High Quality people who show pride in their work

Avon Ruby were instructed by Loss Adjusters as the main company to carry out refurbishment works on my house after a major water leak. As is normal in cases like these, other companies were also instructed to do other things such as removal and storage. Avon Ruby worked well with these other companies to make the situation less stressful. The workers that came over were all extremely friendly. The quality of work was much better than I was expecting. There was no hint that they just wanted to get the work done. There seems to be pride in the way the work was carried out.

If I was to single out one person, it would be Danny, who was calm throughout and provided helpful tips as he worked. Once again, many thanks Avon Ruby.

Made a big job less stressful

Avon Ruby carried out work to repair subsidence in my house while we were living there: Victorian brick wall strengthening, repair and refurbishment, replacement timber sash window, guttering, interior and exterior decorating including wallpapering.

The whole experience went very well, from scheduling and directing the works to the brickie team and the decorators.

They all turned up when they said they would, did a great job quickly and left the house clean and tidy every day. They were proactive in letting me know if they found anything unexpected and dealt with any problems quickly. They were always polite and respectful of the property. I would recommend them.

Engineer was belligerent within moments of arriving - repeatedly demanding that I show him how certain elements operated to the point that I felt intimidated and called my husband at work to speak to him. My husband was so concerned with his tone that he asked if I needed him to come home. I then sat awkwardly in another room whilst this man then muttered angrily to himself. At the end of the interaction - boiler still non functioning, I told him I could sense his frustration and his demeanor changed. I can understand his issues but there was no need to treat a paying customer with such rudeness and make them feel uncomfortable in their own home. I would have preferred to have had a polite, professional conversation and for him to have just left without even trying to fix it

Feels like a scam. We have had a boiler insurance policy for 15 years through OVO Energy for our boiler. We called out Avon Ruby to check on the boiler. The ‘worker’ arrived (an older English guy), was rude to my wife & then ran off refusing to do any work ‘because the boiler is in the wrong place… if I fall off a chair you’ll be in court’. Appalling experience. Seems like they’re creating excuses to avoid doing what we pay for through our monthly premiums. And they charged £50 for the honour! Avoid.

Job well done!

The Plumbing Engineers sent to fix my plumbing issues: Maurice and Oliver did a fantastic job. Maurice ensured I had hot water until a decision was made by the office. Oliver fixed all the leaks and my hot water and heating were back on! They were very professional, pleasant and very experienced!!!

Praiseworthy Polite & Professional

I’ve seen Avon Ruby all my life and evolve As a family business myself. It’s nice to see progression and must support local businesses. I am a person who is quick to comment and criticise.
They were subcontractors for my home insurance company. I was delighted to have them visit my property. The engineer was very thorough,polite,patient and professional. I had no hot water and heating and was fixed immediately.

Poor service …

Avon Ruby attended our property under our emergency cover policy. The engineer identified that the heating valve was the problem. Subsequently another engineer called , as we understood, to replace a faulty activator and valve. Totally disappointed with outcome as engineer replaced activator only claiming valve was inaccessible. Our own plumber (who came to flush the system) removed the faulty valve in minutes. I contacted Avon Ruby on the 7th February and still waiting for a reply. Would not recommend or indeed use their services in future.

I had a very bad experience with Avon…

I had a very bad experience with Avon Ruby. I complained to my insurer about a water leak in my upper floor bath room. My insurer directed this to Avon Avon Ruby. It was an emergency but engineer came next day. Strangely he kept sitting in his vehicle for some time. My wife went to him to check why he is not coming and he told her that he would come after done gone. Probably was wasting time. Eventually he came and found the leak and isolated it. The leak recurred again very next day. They were again asked to come back. They again took long time to accept the job , actually first denied that I should contact my insurer to send trace leak team but after being convinced by me , they sent engineer again who did some thing to control the leak but within 3 hours of him leaving the house the leak recurred again recurred and became much worse than before. It was only droplets before but now it turned into a continuous dribble. Again I contacted my insurer who spoke to Avon Ruby. They refused to come saying that they tried twice and they do not cover this kind of leak. It was shocking as they took the job twice before de listing that they do not cover. If they do not cover then why did they do it twice before. They left the job and this causing serious damage to underneath ceiling and still pending. I am struggling to find a local plumber dud to Christmas. We take home insurance and pay a good amount monthly only to be disappointed when it is needed the most.
Avon Ruby were also very hostile and rude on telephone esp. Graham, the person I spoke with.
I am regretting to have insurance with Saga.

