Nielsen. Apparently, he did not read my questions and the form data at all, because instead of my questions answer it was a request of confirmation (but I even did not see a final price!), it was on danish (which is some way acceptable, in despite of my questions was on english) and he named me Jans, but in the form I filled it as Alexander.
I wrote to Martin back and asked to answer my questions but still did not receive anything back (after a few weeks).
Good job Avis! Bravo Martin!

As an AVIS Preferred Plus member I was encouraged by AVIS Denmark to call them (Avis Denmark) directly to arrange my booking also for rentals in Nice, France. I had a confirmed price with all insurances of € 315.05 from AVIS Denmark and when picking up the car at Nice Cote d'Azur I was charged € 478.95. Protesting had no effect. Sadly this is not the first time I experience something like this.
I complained in writing several times to the station manager Yves HIMBERT without receiving as much as an acknowledgement of receipt. Writing Mr. Mark Servodidio made no difference - not reply what so ever.
Today I tried renting with Avis Nice again. On the internet the price for a mini car was DKK 3,353. When logging in with my preferred status the price for the same car was DKK 3,836 or DKK 483 (€ 65) more. So much for being a preferred client of AVIS.
Never again AVIS
Absolutely terrible customer service
we spent more than 2 hours waiting in …
we spent more than 2 hours waiting in line to pickup a prepaid car on monday the 21st of august in Fiumicini airport (Rome). We had booked an Audi A3 (or similar) and got a Renault Clio. I would not call that a similar car. The only mitigating factor was that we got a second driver for free, but we did not use or need that anyway.
We also paid around 80 euros for a child seat. The quality of the car seats we could pick from (spent 10 minutes more trying to figure out where to do this) was mediocre, and we could have bought a similar new seat at the same price. We met a couple who had brought their own (2 seats) on the plane as luggage, due to this outrageous extra cost.
Also no assistance to put in the seat, and I was fearing for my sons life all the time because I was unsure if it was properly fastened. For that price you should offer Isofix seats.
An american elderly couple (long flight) also waited alongside us, and we met them at the parking garage. There was no key in their assigned car. I doubt they are ever visiting Rome again.
When it was finally our turn we spent around 20 minutes on documentation and whatnot. I understand this is an extra selling opportunity, but maybe prioritize expediting your customers when you have a 2 hour wait for the remaining customers.
Bad service and prerepreation
Poor information about the contract
Poor information about the contract-conditions for the car-rental and contradictive information from different employees.
We were told that we could deliver the car and pay for the amount of missing amount of fuel. But when we delivered the car, we were told, that we had to pay for an entire tankfull of fuel, even though it was almost full. So even though we specifically had been told otherwise at the pickup-counter, they said this was standard procedure, at the delivery-counter.
The car was okay, but the information was really bad and we lost a lot of money. I would be careful renting a car from this company.
Citroën Jumper IS NOT Mercedes Vito
Rented a Mercedes Vito in advance from home (DK), but got a Citroën Jumper at arrival at AVIS FLENSBURG .. We needed to travel, so had no choise but to accept the Jumper!
The travelling speed (120-130 km/h) and comfort was terrible (seats, noise, heating system in the back terrible), 4 season tires for trip to Austria in winter ..
The comfort was the far worst part! Only positive thing was that we could return the crap bus 24/7 ..
Felt disinformed and cheated by AVIS FLENSBURG, maybe the size of the Jumper was simmilair to a Mercedes Vito but NOTHING else .. :-/
Overcharge and impossible to contact
I rented a car via Internet. Got a price and a voucher but was charged almost twice the amount. Never sent me an invoice even though they promised to. Found invoice myself online, and they had charged several Insurances that I did not want and had not ordered.
No refunds so far, no excuses, no invoice and Office time 08.30 - 11.30....
Almost difficult to believe, but there it is.
Horrible service
Cheating with car categories
I booked a car for our summer vacation in Italy through www.avis.dk
To get some extra space we spend approximately 300 euro more to get a larger car in the category small. The model example was a Renault Clio specified with room for 5 persons. At the car rental in Italy we got a Fiat Panda, specified with with room for 4 persons. Avis have replied that in their internal documents I have booked a car for 4 persons, and that in Italy the car I booked is in the same category as a Fiat Panda. Hence I could have saved 300 euro and just booked a Fiat panda in the first place. Avis offered me 50 euro in return. That is more a joke than an offer to close the case in a proper manor.
Do not use Avis car rental as they are cheating with the size of cars, and make you pay more than you need. I have now filed a case with the danish consumer protection agency to get my money back.
Censures their Facebook to make bad experiences disappear
A friend posts a very well written complaint on AVIS page. I tried to like but my 'thumbs up' continuously disappear. Same happens when I try to comment. Then I try to like other people's critique, some is possible and some aren't. I figure out that the system of that is when AVIS promises to make it up to the customer and the same customer at first happily complies the thread is closed. Then I wrote a statement on their wall saying that I found it very immature not to stand up to the critique they get, I got banned.
Bad service totally impossible to get in contact with the AVIS office in Milano Malpensa airport for days
Me:The car was rented via ebiludlejning.dk and should be picked up in Milano Malpensa Terminal 2 airport at 19/3 21.00 PM by me. The car should be returned 23/3 17.30 PM.
On 21/3 I found out that I would like to postpone the rental for 12 hours.
On 22/3 I called the Avis office in Milano at +390258583803 from 10 AM to 22 PM and no answer at all, only the sound of a telephone that was hung up again and again. My hotel "Villa CaseGrande" helped to call several Avis numbers found on the internet for an hour, no answer at all. The phone seemed to be ignored.
On 23/3 I called the same no. +390258583803 all morning from 8- 11 AM, still no one picked up. I drove from my hotel and tried to contact Avis office when I arrived in Milano at 14.00 PM
I ended out driving 45 km + paid road tax to get to Malpensa airport from my hotel “Athena, Viale Piave 5, P. Venezia” in Milano to get in the queue at Avis office at Milano Malpensa Terminal 2 airport to ask in person for postponing my agreement.
I asked the AVIS employee if the number I had phoned for hours in two days was the right no. the answer was “yes”, then I told the employee “that no one pick up the phone for two days” he just said “Yes”. And that was it, no excuse at all.
When I got in the queue, and after 20 min. it only took 5 min. to agree that I could rent the car for 12 hours extra, and pay for an extra days rent. Then I could start driving 45 km back to my hotel and pay road tax once more just because no one picked up the phone at the AVIS office in Malpensa airport.
This is above all criticism that it is impossible to get in touch with the office, I have spend many hours and a lot of money to try to get in touch with the office as my reservation was not to change at “My reservation” at the AVIS site, should be changed locally, I still dont know why. Also I spend time driving back and forth to the airport to change my reservation of the rented car.
As I only had 4 days of vacation this is a lot of time and money I have spend just to get in touch with an office that was supposed to be open from 8 AM to 23.59 PM.
Also I was charged 60 Euro for 5 days rent of a GPS, the price is totally way out