Beware of this company

Beware Paid Avonruby £3690 for non-Velux skylight installation. RICS surveyor confirmed improper installation. Leaked twice: 09/12/23 (poor installation) and 22/09/24 (faulty lead flashing by Avonruby). Damage: ceiling stains and rotted beading. Avonruby denies fault. Report available on request.

AVONRUBY even tried to get my comment removed TRUST PILOT 20/10/2025 emailed me back and Stated its not defamatory and for my comment to stay online.

PLEASE DONT USE THIS COMPANY

PLEASE DONT USE THIS COMPANY. Engineer was useless and don’t know anything. He broke my boiler and blaming that builders put sludge inside the boiler. TOTAL LIES, YOUR ENGINEER DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING!!!!

Engineer was useless

Engineer was useless, broke isolation valve, his report was boiler , is beyond economical repair, Vokera engineer repaired in 2 hours, and never needed to drain boiler, nor did he need to remove pump, or all the manifold, as your engineer suggested, TOTAL LIES, YOUR ENGINEER DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING!!!!!would never use your company again!!!!I AVOID THIS COMPANY,

Unprofessional customer service

Engineers attended my property to examine radiators. Engineers were great in general.
The contractor was sourced via Legal and General. The Engineers reported that the "office" will send a report and the customer service at Legal and General advised me that I can request a copy of the report from Avon Ruby as I am the property owner.
I called Avon Ruby and spoke to someone called "Grant" who was rude, unhelpful and incompetent. I requested a copy of the report and he refused as "it has been sent" to L and G. When I queried if the report has been sent over to L and G. He was totally clueless and caught lying as he was unable to provide me with the contact details of where the report was sent. He terminated the call when pressed further. I called a second time and when questioned about if the information has been sent to the insurance company Grant said he "believed so" and terminated the call. I called L and G only to be advised that they have not received the findings of the investigation. Very rude customer service agent. He needs training or at least needs to be retrained.

Had my flat flooded by person upstairs…

Had my flat flooded by person upstairs and was so lucky that the landlord's insurance use Avon Ruby, they were fantastic and Paula organised all the specialists to come in with such precision, plasterer came before Christmas so the ceilings could dry, then on 03/01 the painter arrived, he was fantastic, accurate, amazing eyesight, a steady hand and a hard worker - he was brilliant, dedicated and such a lovely person with a good heart and compassion, the day he was finishing the flooring specialist came and took up all the wooden flooring ruined by the neighbour, the painter also helped showing great team work. The following day 2 flooring specialists came and started laying the new wooden flooring - again they were brilliant, kind and worked so hard. My flat is back to normal now and looks beautiful again - it is a shame my upstairs neighbour simply does not look after pipes, washing machine pipes etc as he has flooded my flat 3 times without accepting responsibility - lets hope it does not happen again before I sell up and move. One thing is for sure - when I do move I will be using Avon Ruby for any renovations of my new home. THEY ARE FANTASTIC thank you Paula, Danny, O'Neil, Don & Rees - you are all Masters in your profession and I was so lucky to have you - thank you so very, very much.

Unprofessional, unresponsive cowboys

WILL YOU PLEASE RESPOND GRANT?! TERRIBLE SERVICE. MY SISTER PAID 3K FOR A ROOF THAT WAS NOT FIXED AND NOW THE COMPANY ARE IGNORING ALL COMMUNICATIONS. AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL.
